Actually I am a descendant of American Indians. We had two-spirit marriages before English invaders conquered our land and killed off a great deal of the two-spirit population. We had gay marriage thousands of years before the white trash came over.
I apologize for being so angry. It is in our history. There are stories of two-spirits fleeing into the mountains to hide while being pursued by the English with torches. Our two-spirits were often holy men/women much like you. Sister Unity would have fit in nicely.
I wonder if there was an organized or conscious effort by the English to single out the Two Spirit people. There was with the Conquistadors in Central America when they arrived. The two-spirit shamans were killed "for heresy" in each village. Good to note.. they were in EACH village.
Yes, there was although much of the history during that time was lost. It took great effort to re-discover just a small fragments of the two-spirit customs. It was much the same as many villages lost customs, Sometimes it was oppression and other times outright murder. Many times the English convinced tribes that two-spirits were harmful witches and caused things such as smallpox (brought from the English).
It is the same as with other cultures. When Christianity moves in a lot of culture, writings, beadwork (stories in art) is destroyed. It becomes somewhat impossible to find everything that existed before the occupation.
We know, for instance through oral tradition that the textbooks are highly slanted towards English perspective whereas the events were much more brutal than depicted to make the US seem not so bad.
I think you are a great person who is just misguided. I'm sorry I just believe marriage is between a man and a woman. Too bad this issue is extremely divisive.
Actually I am not at all misguided. Please get to know me before making such an assumption. What can be said of unresearched pronouncements? I support your right to believe and live and practice as you do. I believe that you and I, disagreeing as we do, deserve laws and government that treats us equally. I will never force our government to tax you and tell you what you cannot do with your love or your beliefs. America is great because disagreeing people can live with legal equanimity and peace
The majority of scientific opinion leans toward it being more genetic with some developmental aspect than strictly developmental. Either way it is understood to be an innate quality of 5% to 10% of humanity. I have not found any scientific reports of it being a choice.
I love you're energy. Thanks for keeping your chin up. I also am related to a few historical figures; the Hersey's from Penn., a couple of people on the mayflower, the guy that came up with the red paint for coke bottles and some Amish folk. Even the Amish have gays. And yes, some of them are ok with the gay, while others aren't. Human is as human does.
I'm all too glad you're optimistic about this. Many people I've seen talking on blogs are fed-up with the repeated losses to the gay civil rights movement and just want to move to Canada. It seems like such a bad idea; by moving out of the country you are abandoning the fight here, abandoning the advancement of civil rights, to get an instant "get out of jail free card" so to speak. I know some gay couples have been waiting 20 or more years to be legally married, but c'mon.
I think you are correct. I feel optimistic because 1) when fighting a battle, do not become attached. Perform your duty to your best with singular focus. This is what God teaches in the Bhagavad Gita. (couldn't resist putting it that way).
Plus, the human species is liberalizing, year by year, decade by decade. Our distinctive mind allows a change in our behavior as we evolve. The trend is liberal. So I know it is only a matter of time. I am relaxed in the sureness of our evolution.
You realize that anal sex isn't a gay-exclusive sexual act. In a survey taken in 2005, 38.2 percent of heterosexual men between 20-39 and 32.6 percent of heterosexual women ages 18-44 engage in heterosexual anal sex.
I've heard multiple accounts (from straight men) that it actually feels better than vaginal sex. Wow, imagine that.
So yeah. It does give us pleasure to stick a dick in someone's ass. And not just the gays either. :D
Well I don't have your pedigree but I'm part Puerto Rican part Turkish Jew and I love America. Civil Rights should not be put for voters at the ballot box. Otherwise I'm not sure if my ancestors would have been kicked out of this country. I guess this time we're on the same boat.

The whole issue lies in whether people are born gay or not. If people are born gay, then it is a right. If not, then it is not a right.
