Mickey was a worthy winner of the Bafta for his performance in The Wrestler. It was a great film and he was perfect in the role. He was very believable and the humanity and fragility of the character was beautifully acted.
Mickey and his performance is a statement against bullshit - thats why he didn't get the Oscar. The Golden Globe, The BAFTAs and the Spirit Awards got it right. Mickey won our hearts.
It's such a brilliant performance, and I'm really pleased to see Mickey back up there, and seeing him appreciate how lucky he is to have been allowed his second chance.
Im from Orange and Fearne Cotton interviewed him for us on the Red Carpet, if you search for bafta 2009 winner mickey rourke interview with fearne cotton you'll find it!
Insane, unbridled joy for this man! To see him get this kind of recognition after so many years, wow! I thought last year was great when the sublime Coen Bros. won everything, but no, this is the greatest Awards year, no question.
mickey roarke has come down a long & hard road & he took his 2nd chance & made something of it. he owns up to all his screws ups & i give him many kudos for that. i've been a fan for many yrs & it's good to see him get this award which he so deserves.
I think you did an excellent job. What an honor to interview Mickey after such a great moment for him. At least BAFTA got it right for the best Actor, compared to the Oscar's political statement.
BRAVO Sir Eddie. I have watched the Wrestler 3 times now and Mickey's performance ellicits the same (if not at a more intense level) visceral reactions each time. I loved that he dedicated his BAFTA to another great hell raiser, Richard Harris.
So glad he won the award, and what a lovely interview! Just wish he'd take off the shades so we could see those soulful eyes. We don't care if you tear up or cry, Mickey, we're just happy for you! I still can't stop thinking about the Wrestler, he gave such a moving performance.
some actors seem like a hole different species in interviews, but mickey seems so human/Normal

I think he wears glasses a lot because his eyes have been damaged by the boxing he used to do. Anyway, I wish he'd won the Oscar. He deserved it.
