  • Was W. Bush still in the White House then?

  • so lovely !!!!!!!

  • 0:31 - 1:07. I could die listening to music like that.

  • This video went viral on Romania

  • is it just me or does the pianist look like snape?

  • Does anyone know if he ever did a recording of this? This is stunning, it works so well with a violin. A whole album of Chopin's Nocturnes, transcribed for violin & piano, with Perlman, would quite possibly be the greatest thing I've ever heard.

  • Thank you very much !

  • Oh my God Itzhak... you're simply the best. No one plays like you.

  • Beautiful. Simply amazing.

  • Viche Maria é bonito demais não?

  • I started to tear up at :57

  • 21 pessoas tentaram ser violinistas..... Não tiveram sucesso kkk

  • it is not true it is not posibal it can't be it is a dream he is not god i think

or i'm in heaven or he is the heaven he has only Perl and Perl

  • 5* com afeto. Obrigada por compartilhar.MEGPESSOA.31/10/11.

  • fantastic !!

  • Regan the president he is also there...

  • This is on Karate Kid. (I finally found the song)

  • @ShadFiascoTSU no duh

  • @joseoleavico1 I'm going to slap you.

  • @Rebeasta Nah, he looks more like Jackie Chan or Keanu Reaves.

  • Even Ken Noda seems spellbound by the talent of Itzhak Perlman, :-)

  • i want to be president just so i can have any performer i like come to the white house. and also to fix the economy :D

  • Very beautiful.

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Itzhak Perlman is the best

  • Chopin !!! youre art is truly beautiful and more adimreable then everything what a human could ever acomplish ....

  • Don't you think Perlman kind of resembles Peter Griffin?

  • @paradox7851 no youre just blind

  • One of my favorite musicians Perlman...

  • performance by the hogwarts academy of muggle music. this can leave people spellstruck!

  • @regaldrifter Laid that one on -THICK-, my man!

  • who the heck dislikes this ?!?!?!?

  • Perlman envisioned this more accurately than any other performer imo. Sarah Chang was close, but he hits it.

  • Greatest violinst ever.....

  • Perlman is performing next year in Toronto.I wanted to buy tickets. The Toronto Symphony will ONLY sell tickets in packages; you have to buy several recitals at a time, some of them for performances many don't care to see. And then they wonder why attendance (and revenues) are falling. Whoever runs their marketing department needs to be fired.

  • grandioso

  • @amxthmnd69 not as awesome as our names... well ya maybe more awesome

  • 18 peeps are angry because it's not in hd

  • remember Nathan Milstein too :)

  • one looks like Schubert and the other Chopin

  • i really want to download a high quality of this.

  • @Rebeasta he is like chopin, the oriental version! jaja

  • @Rebeasta hi is like chopin, the oriental version! jaja

  • KARATE KID!!! XD

  • Bravo, excepcional!!!!

  • i thought music couldn't make me cry anymore but i was just listening to the wrong music.

  • @SleepingBeautyViolin Chopin is at the peak of romantic melancholy. No other composers have his characteristics of that tense romantic emotional expression. And that is why you see Chopin as the most variely interpreted composer.(Did I just made up a word here?...)

  • @CNFrostXY No, you didn't make up any words, only the grammer.

  • @harrynking777 haha I thought the word 'variely' didn't exist in the OED.

  • @SleepingBeautyViolin i thought i was the only one that cried :')

  • i thought music couldn't make me cry anymore but i was just listening to the wrong music

  • such emotion, it brings tears to my eyes every time i hear him play this, thank you itzhak!

  • @stevekim123 napoleon dynomite... hahahaha... good one...

  • Wow... Just wow!

  • maravilloso muy emotivo!!!!!

  • Dang, the video quality makes it sound slightly out of tune in the trills.

  • he should have played Balada by Ciprian Porumbescu, too

  • Former president Ronald Reagan is sitting on the first row, and he is... SLEEPING !!! #LOL

  • @RodrigoCFD how do u do the LOL encapsulated in orange colour?

  • @aloozer I think you can use hash tags with # like in twitter now, #LOL

  • @gunblader928 #LOL thanks

  • @aloozer Just so you all know, this isn't Twitter. No need to put the " # " before a word... It doesn't tag it here on YouTube haha. Anyways, a beautiful interpretation of Chopin. I personally would like to shake this man's hand for a job well done.

  • kinda emo the pianoman.

  • @Fervorum Lol

  • Amazing! Itzhak Perlman is one of my favorite violinists. I am so lucky! He will perform a recital in Hong Kong on coming October.

  • it's odd when pianists first react to this song, pianists think 1:33 is Chopin's evoking of Polish folk music (which appears throughout his music because he missed his homeland Poland). But every violinist plays the chords romantically not light, pianists also think the cadenzas should be light... you have to realize that Milstein took the nocturn and transformed it to violin solo... we can't all imitate the piano sound! we don't want to

  • azn pianist has SWEET hair.

  • wow the pianist looks like he's having a fit even with the chords at the start:L:L:L

  • love....that's all i can say.

  • Hey, you the seventeen dislikers, did you expect Perlman and Chopin to have a BOXING round in here!! goddamit!!

  • i love to listen to the original piano piece by Chopin, however, this performance, violin and piano version transcribed by Nathan Milstein is also wonderful, especially played by the violin genius like tzhak.......

  • @Rebeasta yes hes that bad

  • remember they're at the white house... Perlman made it cry

  • Itzhak Perlman has never, or will never, have an equal.

  • @skatenec yes Sarah Chang equals him and how bout NATHAN MILSTEIN himself !!! Oh and i almost forgot Joshua bell and i guess Yuki manuela can go on the classement to!

  • @21violingirl I would hardly place Joshua Bell beside Perlman. Perlman at his best is a level Joshua Bell has or never will reach, he is a fine player, but Perlman is a descendant of the great line of violinists, the last of the old masters. It is foolish to even compare the two especially after hearing this video.

  • @skatenec what about paganini?*trollface*

  • @Giuglea7 haha paganini doesn't count, he sold his soul to satan >___>

  • @Karmakameleeon i don`t see any problem in that:D..I think Niccolò Machiavelli had a famous saying on things like that;)

  • @Giuglea7 by golly, i think i replied to your comment on two separate occasions with the exact same thing O.O

  • arkadaki piyanist abiye laf atmayın ibneler sizi

  • I bet Reagan fall asleep because Itzhak played so well he couldn't resist ... too relaxing!

  • This is my favorite piece Itzhak has played. Makes me bawl like a lil schoolgirl hahaha

  • the pianist annoys me for some reason, but Itzhak is like heaven!

  • i love this piece! but...i just cant connect to it the way he plays :/

  • @SergeCWazukie Me either...sounds too....sterile? I know some say Midori, or Chang play like robots...but I think both of them add more to the piece than this particular recording. Midori's Carnegie Hall version is just about my favorite ever.

  • why ?????????transcription.

  • Genios!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Perfection.

  • Ha Reagan is totally asleep at 1:31

  • :20 you can see Reagan in the background beyond the pianist.

  • WOW, what a brilliant sound

  • Cómo extraño tu amor y tus caricias,

cómo te añoro ahora que ya no estás,

que te has marchado de mi para siempre,

y que tal vez ya nunca volverás…

    (j.m.moreno.- "Nocturnos").

  • Bravo !

  • one word:

    Midori.....

  • More Beethovenian than Chopinian?

  • @chiehwenwang how so? :)

  • @332synic233 The sickness and weakness is not sufficient. Please go to listen to Midori's version. :-)

  • he rushed it a little...if it was slower it would have been more emotional..

  • @livelaughlovehelina It's a noctune dude....not a requiem..!!!

  • @90Lyka i guess so... i see ur point...

  • Best current violinist of our time and will eventually be considered as an all time great.

  • it toutched my soul, a great musician....a great talent....

  • Eargasm.

  • WHAT KINDA PEOPLE DISLIKE THIS MUSIC??? STUPIDS!!!!!!

  • Oh my earth, did you see him playing those notes almost at the end? that is really hardcore and he did it like it was nothing. The one thing i would fix if i go back playing violin again is i would like to accomplish doing vibrato on the pinky finger.

  • Beautiful! A true master of the violin! Great Chopin nocturne. Thank you for posting..

  • one of my biggest dreams is to listen to him during a lifeconcert ...

  • @dzeljpiano Yes, totally agree, I would love to hear him play!!! One more thing to put down on my list for things that I dream about, however, I am determined to do them... Hopefully, hopefully, that will include seeing him in a live concert. I have never heard a violinist play the way he does; with such clarity of sound, and richness. I think he could play any violin and make it sound good!!

  • Hahaha, such a youtube hate fest. I am glad that this nocturne is played so elegantly. It drowns out the obnoxious intolerance of others. Keep it up, Perlman.

  • How can *anyone* possibly dislike this?!? Some people are not worthy of having ears, or a computer mouse!

  • @iyeoh1 You should shut up, and respect others opinions.

  • Look it's Reagan and co in the front row.

THUMB THIS UP IF YOU AGREE !

  • @bopkick5 Ronnie and Nancy @00:10 ! good eyes!

  • Way tooo fast! If you compare this with Midori Goto, this is zero! Sorry, nothing against Itzhak he's very good! But I don't like this. There are many emotions, but I think he isn't on the level, that he could play this, how it should be played!

  • The emotion is too strong for fragile Chopin?

  • I discovered Karate Kid through this music ;)

  • Comment removed

  • intense..

  • ohh no somebody discovered this song through karate kid, is it such a bad thing? I mean they're discovering the music none the less. Quit being so stuck up about it.

  • @nfshaw1 - Hear hear!! I'm a classically trained musician, but even for me there have been great pieces that I first discovered through the movies (eg. Barber's Adagio via Platoon). If people have no other exposure to great classical music (which is generally the case nowadays), then I wonder how else exactly they are supposed to learn.

  • @RSVPBlogger thank you I am glad at least one person understands! I love clasical music but there have been many instances where i have discovered it through movies.

  • last note is too low for this piece

  • the pianist looks like chopin if he had been asian!

  • @metalheadlass ahaha... Maybe a Chopin Look a like. Not bad too.

  • Not liking the slight technique glitch at 3:17

  • Simply touching and touchingly simple; sublime, too

  • Beautifully played...my fav violinist.

  • Gabe Kaplan plays the violin??? what??

  • YES! THIS SONG IS FROM KARATE KID!!!!! I CANT BELIEVE PERLMAN CHOSE TO PLAY A SONG WRITTEN SPECIFICALLY FOR A REMAKE OF A KIDS MOVIE!!! OMG!!!!

  • @fehrboy91 lol r u making a joke, he played the song in year 2007 not in 2010.

btw this is a classic masterpiece...

  • Piękne i wzruszające! Chopin+Perlman=ABSOLUT.

  • karate kid ? WTF ???¡¡¡¡ is is one of the best melodies ever composed with one of the best interpretations ever only enjoy and shut up ¡¡¡

  • Chopin + Perlman = Perfection.

  • @theraviolicat No just Perlman + Music = perfection

  • @kdoggydog4 Well said.

  • Reagan in the first row?

  • @a1rb0rne502 Ha ha! I just saw it, nice eye. :P

  • He plays beautiful, and his violin is gorgeous

  • Better hold on to this one, doubt we'll see such talent, or class, in the White House for a while longer.

  • Plus embedded is disallowed on this version

  • doesn't Midori play the song from the New Sherlock Holmes movie too?lol. The only reason this version is more popular is because Ronald Regan is in it.It can be said that Midori's performance at Carnegie hall is better, it has more range, the passion requires one to be far less introspective and far more mesmerized by the feeling that the piece transcends the player and the listener,it is pure solidary sorrow, inexplicable in it's way of not needing to play out like a two step ho-down like Perlman

  • Excellent violin player.

  • excellent. Midori has a wonderful version...you'll be amazed.

  • hey is this the song from karate kid?

  • Absolutely beautiful!

Hey, people, don`t show your narrow-mindedness, is it Chopin, can`t you see?

    Karate Kid? ugh
