Back in the day, Midway wanted to make a Van Damme video game, but the deal fell through. How ironic, that a few years later Van Damme would appear in a video game, NOT for Midway, but for Mortal Kombat's rival, Street Fighter.
What if they made a movie... OF THIS GAME? Like actually have the game in the movie, and all of the poorly pixelated actors come out of the screen and team up to defeat the villains, who of course are people who make movies of video games (Uwe Boll).
Now, if we're talking about the -actual- movie, on the other hand, I didn't even like that too much when I was young, either. I mean, it had some entertainment value, but they were DOING IT WRONG completely! If you want to watch a Street Fighter film, it's better to go down the animated route, for sure :p
I remember being quite impressed by this game when I was a kid, but that was likely more due to it being a demonstration of the PlayStation's prowess (compared to SNES and Megadrive/Genesis) than the game being that amazing. I remember thinking this track was pretty cool, too.

The repeated sound effect at the beginning of the match, and thruout is the transporter sound effect and console sound effect from the original Star Trek. WTF were they doing using that? It's a very well known effect, and stands out immediately. It's like using the sound of a Lightsaber or a Transformer transforming in another movie or game.
@Draknfyre Having never seen Star Trek when I first played this, it just served to give the stage a little atmosphere. In fact, had you not informed me of this fact I would still have been blissfully ignorant. Hearing a lightsaber sound outside of Star Wars would probably be quite distracting, and also begs me to ask the question: "How the hell does LucasArts/Lucasfilm even allow that?"
Well, at leas the game is a HELL of a lot better than that god for saken arcade game xP this one was actually MADE by the people who made Street Fighter, Capcom themselves

The repeated sound effect at the beginning of the match, and thruout is the transporter sound effect and console sound effect from the original Star Trek. WTF were they doing using that? It's a very well known effect, and stands out immediately. It's like using the sound of a Lightsaber or a Transformer transforming in another movie or game.

@Draknfyre Having never seen Star Trek when I first played this, it just served to give the stage a little atmosphere. In fact, had you not informed me of this fact I would still have been blissfully ignorant. Hearing a lightsaber sound outside of Star Wars would probably be quite distracting, and also begs me to ask the question: "How the hell does LucasArts/Lucasfilm even allow that?"

@blackshikonu Well here are the reasons i like the movie and what makes it great.
1. This was sadly raul julia's last film he was such a good actor
2. Jay tavare was a handsome vega even though he only had two lines
3. Kylie minogue as cammy was hot in the movie and more hot in the game
4. The music in the movie was good
5. I liked the fact ice cube made the street fighter theme it sounds awesome
6. This movie was better then the legend of chun li

@VegaRulezSF Thats all your opinion though. you can't really state that it was better than the legend of chun li as if it's fact when we all have our opinions of movies. I respect your opinion but to me when movies try to follow the game they just fail miserably. the same goes for the mortal kombat movies. The legend of chun li didn't follow the games entirely as she was not a cop in the story and to me that movie told a great story in my opinion.

@VegaRulezSF I don't think the legend of chun li was perfect I can criticize many things I didn't like about the movie. I'm just saying I thought it was "decent" and better than then 94 movie imo. I just seem to like it when they make a movie based off the game and don't try to make it entirely like the game. i guess it's why I love the resident evil movies so much though most RE fans hate them.

@blackshikonu Well I like the 94' movie since it was nearly the Perfect videogame adaptation Me knowing that all costumes were decent also Raul julia was mainly the only person who got Bison's character right. The Legend of chun li might have been better if it had a few actors from the 94' film like Jay tavare as Vega I thought he was good! But we can't change the past!!!

The music is very decent but the Movie the game looks kind of goofy . Maybe if the Street Fighter the Movie wasn't a failure then this game based on the movie would be so much better . They made a game from a stupid failure movie that sucks this and Street Fighter Ex plus alpha 3 and this game was the only two Street Fighter let downs .

I actually don't see much wrong with the game. The mortal kombatesque actors DO look sort of goofy, and it's a bit slower than it seems like it should be but this seems playable.
