I've been rowing for a few weeks now and I'm dreading the day I catch a crab = \ how can I prevent or recover from it without making a huge mistake and embarrassing myself and team?
@KyleeChristopher U can prevent it by always clipping the blade correctly and on time even when you're getting tired. Recover from a crab?.. being lucky. Just try to get it out of the water as soon as possible.
Lol! the worst one I've ever seen was the start over the first head race this season. Our stroke caught one similar to that and then all the novices stopped rowing?! lost them about a minute..
Just a little background...this was our first novice race, which we did win by a minute (somehow)...Our stroke caught about 5 crabs during the entire head piece, at least Pete crabbed after the finish :) - 4 Seat

that guy was just rowing terribly. You can see it in the few strokes before he crabs. Hes hitting all kinds of chop.

The gy in 5 seat was way way way to early or 6 was late I can't tell you'se look like a caterpiller but man I bet that was painfull.
