@bluediamond2077 It can be pretty easy when cutting something with a flimsy surface to twist and cut yourself. As a tightwad i'm not trying to "sell" anyone, just recommend a safer method. She says to be careful with sharp blades, and I think the best way to be careful is to use a better method...but if you want to use a blade you are certainly welcome to...whatever gets the job done, right?
Can you please advise where you purchased the white "not" on the inside of the barrel that attaches to the faucet? I have looked everywhere and cannot find them.
Check out Rain Barrel Apparel on Facebook and Twitter for aesthetically pleasing rain barrel covers. You no longer have to have that eye sore of a milky white or blue barrel on the side of your house!
make sure you water only flowers with that set up. If you start watering fruit/veggie garden, you'll need a food grade plastic container so you don't contaminate your crop. this container is not food grade so be careful.
@matthew2000tx The basket for the rain barrel looks like a basket strainer for a swimming pool which keeps leaves and debris out of the rain barrel . She said it was a hayward basket probably something you could buy at your local swimming pool supply store.
Did you buy a Semco brand garbage can from Ace Hardware? I seriously just bought the same model garbage can and gutter diverter.

good video but you should drill holes on the side of the barrel towards the top to act as an overflow

I did this the very same way but mine has an overflow tube that feeds into my downspouts out to the sewer.
