You can tell what model psp by looking at the silver ring at the back

@kaygeo @ 0:44 the ring behind the psp shows what model it is. if the ring is big its a 1000. The ring gets smaller as the model increases. the 3000 has the smallest ring. so thats how you tell what model you have

@derwinmason Wrong. The PSP 1000 and 2000 have the same sized ring, but the design is distinctively different. The 2000 and 3000 are far more similar by design, but that's where the ring is different, the 3000 has the thinner ring and slight design changes.

@xxair3nxx No, Sony has made all their software and hardware region free since the PSP. That means that games from anywhere are usable.

To be specific while the games themselves may have regions the consoles don't so it comes down to store support. To get DLC from a Japanese game you'll need a Japanese account and the Vita only supports one account per title so you'll need to use a PS3 to get muti-region DLC. On a fun note mine's hooked up to my Canadian account and working fine!

Hey How loud are the vita speakers? Is it alot louder then the psp? And Can you play the vita outside in the sun? can u see the screen well in the sun? thanks :)

@Bleachkon1 The speakers are MUCH louder then the PSP speakers. In the sun the screen shows up quite well although darker games like the interiors in uncharted are a bit glarey.

@manuwickrama Actually that's a wifi only version but is Japanese. Worth note however is the fact that the console supports a massive number of languages from boot, not just Japanese.
