I take that back Canadian Rockies are epic and dramatic like the alps but the American Rockies are like pushed up oversized hills the Canadian Rockies are amazing but so are the Swiss alps they are quite similar
We're taking a Rail trip through the Canadian rockies this summer and I"m super excited. But...question...do I have to worry about altitude sickness up that high.?
I love living in Colorado but i visit my uncle up in Calgary and we went to Jasper its so prestine the water is ice blue and the rivers are so full and wide you dont get that anywhere in the appalacians
@COnative1876 I'm from Nova Scotia originally so I grew up with the Appalachian mountains extending through our province but they are really quite worn down.
@Liroy323 Geologically same forces at work. Rocks are very dissimilar. See if you can get hold of a copy of Ben Gadd's "Handbook of the Rockies." Great resource!
I have been to the Colorado Rockies and the appalachian mountains. I liked it, but they are so not as good as the canadian rockies. Banff, Jasper, Kootenay, radium hot springs, yoho nat'l park, are just awesome. When I went to the appalachians, the nature was not so fascinating as the ones in canada. I like the canadian better
@Nickstahl007 American Rockies are a bit higher but what gives our Canadian Rockies that little "je ne sais quoi" is that that our valleys are deeper. At Golden we sit at 2500 ft on the valley bottom. The Eagle's Eye restaurant at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is at 7000+ ft.
Where are in fact the columbia \icefields in this video??? I cant see them yet... are they coming or are you going to them??? I just came form there yesterday.
Hadn't reached the icefields yet, they were a bit further on. This was my first viewing of the Rockies, it sends a tingle down my spine everytime I watch it.
I'm cryin' right now watching this. The Icefields Parkway , one of the world's most beautiful places. We have lunch at Crowsfoot Glacire picnic site everytime we are able to travel here a and never tire of the majesty of the place .
UM.....Hi....I'm glad you enjoyed the Canadian Rockies, they are my favorite place in the whole world. Just thought I'd mention...are you sure this is the icefields parkway? In fact, this looks to me like you're approaching the Selkirk Mountains on the TransCanada highway. So those actually aren't even the Rockies in your video.
@datacipher I know what you meant. To me it looked like climbing up to Rogers Pass from Revelstoke. For the life of me I couldn't place it coming from Alberta into the mountains or from Golden towards Field. Still a bit of mystery. If they just told us where they were coming from we'd know.
@tignbecky North to Banff from where? West to Banff from Calgary. East to Banff from Golden. Near Lake Louise is the turn-off to Radium through Kootenay Park. So just telll us where you were coming from. We do know our roads. We have to!

Canadian landscapes are beautiful like the mountains of Terelle! There is somebody in Canada that knows Terelle?

Doesn't look as nice as the Appalachian Mountains or the Colorado Rockies.

Errr they are not.
They are the same mountain range... but Canadian Rockies are much more beautiful. And Banff has the most breath-taking lakes in the world!
Thanks for the American bravado though... we *must* have everything in lower 48 don't we? =)

Woah...slow down there buddy...there's a serious speed limit in the parks of Canada. And it's for the wildlife's safety. :)
