  • its as ugly as the New Haven colored genesis 2

  • @brayidur

I actually think the NH P32ACDM is nicer looking because of the presence of white in its scheme.....

  • To me, it is like a weak gp40. I like the front of the locomotive but, the back, I don't like.

  • are you kidding me, man? the GP30 is way worse that that thing.

  • are you effing kidding me man? the GP30 is way uglier than thet thing we have here in connecticut!

  • @ConrailDave1999

Thats great but Metro North has never owned a GP30. Not even close.

  • @nhlives I MEANT that THE GP30 IS UGLIER THAN THE BL20GH.

  • @nhlives Boston Main/Guilford.

  • I wonder why MNRR chose the BL20GH? I think either the MP36 would have been better or the PL42AC. They are more up to date in design and emissions.

  • @MrWill1985

And the MP36/MP40 are WAY less prone to failures.....

  • I know this is a bl20gh made by Brookville. I forgot what the reason is but can only haul 2-5 coaches.

  • @malikrthr1

low horsepower, not meant to haul real sized trains.....plus can't handle it as its crappily designed, engineered, and built

  • these trains were thought to be the best there were for the first 2 days before the filters had to be changed and every thing had to be fixed . the paint is not that bad and they can not change the red, white, and black because those are the NH colors. they do have the same version of this engine in the grey and blue parked new haven yard for switching. it even has some red. but i think they should have sticked with the original Fl 9s there is about 7 of them with fresh paint siting in storage

  • @vaspas179

Obviously they're not going to repaint them just because they're ugly - but these are indeed NH colors but POORLY interperted. The Black would NEVER have been the main color and on the entire nose under the NH. Look at pictures......

  • @nhlives the best paint jobs are on the gp40s thats a fact even the nose is a great layout

  • @nhlives the best is the GP-40

  • @nhlives the best is the GP-40

  • @vaspas179

The colors indeed could and should have been changed even while sticking with the NH colors - just the red and the black on the scheme applied to these should be reversed. Red nose, black up top....

  • @nhlives

i do agree there should be a lot more white and black switched with the red on the front

  • they are low emmisions locomotives and lack head end power.

  • @malikrthr1

no - the engine in this video (BL20GH) indeed does have H.E.P., and they're not "low emissions" although I believe they're EPA Tier II compliant.

  • @malikrthr1

Negative. These are BL20GH's -- The HAVE head end power.

  • @sealpup02

you think something that sounds like a clogged vacuum cleaner sounds great????

  • totally NOT the ugliest locomotive Metro North has ever owned

  • it uses less fuel thats why they bought them and the fact that they are cheap and easy to run

  • @MrZkr123

I don't see how they can be counted as being more efficient when they use them 2 at a time account reliability issues more than 1/3 of the time.....

  • @nhlives I don't know the technical details of it but they are part of that new group of low emissions locomotives. They are not heavy haulers, they do yard work, branch line commuter rail and light freight

  • or better known as a brokeville

  • the music goes with the locomotive.....SHIT!

  • That locomotive should only be used for rescuing disabled trains. As well as to power work trains. Not to power trains in revenue service. NJT owns 5 of them similar built my Motive Power and NJT only uses them for work trains and rescuing disabled trains along the tracks.

  • NJT doesn't own any Brookvilles. They own five MP20GPs (1001-1005) which are so far mostly failures from what Ive been reading (so I see how they could be confused with these MN BL20GHs. The MP20's don't have HEP from what I'm told and therefore can not run solo on a passenger train.

  • I knew NJTs version were built by Motive Power and Not Brookville. But I didnt know the exact model name.

  • roger - well they're similar only in that they're "new" and both 2000 hp.

the BL's are "designed" for passenger service while the MP's are designed for non-revenue service only.

But I get what you're saying....

  • The music is tha shit!

  • @MegaEricTube

Lets see - my video has over 5,000 views, so it must have been a big waste of time --- your account is obviously a fake because you're too much of a pussy to sign your name to the things you say. So who's the one "wasting time" here?????

  • this is the ugliest piece of crap in metro north history. the song makes look even uglier. i bet this garbage isnt even new. they may have been refurbished with new paint scheme amd new wheels. then again, it is amazing how this accelerates.

  • Geez I can't stand that pice of crap locomotive!!!!

  • i think the gensets are nicer lol- the paint scheme is nice- better on a fl9 or ES44DC which would never happen lol

  • when you volunteer at the danbury railway museum yo get used to the ugly locomotive it completely killed the New Haven paint scheme

  • I WOULD OF BURNED IT DOWN

  • yeah but then when the fire department responded we would have had to run out and buy marshmallows - cause we wouldn't want them putting any water on this smoldering pile of shit.

  • Funny Song! LOL is right!

  • oh fack! No I don`t!

  • I dont think its that bad.

  • I think they're butt ugly!!! I was sooo pissed when metro north bought these crap boxes!!!! It really ruins my pictures when these sorry excuses for engines are on the point! Bring back the fl9s!!!! - Norm

  • Staten Island Railroad bought these too

  • almost. SIRToa bought 4 BL20Gs (no H). They do not have HEP and thus are not the same as the BL20GHs seen on MN.

I wonder if SIRT has ever gotten any of them working yet????

  • I thought SIR was third rail???

  • it is. but like any third rail system they need diesel engines to power work trains and rescue disabled trains.....

  • its not that bad, kinda looks like a CF7, I don't like the grills on it.

  • LOL i like the song:D, they do look like shit.........i like there P40's better

  • Cool paintjob, but that's about it.

  • cool paint concept, but the colors should be reversed - the orange on the lower side would look a world better.......

  • Yeah, or just making the cab black only, & the rest(nose/long hood) red, like the old school McGinnis paint jobs were.

  • Fugly.

  • imagine if the New York Atlantic Railway ordered these ugh.., or the Long Island RR actually good for long island

  • i've probably written this a dozen times in various places: all they had to do was use a regular EMD carbody, and everything would have been fine.

  • ding!

  • Woah, relax. I meant the diesel engines they use, not the locomotive. I prefer electrics anyways.

  • Made in the USA! I think these engines are usually used to tow coal, grain, and trash trains.

  • X WRONG. THESE DO NOT USUALLY TOW COAL, GRAIN OR TRASH - these are strictly a passenger locomotive model. The one in this video, #125, was THE FIRST BL20GH EVER BUILT, so NO, they aren't used for anything else. No one else but the MTA and ConnDOT have even considered buying them, they are just Passenger locos.

  • Also, while these are made in the USA - so are almost all of the current diesel models used on North American railroads. EMD is in LaGrange, IL and GE is in Erie, PA - so what difference does it make that these were made in Brookville, PA? NONE. THESE ARE UNREMARKABLE.

  • and I really don't understand why so many buffs are so quick to defend these engines - if you read the comments below and on my other BL20 videos you will see why I am so quick to discredit and denounce them. The may someday prove reliable, but that day is not yet in sight, and the MN painted ones may look good, but these NH inspired ones ARE Fucking UGLY.

  • oh my god

  • dude you suck! it's cool. it's not boring!it's good for the envirerment dumbass!

  • I never said it was boring - I just said this rendering of NH paint SUCKS! This engine is UGLY! The MN ones look pretty cool though - account a paint scheme that FITS the carbody it has been applied to. Beyond that we don't know how "good for the environment" these will be because they have been failing too often to tell. They are supposed to be lower emissions - but what good are lower emissions if you can't ever use the thing.

  • this locomotive is frekin ugly it would look beter in another paint scheme

  • looks like a housebrick

  • CDOT #125 just entered service at the start of service on 6/9/08. The engine however promptly FAILED on 6/10 on train 1963!!! HEP FAILURE. WAY TO GO MN! OUTSTANDING RELIABILITY!!

  • not only that, but FL9 2011 towed it back to Harmon! bahahahahahahahaha!!!!! Talk about pathetic irony!

  • that wouldnt look so bad in csx dark future

  • it also wouldn't look so bad melted down and turned into toyotas - assuming these actually contain enough metal to make them worth melting down - I mean after all a Genesis shell is FIBERGLASS - just like the door stop I use on the door to my basement......

  • do you even know why they built them that way

  • what do you mean?

  • hello - what do you mean? why they built them what way? Ugly? I dunno.... Mechanical Failures - Well - it's a Brookville.....

  • I hate that engine!

  • What is the relationship between the BL20GH and the GP-45P, if any? I thought that the Brookville company only made little locos ("critters", I understand you call them), but it's obviously making medium-sized ones now. What is the power unit of the BL20GH, please?

  • I call these engines GP-45P's - other than that I have never heard of a GP-45P.

  • The first video and the worst video!

  • let's see - as of 5/30/2008 at 20:15 this video has 1,394 views, all of yours combined have 206 views, therefore you have absolutely no right to comment until you manage to somehow trick another 1,188 people into watching your moronic videos. So, thanks for your opinion, it, like you, was stupid and unnecessary. I know, I know, I shouldn't pick on twelve year olds, but this kid deserves it for being such a worthless toolbag.

  • i love railfans who love * serious hate engines.

i thought i was the only one who was pysco :)

  • this needs to be repainted...

  • did weird al make that song and if not yo white boy im joking i am white to but i live in a city

  • as it says in the description:

    Music by Bloodhound Gang.

  • I would like to see what you could from the ground up

  • if it were my favorite road csx then it wouldnt be so bad

  • i ment the body shape looks lake a road switcher

  • I agree whole heartedly. Looks like a GP-45P if you will.....

  • i like i dont see how its so bad it should be used for freight tho

  • if you don't see how it's ugly - I can suggest glasses. The carbody might not be bad if it was painted differently - but with this paint scheme it is hideous. As for it being used for freight - it's a metro north engine - they are a passenger railroad.

  • They just had to replace one of the most beautiful and classic locomotives, the FL9 and F10, with the ugliest excuse for a passenger locomotive ever.

  • lmao dude, I fuckin love you! It would look a bit better in NYC lightning stripe, although NH rocks. Still, pretty damn fugly...

  • a sd40 looks better than that! nice vid

  • are you sure it's blue? lol

  • That loco is simply ugly, period.

  • I must say...that is one nice looking blue box car. The rest of it....I can't make heads or tails of what I am looking at.

  • It really wouldn't be so damn bad if they painted it in the WOH Beachball. But being that will never happen, perhaps someone will be kind enough to flush the toilet and dispose of that pile of $&!%.

  • I completely agree!

  • cool diesel locomotive,i love American big diesel locomotives.

  • this isn't a big one. this is a little turd.

  • thats a nice way to put it!

  • it wouldn't be so bad if it had a standard EMD style spartan cab and a half decent paint. the nose is just a box!!! and the cab looks like that of an sw14. it seems they took every piece of equipment that has been considered ugly from every locomotive and say hey look what we made!!!

  • Genny VS Brookville BL-20-GH

who would win in a battle???

    I think Genny would

  • hahahahahaha

  • That's the only one they have, right?

  • so far. a bunch more to come once they accept this one.

  • Hopefully they agree on a different paint scheme before they accept it.

  • That is one ugly locomotive!!!!

  • Also...best part of this video: the first ten seconds (the blue boxcar).

  • the more i look at this engine, the more i stay awake at night and cry myself to sleep, thinking of how I am gonna miss my FL9's and the more i think about sticking my finger down my throat and making myself puke.
