  • @spenckey The Boeing 727 entered service in 1964 and the Tu-154 in 1970. Numbers built are: B-727 = 1,831 vs Tu-154 = 1015. The average B-727 flies more often than the 154, and the 154 flies in harsher climatic conditions (very low temps) often from basic (unpaved/gravel) airfields as is typical over much of Siberia which has permafrost. In this respect it is a bit like a turboprop. The hull loss rates of the 727 and 154 (no. of planes lost out of the total built) are almost the same.

  • @av21031 nice facts

  • thats a shame....and maybe late on increasing alt due to collecting enough speed...maybe....

  • Just to clarify something, will somebody please post when the B-727 and Tu-154 first flew and then entered service. I was under the impression the Boeing was around 1963, and the Tupolev was more like 1969. Just the facts, please.

  • Ample use of ground effect after unstick.

  • Wow,.. thats the old 154B2 version very loud as you can hear.

The Tupolev 154M was also a fairly loud plane, but not like the older 154A and B(2) versions.

  • Seems like an unrestricted climb to me :)

  • Hú, de nehezen kezdte meg a "climbingot":)))

  • Piece of shit is barely able to get off the ground

  • Was the Polish President on this or what?

  • These ancient heaps of junk seem to climb in the air very slowly :(

  • dios mio que despegada aterradora

  • wow, manual trim during takeoff? what caused the climb delay?

  • I don't know but the nose down attitude after rotation is clearly visible.

  • @criticalpass

I think it was just for show.

  • rusische typ tupolev

  • that was loud!! nice

  • It cant be more beautiful, a Tupolev 154 with Malev's color ;D

  • Special voice ...

  • Great catch! Congratulations...

  • When did you take this vid?

    MALÉV hasn't got TU-154 for 3 or 4 years.

    great vid then!

  • 1994, as can be seen in the video!

  • @air1luis lol

  • What a sound :-) Best plane ever...

  • @Stratoscar:

yes sure, it is a great plane. i love the sound verry...

  • @Stratoscar100

emmmm, best plane ever would include a good safety record ... so it is definitely not Tupolev ;) ... but good looks and sounds I have to agree.

  • yeah because i was in portugal in 2007 too and seen the jet in the same spot, not a bad aircraft

  • your right yeah sorry, they look simular I just right away thought it was a tupelov

do you know why the 727 is there?

  • Well, that 727 is private, the owner made a flight to Faro in 2007 I think, then he had problems and never more used the plane. Now that 727 is not in flying conditions, I guess it will be cutted in pieces.

  • that aircraft is always outside the faro terminal building now adays im pretty sure its just for display now

  • Sorry but no, that's not true, there's no aircraft on display outside Faro terminal.

  • well maybe its not on display but i was there today and when i also arrived 2 weeks ago the plane was siting away from the terminal building by itself

  • Maybe you're talking about the 727 on the apron, west of the terminal, it's there parked for a long time ago.

  • bela decolagem , os tu - 154 são imponentes!!!

  • wow...that was a horrible takeoff. A baby could do better....jjk.

  • Well, this was the only type which had this amount of thrust to this weight. Tu-154 was an extremely strong airplane. For example, check my newest video, HA-LCR. It landed in Thessaloniki with gears up, than they took off from the concrete!!! Not wonder why the start climbing so early on this video. (My father was a captain on this type at Malév Hungarian Airlines for more than 9 years! :-)

  • gush, i had flown with this type of aircraft before. scary experinece.

  • well on a hot day it's better to build up some momentum before starting the climb. : )

    there's nothing wrong with it.

    yes it's a kuznetsov nk-8-2u engine

  • Does this aircraft have the Kuznetsov engines?

  • Yes, Kuznetsov NK-8-2

  • what's wrong with it?

  • its a 5º altitude increase right at the takeoff, and then, suddenly, he starts climbing up at a 25-30º.. it should have been a 10º-15º-20º in about 10 seconds, and not a 5º-30º in 3.

  • i think it's a "just for fun" category

Tu-154 was made for the military, and pilots adored it and liked to use its expanded abilitys

I remember a lot of take offs this way at Ferihegy, Budapest

  • abilities

  • I´m hungarian, and working at the International Airport of Faro. It was nice to see a Malev flight there, but unfortunately they dont come anymore. :-(

  • wow look at that 727 go!

  • wow u are a fucken dumb ass

  • It was a hulladék.

  • PERSHING :)))))

  • It was really a great plane, the pilots loved it too. I traveled with it four times, it is big, noisy, very comfortable, and it's landing is very smooth. For me it is beautiful, a bit oldie. Looks better than B727.

  • Look how lazy she is - we can say that climb-ing is not her hobby, she prefer sitting on ground in some museum or be remaked into restaurant :))) But I have to say that I really love soloviev sound

  • yeah i noticed this when i was on a tu154 taking off from dublin i was like is this plane ever going 2 get airborn:)!

  • it was never a lazy bird, was swift indeed

  • boeing sucks :)

  • misminesa23, it is faster and much more beautiful than 727, maybe it is antiecological but don't forget how long ago it was designed!

  • The Tu-154 was created two years before the 727, so how can it be a copy of it?

  • Tupolev-154 older than Boeing-727 ! How it can be its copy ?

  • @RussianVillager1 It's never been older than the Hawker Siddeley Trident though ;). There aint nothing rong with copying anyway Americans did it lol. Im not a big fan of early russian airliners the 154 is good lookin and sounds great but these days that things a heap. I really like the new sukhoi jet thats awesome.

  • Russian quality: Ту-154 совершил аварийную посадку в Минводахn quality;

  • Sorry guys prefer the DC-10 and Tristar L-1011 much better looking to say the least. Plus Concorde kicks ass!

  • I've always liked that "L1011" look with an intake on the rudder leading edge. Noisy engines but turbojets are always noisy. The USAF still flies lots of turbojet KC-135s and AWACs, and believe me they make a racket when they pass overhead!

  • i have flow on TU-154, this very strong plane most powerfully engine, and crash because of bad service.. pl russia.. but it was very safety plane..

  • yeah and hungaryans are sold malev ....

  • TU- 154 is the most beautisful airplane!!!

    ...to my mind :-)

    and Malev the best Airline

  • i agree :)

  • they dont "keep crashing". as I know still there were not accidents with 154 where the reason was aircraft itself (sorry for my english). where'd u get such information?

  • Saloniki, Greece, 4. July 2000.

Malev Tu-154 landed with closed landing gear door.

  • And the plane still can fly with some repair because it comes home by fly. This is what a Boeing never can do.

  • Yeah, because the engines are not on the wings, and they are higher. But I think (and more people think that too) the hungarian pilots do the smoothest landings and take-offs...

  • I disagree....I have traveled on this airlines multiple times....most likely the pilots being Hungarian...and the landing were dreadful unfortunately.

  • I have also travelled on malev flights several times and it was excellent...smooth and safe.

  • That's your personal opinion, compared to other airlines I fly with, this airlines had the worst service, turbulence, food, and landings. But high chances are we haven't been on the same flight, so maybe it was smooth and safe, but not what I have been on.

  • Yep definitely. Actually I've chosen its flights only for a year or so, and only in Europe, mostly from AMS to BUD. I really liked it, I can only compare to european discount airlines, KLM, LH, Delta and AA and I liked it. But then it was definitely not the same flight;)

  • they can't control turbulence though.

  • thats your version. and yes, they are noisy, but they're old! i didnt mean that they are good now. i meant thats my favourite airliner EVER made.

  • ure too naive. this is one of the greatest planes ever made

  • Ту-154 совершил аварийную посадку в Минводах

  • must have been before 2001

  • when was?
