Nice version of song and instruction, split screen a very good idea. i think if students learned scales while learning chords it would help. i think you mentioned the G major scale as an important part of this song and for what it's worth i think you are right, if one can manage to insert the scale into the intro and first verse, the rest could just be strummed or do modified arpeggio and it would sound fine. but no mistake your way is great.
