05 Mustang GT - Stock Mufflers to Magnaflow

I had Magnaflows on my stang. Switched em out to Flowmasters after 3 months. Magnaflows don't sound very strong IMO.

Flowmaster don't even come close to magnapacks,for quality and sound.the magnapacks are a straight through muffler,which flow's better than flowmaster and wont rust.check out this guy's car with Magnapacks,his screen name is,4511point21,his car sound's like a GT40. Really BAD ASS sounding GT.

I hear the difference. It's not much but it's there. The whole Magnaflow Catback usually has a true x pipe and much nicer pipes in general. Doing a Magnaflow Catback system will blow your mind. The improvement in sound is incredible and 3500 miles later its getting louder, smoother, deeper and more refined yet. As someone else said, using stock pipes and aftermarket mufflers probably does work better with the cheaper Flowmasters rather than trying to do it halfway with Magnaflows.

do they get louder after some of the packing wears out? i wish i would have watched this before i wasted $170 on 2 magnaflow, and all that time cutting up the stock muffler and welding the pipe on the magnaflow but at least i can just un bolt it and remove them so i can install some flowmasters!!!

If you're gonna put only mufflers on a GT, DO NOT GO WITH MAGNAFLOW. When it comes to stock pipes and aftermarket mufflers, Flowmaster sounds much better. Now your Mustang sounds like the Asian kid's car down the street. Just sayin...

I would have been pissed whenever I went to go pick up my car after I just shelled out $100 for a muffler hen $45 in the exhaust shop and crank it up expecting to hear this awesome sound and then crank it up and it's quieter than a mouse flowmaster is what I have and I love it

okay, so this guy is getting made fun of for his GT- Im getting ready to do the same thing he did to my 07 4.6, 3v GT. So what makes magnaflow a poor choice for the GT?

It sounds deeper than the stock, but I dont care for the high popping 4 cyl civic sound. Is this what everyone is refering to?

I had a shop recommend ARH long tubes, some version of Flowmasters, BBK cold air, and 93 tuning.

Is that good to get: low noise inside car, but a deep rumble, and no popping sound, increased hp?

This is actually quieter than most of the Magnaflow clips I've heard. The Flows give the old 5.0 sound. Borlas are good but they are only axle backs, like Flows. At least Magnaflow has full exhaust.

Magnaflow has always been the "quiet" aftermarket system. Although, they sound alot better under load, and inside the car. I went with a JBA system on mine... Deep and throaty as all heck, but its loud inside the cockpit until you get to highway cruising speeds.

The factory exhaust sounds pretty good. The standard Magnaflows are pretty smooth, but aren't very aggressive with the factory H. I've always found them to sound best with an o/r or catted X. I had them on my '03 and they sounded OK with the factory H. When I swapped that for an O/R X it was incredible. Definitely sounds a little different with the 3 valves, though.
