  • If I use the normal Connoisseur -Line on the calculator, will it also work well on coco?

and is it a good idea to mix coco with soil? since the soil has an own EC level of 1.2 (the plagron grow mix for example), I thought mixing it up with some coco would lower it.

And if the soil has 1.2 EC as it says, is that all the time, or just in the beginning, when its "fresh"? How to apply the Advanced line on soil that has 1.2 EC for example?

  • Yes, Connoisseur can be used on soil of any type.

Usually with soils that are 1.0EC+, just plain water or 1/4 strength nutrients are applied for the first couple of weeks. As the nutrients become depleted from the soil, more of the feeding is supplied through nutrient solutions. Note that you can use all of the additives at full strength in new soils, it's just the base nutes you have to lower for the first while. Adding the coco to the soil is fine, it may change the pH a bit.

  • @hydroponicssecrets

Do you still manufacture monkey juice?

  • @drgreenmwdf

It has been disco'd, but the factory will produce a special order batch if someone commits to a very LARGE quantity.

  • advanced nutrient is the answer lol. healthy plants never exhisted till advanced nutrients.

  • @sk8forlife90 That's such a narrow view of horticulture. Man has played such a huge role in the development of plants over thousands of years to believe that any cultivar doesn't benefit from caring attention is a little naive.

Can a plant be healthy without our help? Sure. But many of us are growing indoors, where no plant will be healthy without proper tending. It doesn't rain there, the sunlight is poor at best... our plants do need us and they need us to give them proper nutrition.

  • UhOh, looks like we have an industry insider that has an axe to grind and likes to whine and complain behind the anonimity of the internet. Besides, product placement on Weeds must mean Jenji Kohan recognizes quality.

    This guy sounds ridiculous.

  • Advanced Nutrients market their products towards pot growers and are overpriced. It's sad that Eric Biksa wrote for serious hydro magazines, but is an AN apologist.

  • I still write for hydro magazines and love it more now than I ever have.I hope that people enjoy reading my articles as much as I do writing them

Yes, its true Advanced Nutrients products aren't the cheapest. Because of the amount of research, refinement and the purity of materials that go into their products, they have to charge more. I dont have to tell you that if they didnt work as amazing as they do, that they couldn't stay in business if their stuff wasn't better than cheaper products

  • Urban CEA was a great series, but how do you feel about Advanced Nutrients marketing like their product placement on the show "Weeds"? What do you think that does to your credibility in the industry?

  • Hey Erik,

Great explanation of why Monkey Juice is necessary for coco! Also, don't pay attention to the nay sayers! They're the first ones to opt for an iPhone over a cheap imitation. What makes them think that hydroponic nutrients are any different? Ya get one you pay for!

  • Before he can be an Advanced Nutrients apologist, wouldn't there first have to be something to apologize for?

And what would that be? Being expensive? That's silly. If AN makes what they feel is a top quality product using the best stuff, or however they want to justify it, they've got every right to charge whatever they think the product is worth and the market will support.
