  • A lament to the fact that this was the last myst game before they switched to complete CG...Its really the only reason I will not play the final game...

  • @DeloreanFanatic your not missing anything great. Really. Myst V was kinda a disappointment :(

  • @DeloreanFanatic You wanna hear something funny? When I played Myst 1 to 4 on my friends computer, I felt quite guilty for not directly supporting the developers (later I bought the anthology to ease my conscience). When "End of Ages" came out I pre-ordered it immediately and felt good about myself, that is until I played the actual game. Let me tell you: graphics is sadly only half of the problem :(

  • I always loved that game; mainly Revelation. ♥

  • Brilliant game, vague puzzles.

  • 0:55 = epic moment....

  • Rand Miller should be canonized...

  • i can't help but think that the sirrius and achenar from this game are different from the ones from the first game and the desk photos from Exile

  • @NotificationOfLife That's because they are. In Myst, Sirrus and Achenar are played by Robyn and Rand Miller respectively (they had a -really- low budget, after all) and were able to get away with it because of the trap book screen distortions. The photos in Exile were based off of those characters. For Myst IV, since they had different actors for the brothers, the photos were changed to reflect that.

  • @Telinome

Which makes it even more ironic that Rand Miller is still playing Atrus in this game but not Achenar.

  • I had this game and I never beat it... awesome production value.

  • Pretty much.

  • I think revelation was probably my favorite game. I liked end of ages too, but it was too short. The only game I haven't played is riven.

  • I liked the Riven but the music for Exile and Myst 4 was awesome.

  • @MrViper1551

Jack Wall composed the music for Exile and Revelation and his score is simply pure awesome. His most recent works were Mass Effect 1 and 2.

The Myst series has had only three composers and each did two games. Robyn Miller composed Myst and Riven, Jack Wall for Exile and Revelation, and finally Tim Larkin composed Uru and End of Ages.

  • dont worry everyone uses the strategy guide for this game

  • I absolutely loved the first 3 games in the series, but never moved past them because I felt like that's when the authenticity stopped.

I'm kicking myself now! I saw some visuals that blew my mind and when I found out Sirius and Aachenar were back, I knew I had to play it. So now I've just gotta find it...I can't wait!

  • I grew up on this series, but I regret that. I used the strategy guide on EVERY game (being young); as such, the puzzles were kind of ruined for me when I entered the stage of "drop the strategy guide, let's see if I can figure the puzzles out on my own."

  • I liked Exile the most... how one of the bad characters, Saveedro, was both villian, and victim. That his actions were a result of his sons' actions.

  • Exile's my Fav., too! The music is definitely the best!

  • My jaw dropped when I first saw this. I was like there is no way they are still alive.

  • Same here. Such a cool intro. I literally got the chills when I first saw this.

  • @koolgool I get them every time I watch it. :P

  • @picjusbro Who those people in the blue and red books. They're still alive. When Atrus burned the books, he didn't kill them, he just broke the bridge between Myst and the prison books.

  • @picjusbro when i saw the trailer a while ago (right after beating the first myst) my own jaw dropped seeing the red and blue books again

  • @picjusbro There is no way they could ever die! ;) D'ni lives on!

  • awesome! i love the music..this one and Exile have some of the best music. Revelations' puzzles were a bit too hard for me though..i admit to using the stradegy guide..

  • i love this intro!! and i really like the game, too, thogh i didn't get to play all of it :(

  • thanks guys, considering.. i was Art director on the project, and and fun editing this intro ;) glad to see that people still like it :)

  • other than my little rant down there, this is one of the greatest intros ever to a video game.

near the end when the music gets epic, i get a mental picture of two armies charging at each other XD.

  • This has to be the most epic myst intro EVER.

I mean, the line 'There are things I must tell you....ABOUT MY SONS.'

    It just gives you shivers!

    This one's my favorite intro.

  • most people aske me if there should be a live action movie made about MYST.

and im like 'fuck no. do you know how many videogame-based movies have turned out to be nothing more than a fucking shitpile?'

    Who agrees with me?

I HOPE TO GOD that Hollywood NEVER gives Uwe Boll or Paul W.S. Anderson a reign to write a movie about MYST, because those guys have fucked up the most cherished and loved videogame franchises by making movies out of them.

  • You're too late-ish, someone else already got rights to it, but it's based off the books.

  • when is it due for at least trailers?

  • epic

  • they should have used this as a trailer

  • I agree, the intros of 2, 3 and 4 really seem like movie trailers more than game intros.

  • When I saw this I was completely hooked. I love this series and Myst IV has gotta be my favorite game of all time!

  • Epic Intro!
