mine spinger is 1 years old and is a realy clever hunter!!! He loves go for hunting and loves make me huppy. Is one of the best hunting dog in my opinion.

@squishyfatpigs 70 % are super easy to train like mine the 30 % are hard. I love them they are okay. But they are really really instopable if you know what i mean.

i have a liver and white named tucker. Lol i love his personality. its funny because we know when he is tired because his eyes get blood shot and we will go "hey tuck, is it time to go nun-night?" and he gets up and goes to either mine,my brothers, or my parents room and hops on our bed xD. he is so playful to. He is currently 2 and still acts like a small puppy
i dont think they are an ideal family dog. they are very hyperactive and need lots and lots of excersise. they also have probelms with there ears with infections. i brough my springer from hunting stock, bad decision as he has no pet qualities. always charging around, very accident prone and loves crashes and bangs. people with children need to be wary as they are very protective of there owners and there food. and WILL bite to protect, not clever if you have a young child.

Our springer, Freckles, is a great dog. She generally gravitates towards females, and can get really clingy and protective of the people shes taken a liking to. The only problem we have is she SOMETIMES will growl at our Brittney Spaniel, Shiloh, when he gets too close to someone. (He doesn't care though, hes deaf) Other than that shes a great dog, very attentive and is a good listener. Loyal is the perfect word to describe our springer.

They completely neglect to discuss the springer spaniel syndrome... which is very real, and based on my experience as a vet tech, probably effects most of the breed (provided they aren't trained VERY aggressively and thoroughly). The issue is, they will randomly snap, and attack/bite viciously. They will smile and bounce around happily, and literally in the same breath, snap and bite, and then go back to being happy.
Out of the 7 spaniels that come in to the vet I work, all of them do this.
@bustthewave Very good point! I'm finding a lot of these videos leave out crucial info on some of these breeds! Like telling people a Dogo is a great family pet. Not for most families they aren't because there are too many nutbars out there who will NOT have good control or understanding of these dogs. ALL breeds now have issues but, some have issues that are flat out dangerous. I don't think it helps the breed to sugar coat issues.
When I was a kid I had a black lab/springer spaniel mix. He was extremely intelligent, and so, so loving. Sadly, he spent most of his life on a run in our yard :( We had to put him down for heart worms...near the end it looked like the life was just drained out of him, as though he had given up. One of my goals in life is to find three black lab/springer spaniel mixes with similar markings to his, and raise them with all the love and affection he deserved. Rest in peace, Commander.

@thecarl213 Springer Spaniels, like most breeds, are prone to complications with their anal glands and they periodically need to be expressed. I know its gross, our dog has the same problem.

@mykiba11 No. Springers need to run or they tend to be very destructive. perhaps if you could take him or her out to the country a couple times a week, but otherwise I would go with a lower energy dog.
@pacunurse1 Oh, i was talking about about a field (my preference). I can't say i know much about the bench type. I had to give up my baby because she got really depressed being in the city and I would hate for that to happen to someone else. It still hurts.

Springers are usualy super easy to train!
I have my springer and toilet training was so easy and he already knows 12 tricks!
He is really gd temperment and Generaly are one of the most easy breeds to train!
Apart from lead training they are known 4 pullying and my springer pulls like crazy!

I left mine home when I went to work and things were always perfect when I got home. He was destructive when he was a puppy...but all puppies are..
