I was originally predicting a 45-0 PSU blowout win over Michigan in 2008, but now that Penn State's defensive cupboards are bare, it'll probably look more like this game IF Penn State can still win without Sean Lee. Unfortunately I see a 6-6 or 7-5 season for Penn State without Lee and a trip to the Motor City Bowl.
I wrote that in panic of Sean Lee being injured. From how everyone was talking, I thought that without Sean Lee, the machine would unravel (remembering the Michigan State collapse). But after seeing the defense play in Blue and White games, it's made me forget what happened when they had to fill in for suspended players at Michigan State.
I now see a three touchdown win over Michigan, though. And I've revized my prediction to 10-2 and the Citrus Bowl.
The season where it is now, do you still think 10-2? Think think Ohio St. can still beat us? I know the game is at the horseshoe, but they are a struggling team right now. Losing to USC is understandable (though there was some crappy calls for OSU in that game) but seeing them struggle the week after against Troy makes me wonder how quick Pryor can rally the troops.
I've definately revised that, they struggled against Ohio and Troy and got killed by USC. It won't be like last year since I'm pretty sure Bradley and Paterno won't call a Tampa 2 defense against their only offense (Beanie Wells). I'll gladly eat crow about my comment about our defense, since I think right now we got the best defense in the Big 10. I think right now we beat Ohio State 34-8, and we even beat Wisconsin in Camp Randall (we did blow them out last year afterall).
wow ur predicition 5 months ago could still come true i guess... We could lose the rest of our games. Seriously though now tht are ranked 6 there is a big bullseye on us and now every team in the big ten is going 2 try 2 beat us. I dont think we will beat Ohio State 34-8 at there own stadium. I would say 35-28. We always struggle agianst michigan for some reason so i would say 45-35. and wisconsin will be a blow out.
My original prediction before that was a national championship. But anyways, I think Ohio State we beat 34-8 if they don't have Beanie, 31-27 if they do. Michigan we should beat 45-25 or something like that. We'll go up 31-0 at the half, 38-0 early in the 3rd, and they'll score some garbage time TDs and we'll add one more in the 4th to solidify our pure dominance. Wisconsin should definately be an easy blowout. They have a one-dimensional offense just like last year, and we blew them out 38-7.
We'll be national champs. I think, although it's a loss, the Sean Lee thing was blown way out of proportion. The defense managed to effectively shut out Purdue today, which says that if the defense and offense bring their A-game to places like the Horseshoe, we could go undefeated easily. Wisconsin should be an easy win for us. We soundly beat Illinois, who throttled Michigan, who beat Wisconsin. I know victory chains don't work, but they do with blowouts usually.
I agree with your assessment. I know it has been said multiple times, but this team is remarkably similar to The '94 team. They have a bend but don't break D and what may be the best offense in the country. I also think a win over Michigan would help immensely.
I was also at that game. Yeah, Mercury Hayes got pelted repeatedly with snowballs from the Penn State students and the refs didn't do anything. Still a great game.
Michigan got raped.

Our defensive cupboards are BARE?
Well I think our defensive line would have a bone to pick with you about that.

Wow, 1 shiity loss away from the National Championship. o well, Rose Bowl against a string USC team isnt that bad

True, grant Penn State one point and they'd be in the NCG. I still think we'll beat USC.

My favorite game I ever attended. I was on the 10 yard line 4 rows up to the right of this video frame. Such a great game.

I suppose that the ref's felt bad after the fact. They've been in your pocket for the last decade now

I was at that game. I also remember WR Mercury Hayes of Michigan getting peleted in the eye with a snowball from the student section.
