@metroid478: No, you sort of have it wrong. Above about 50 sols in mass a star will collapse into a black hole. Smaller than that, but above four sols masses, the star will eventually supernova and result in a neutron star. Less the 4, the star will gently blow off it's outer levels and become a white dwarf.
We don't yet know what the genesis of the super black hole at the center of all galaxies is.

I am fairly sure, that any object dense enough, will have the gravitational forces required to form a black hole. I believe it may be everything around it, and interacting with it, that produces the energies emitted by black holes. Everything interacts with one another in relative space.

But rather an event triggered by a combination of things, more likely the introduction of another great object. The genesis of a super black hole, like the one at the center of our galaxy, is likely caused by gravitational forces. As larger masses, and more masses, enter the area of greatest mass(or density), the gravity pulls it to become one object, further increasing its mass.

@jimishere123 no deathstar = end of world. sorry in order for a black hole to form. the supernova has to be taken in place already. at the middle of the supernova is a neutron star, that eventually overcomes its massive density and then becomes a black hole. u kinda got it backwards

@metroid478: No, you sort of have it wrong. Above about 50 sols in mass a star will collapse into a black hole. Smaller than that, but above four sols masses, the star will eventually supernova and result in a neutron star. Less the 4, the star will gently blow off it's outer levels and become a white dwarf.
We don't yet know what the genesis of the super black hole at the center of all galaxies is.

@puncheex yea i cought myself too. i got alot of things wrong there. it all depends on solar mass. and nothing in a giant life stage can form into a black hole. and a supergiant either takes the path as a neutron star or a black hole. and anything --->5<--- TIMES the mass of the sun will be a super giant when going into its elder life. and it doesnt matter if a star is 50 solar masses. there was a star that was 398 solar masses, and it became a neutron star.

@metroid478 I miss interpreted your comment about anything in a giant life stage, at first, because it usually symbolizes something actually losing mass or gravity. I am fairly sure, that any object dense enough, will have the gravitational forces required to form a black hole. I believe it may be everything around it, and interacting with it, that produces the energies emitted by black holes. Everything interacts with one another in relative space.

@puncheex I would bet, that a supernova is not dependant solely on the mass of a star, or its size. But rather an event triggered by a combination of things, more likely the introduction of another great object. The genesis of a super black hole, like the one at the center of our galaxy, is likely caused by gravitational forces. As larger masses, and more masses, enter the area of greatest mass(or density), the gravity pulls it to become one object, further increasing its mass.

@foozbong: You can have any theory you want, but right now astrophysicists see type II supernovas arising from sufficient mass to force fusing of elements into iron, and type I supernovas from the gradual accretion of mass by a white dwarf from a companion star, growing until the limit at 1.4 solar masses is reached, when the white dwarf does a complete fusion of all it's clandestinely accumulated hydrogen in one moment.

@puncheex As time goes on, the mass (naturally assuming the position, usually, as the center of a galaxy) aquires more gravity and gives the galaxy its disc shape, due to rotational forces. If you take o alook at other galaxies, you will find some are spherical, I see these as younger glaxies, likely formed from a miniature "big bang".

@foozbong: Uh, no. The mass of a galaxy is all it's ever going to get, barring as yet unknown processes involving dark matter. It can move it around inside, but it can't create more. Galaxies much younger than today are usually irregular; ellipticals seem to result from collisions of more than one spiral or other shapes.

@metroid478 well, actually... death star = giant space ship form starwars, which would most likely be a way of continuing life as it travels long distances, over populates, or needs to escape then end of the world.... Anyhow, black holes are not only caused by supernova stars. And may actually form from anything so dense, even a living star of great mass. ( although the black hole itself, does kinda nullify the idea of a living star)
