How do you get the designs? do you just make them up?

i get some of the designs from google pics, i look for pixel pictures. but my tv levels are made just by trial and error. my console levels are made by  looking at a console and trying to recreate it.

it was hard to get it the triforce that hight, i just changes the floor level to the height i wanted and the it was guess work on the placement of the triforce, it took ages to get right.
