He made it clear that he wanted gas to be priced away in order to make the transition to renewable sources happen faster. Yes, that's about a $4 trillion increase over an EIGHT YEAR PERIOD which is still way too much. However, the debt was about $9 trillion when Obama took office and is now over $15 trillion. That's a $6 trillion increase to the national debt IN JUST THREE YEARS. Get your facts right.

With many states IN a budget crunch, state tax on gasoline could easily force the price toward the $ 5.00 mark.

Republicans could get by on this, as it would NOT BE A NEW TAX, just an increase in an OLD tax..

New highway construction by use of "Toll Roads" may be in the works too, as Republicans seek ways to build MORE & WIDER highways, this would not be necessary if gradual improvements were made to existing infrastructure, rather than building ALL NEW highways.

If you know anything about the economy or about the world's Oil situation you would know that, with the increase in demand from China, and India's booming economy, plus oil reserves in unstable countries such as Nigeria and the middle east, Oil prices had to go up.

A gradual increase would have been better than the sudden mess that we are in now.
