  • This didn't really explain anything... I mean, it's kind of funny, but...

  • Lol, what a joke. Explains nothing, and blaims republicans. Do some research people. A few republicans had to vote to repeal this to pass the state senate. It failed the state assembly. Even so, no body with enough money is going to buy a yacht in CA if they are paying a 8 or 9% sales tax. If they have that much money they are buying it for their house in 'texas' or somewhere with a low rate. And it doesnt give them 'no tax' at all, just a smaller amount.

  • haha!

  • It must have been a lot of fun for the Courage Campaign to make this video. What did it cost? It doesn't explain anything.

Sometimes politics aren't so black and white. Did the Republicans want a tax break for entertainment expenses? Which may or may not be a good priority. If you disagree be civil. Demonizing is bad government and that hurts the poor.

Have dialogue. Disagree w/o being disagreeable.

    Tekakaromatagi

  • That looks like a whole lot of fun, I think I'm gonna have to join that party!

  • your use of talking points and the Osama/Obama talking point, Oh I'm sorry, slip of the tongue leaves me to believe that you have been affected by propaganda that Dr. Goebbels would be proud of...

  • I've seen these kind of debating skills from people like you a thousand times: no relevent point or support whatesoever, a load of meaningless insults but no brain, and the typical use "American hating liberal retard". You're the proof that we should taxe yatches to have more schools and better education.

  • Like Republicans would ever let a negress on their yacht

  • Declare martial law. Arrest all Republicans.

  • vorrei essere inviatato anche io a questo party fatemi sapere quando c'è!

  • MilHis101: Do you know why we don't have "innovators" coming from our "crack, Ritalin and gang H/Ss?" Because lack of funding isn't giving them a chance to escape poverty and better themselves. Every year class sizes swell and vital programs are cut. I resent your stereotyping of high school students (10 of my SoCal public high school classmates and I are going to Ivy League schools, along with scores going to top schools across the country). Point being: please, don't be such a right wing jerk.

  • A friend of mine advocate killing a few yacht class traitors... and I told him it was very wrong.. Killing is a mortal sin..

  • Is it OK to think about it though?

  • Don't these people realize that there are no black people in the Republican party?

  • Do I sence a little class envy?

Yes instead of encouraging people to reach higher we should all abandoned our hard earned property and end up like citizens of other countries. I was born under a communist regime and I am proud to be a capitalist p[ig here in the USA The home of the brave and land of the free (well free for a few more years hopefully)

  • Dogonitt, what has this got to do with public education? It's about tax-free yachts. Sounds like you think there should be no taxes on anything, and so no government. Do you want a dictatorship run by whoever owns the most? We've had that; it's called feudalism, and it sucks for most people (not yacht owners, though, I suppose). You also forgot the greed tax levied by employers. More for them and their shareholders/buddies/cronies, less for the workers.

  • wao it s vre god

  • Oh my god! If the rich can't have tax-free yachts, why, why... it's COMMUNISM! How *DARE* those commie Demon-creats believe that the rich ought to pay for the schooling of the servants who serve them their food, sew their clothing, wash their clothes, clean their lawns, work on their roads, etc... why, if they got an education they might get UPPITY and we can't have that, can we?! So it's the AMERICAN WAY to starve the public school of funds. Crack that whip, massa! Yeehaw!

  • What you think "FREE" health care is going to be Free? Wake up.

  • Sweet! Sign me up! (And who cares about the teachers - they're all libs anyway!)

  • Jean Kilbourne would hate this advertisement.

  • Drink the Kool-Aid my useful Idiot Sheep. Let your Public Indoctrination Education Flag Fly. Always remember, Republicans, Achievement, God & Country = Bad, Democrats, Liberalism, Socialism = Good

  • This is why republicans keep losing elections and change is coming to America.

  • amongst everything else that is first rate here, the music is perfect. Who composed it? It's got the bossa nova feel mixed with lounge music.

  • wait a minute there are no young republicans... as soon as u turn republican you turn old

  • who the hell gives out tax cuts during a war who.......bush. over 9 trillion dollars in debt.

  • People who can afford yachts can also afford to pay taxes on them...without hurting at all.

    Get a grip!

How about tax free cars...if they're hybrids and/or have fewer emissions? Screw the yachts.

  • hahah funny

  • Wow, that's the first time I've seen anyone make Republicans look sexy.

  • Ohhh.... Someone didn't pay much attention in Econ 101.

  • ha ha! right on.

  • Omigod! The commies want to drive the yachtbuilders to ruin! Just so there can be schools!

  • Yep, the money's all going to the schools( for the children). Beside who cares about yacht buidlers, mechanics, and repairmen, they are just lower middle class slobs who jobs belong overseas to China and India...so tax away...

  • Dude, I have been in the yacht building biz for a while now. Are you really arguing that yacht buyers can't afford to pay these taxes? If they try to get around paying these taxes by purchasing offshore, it is the govt's job to levy an import duty that recoups it. Thats what we do for cars, etc. That's what pretty much all other indust nations do for yachts. You are expected to pay taxes on luxury goods, just like regular purchases.

  • Dude, your not in the yacht building business, nice try. They get it. The ONLY people that the tax 'hurts' is the working class folks making yachts. Go ask Hatteras, Ocean Yachts in New Jersey, Egg Harbor, Gulfstar in Florida, Viking Yachts in New Jersey. After a similar luxery tax, CS Yachts near Toronto let its employees go and shut it doors as the factory now houses a go-kart racing track. From 300 boats a year to zero. Ecn 101. Abet, I am OK with tariff, if no money went to teachers/schools

  • Dude, I have been sailing and working on boats for over 15 years. I know shipyards, boatwrights, riggers, haul out facilities, and ,yes, even yacht clubs. I have gunk holed with the grotty yachties, and I've crewed on the "Big White Boats" in the Med. If shipyards are closing, it is because they are not competitive with other sources. That is not something you cure with tax breaks. Ask the auto industry.

  • MilHis101,

You cant reason with the retarded Left. These Sheepeople are the result years of public Indoctrination schools directed by the local Communist Teachers Union. Sheep getting ready for slaughter.

  • Well said Dogonitt; if more money went to people who sell, build, and repair things and less went to public indoctrination centers, we might get our economy back, our country back and our children's brains back. Naw...let's keep the Brave New World of Ritalin and Prozac and Crack.

  • Maybe you should move on to Econ 201, where you learn about investment capital. Taxing things can build infrastructure that creates wealth all around. For instance, a public investment in education builds a more educated population to innovate new technologies that create jobs and wealth.

  • Where to begin...let see. 1) To get to 201, you first have to pass 101...let's start again, tax something you get less of it. Therefore, tax boats, less boats; less boats, less builders; fewer builders, less workers. Get it? 2) Build infrastructure, only a true believer thinks the legislature is going to spend tax money on that...ha 3) "Educated population" from public schools is an oxymoron. Innovators, builders, & creators are not coming from your crack, Ritalin, & gang H/Ss

  • 1) OK, I'm willing to trade less yachts for more schools, parks, roads, bridges, aquaducts, sewage treatment plants, and all those other things that tax money pays for. 2) I think the "true believer" is you. Who do you think builds all those roads, bridges, etc.? The private sector? You are almost a self parody. And 3) There are plenty, PLENTY of highly productive citizens with public educations. Try to stop peeing in the public well, OK?

  • Yeah... unemployed middle-class workers for your social programs is a real parody...ha, ha. On wait, I am wrong; all the tax money is going for necessary and needed infrastructure. My mistake...

  • Was your spoon silver or gold?

  • Is this supposed to expose the goings-on of insanely rich leftist celebrities?

Looks like a normal weekend for them, perhaps you good commies should tax them more than the teachers or yacht builders? Nah, commie celebs give too much to the campaign.

I know maybe you commies could demand the commie celebs pay the teachers, since they are so rich! The teachers could even live in their mansions and ride in their limos! Nah, better the peon laborer suffer less wages.

    I get you cats now.

  • Yep! Republinazis are traitors, war mongering fascists, pedophiles. They hate everything that the United States Constitution stipulates. Republicanism has become indistinguishable from the previous brand of Christian fascism that our fathers and grandfathers fought in World War 2 to put an end to.

  • Very nice work.

  • What does teachers being laid off have to do with a tax exemption for the yacht industry? Is it better to lay off the ship builders instead? Our tax structure is messed up.

  • Dakota: "This video has been removed by the user."

  • Great Job!

  • Anyone notice the GOP and "McCain 2008" buttons at the end of the video?

  • Tax the rich dont axe our niche!

  • Stick it to the man!

  • Re: MisterHuman

    Exactly...

  • I want the message that the "Yacht Party" is killing us out there too, it's just that this ad is lame. I'd use the first half of it as is then cut out the silly pouring of champagne on each other (with clothes on?) and show some schools closed or in disrepair. Really juxtapose the rich imagery with the realities of what those tax breaks cause here in our state.

  • i concur , and the imagery is not really over the top enough to be very funny. they could have had really fat hairy guys with fake anorexic chicken heads or something. too many people like me would actually enjoy gettin *any* kind of shower from those girls

  • Good concept and great production value. As a standalone ad, I don't think it's that effective. Aren't most viewers going to think "so what?" after seeing the spot?

  • It's a nice spot-problem is that most Americans don't have a problem with what the ultra-rich do. Many would do it themselves if they were ultra-rich...that's the real problem. Too many watch Paris Hilton and Cribs and think that its a good reality and wish it were them. The lack of understanding of common wealth and what it really means is the biggest problem (that does not mean communism, before anyone says it). I support the Courage Campaign though...and this is not a flame btw...

  • I guess that even those who may envy the lifestyles of the wealthy may still think there's something wrong when their luxuries can be rendered tax-exempt at a time when we're closing schools and other essential services.

  • I hope so!

  • What an interesting ad. Nicely shot. So well done!

  • wow - this is a clever ad.

  • Shaun Kadlec and SK/AR Media deserve huge credit for this first-ever commercial!
