you have to make a sequencer track... where all the moves you do to a selected device, are recorded. I just watched one tutorial about that right here...
Finally, you have given me some direction for my discovery with Reason. Very clear instruction and you don't beat around the same point again and again. I also liked your summary of the tutorial in the end. Thats a nice feature you can try to include in all your tutorials.
I think a lot of other composer such as Mike Oldfield use this technique with drum modulation in sheba, and Ryuchi Sakamoto with the YMO band track with a hardware roland or ems vocoder. good tutorial mister.
I seriously love your tutorials ! But I love ur skills more haha ! Especially the songs done on myspace are very nicely done. Went ahead and improvised the entire way, on all 5 song lol... just couldn't help it ! Thumbs up for all the stuff you're doing for us.
Thanks for this and your other excellent Reason tutorials, Mike. Your knowledgeable and clear guidance has helped me a great deal. I've learnt more from your tutorials than from montsh of directionless twiddling. Please keep up the fantastic work!
thats rad. i always wondered why when I put a sample from the nnxt into the vocoder I didn't get any sound. so its actually vocoding the other input. very good stuff.
thanks..immediately helpful! BTW that song has the same chord progression as Debbie Gibson's "Only In My Dreams." As real as it may seem...it was only in my dreams.
I've been struggling with digital vocoders since mac os 9, thanks a ton for this tutorial! P.S. everything you went through is mac applicable in case you didn't know.
Hey man, I considered myself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to DSP, but the vocoder had always been somewhat mysterious to me until now. Thank you very much, your video was of great value to me, you certainly have big understanding of signal flow!
Hi again Michael. Another excellent tips video. I never thought of using the vocoder with a rythmm to modulate a chord sequence. I'm off to play with that right now. Thanks for the tip. Brilliant tutorials.I can see Propellerheads asking you to do naam shows for them in the future.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, that was awsome^^
I also would like to see a tutorial of using the vocoder and vocals - how to make sort of a "computer-voice" without bringing up or slowing down the speed of the vocals? that would be great!!
Thank You...You can make .rex files by using a program called "Recycle" it is made for just that. Once you make your rex file you can load it in the drrex or the Advanced Sampler in Reason..I may do a video on it..:)
Really good job -- would have taken me months to get to learning/tweaking the vocoder on my own. I'll second on the Recycle leason. I could probably make a video on Recycle, but I have a feeling you have more knowledge about the gnarly details.

spongyplunger 2 years ago
create a sequencer track for the vocoder. Then record the on/off action of the hold button.
