  • Hey , this's better than a professional lecture, waaaaaaaaaw, u should become a consultant on ulna nerve entrapment.....................i appreciate your narration.

  • Thanks!!! My son yesterday was Dx with ulnar nerve compression (computer usage). Your video was informative and helpful. Berna

  • hi, ive had the same thing at the elbow on both arms. i had surgery on both my left and right elbow in september, the tingling is still there! it is really annoying me. my hands are constantly itchy and i find that my little finger tends to twitch too. i hope the sensation comes back (for both of us :) please let me know if yours does.

  • Good Luck, wishing you a full recovery

  • Hello I want to thank you for taking the time for making this video! I woke up a week ago with the numbness and did not think to much about it, but it hasn't gone away. I see you play the drums, I play guitar and now seeing your video I will go straight to the doc's!!! Thanks again for your time and God bless!

  • @kt2531

God Bless + Best to you and your Family

  • Good luck to you Phyllis!!! I hope you get all your drum skills back!! God Bless!

  • Thanks for video's, I got no information from surgeon before or after surgery. Had surgery on elbow and trigger thumb on 25th Aug 2010.

No warnings, care or recovery time

  • @1crazypj

God Bless + Best to you and your family

  • I completely understand I have Cubital Tunnel Syndrome in my left arm/hand. I am in an industry that I have to keep my arms in a bent position for a long time so the right arm is starting to show symptoms as well. Good luck to you.

  • I am going to have surgery for this and am really nervous. Have not had surgery with anesthia since I was a child. It hurts to type and it is my livelihood.

  • Hi Phillis......when i saw ur video it helped me figure out whats going on with my hand, its been 3 mths since I went to doc and i cant even get close to making a fist. They put me on low doses of steroids and arthritis meds and now i have muscle wasting, im set up for an MRI 3 weeks from today. I feel they r just letting this go and im afraid it will do alot of damage,,,,,,,,,,the VA is a slow process....any advice besides kicking them in the butt? rosemacfarland/facebook

  • i play guitar, ride bmx bikes, and sit at the computer a lot

so i am a prime candidate for Cubital tunel syndrome and i have an appt monday for weakness and pain in my 4th 5th fingers, GOOD LUCK!!!!!

  • @fbmuthafker i injured the same nerve as pmb003 but by falling on my funny bone. i was numb and weak for at least months and months. i just protected it with an elbow pad and did exercises every day and evetually i fully recovered. proper ergonomics is key to preventing alot of these types of injuries.

  • Hi, i need someone to help asap- i have this pain under my left ear, like its in my neck, but next to my ear. but its so painful only when i eat or drink. Maybe its a nerve thing, but im really scared- 2day a mate was messing around and fucked a pen at me, i was wondering if that would be the reason? can someone help me quick thankyou :)

  • Thanks for the video...can you have local anaesthetic for this injury

  • i drive a tractor trailer. I have ulner damage in my right arm which is my dominant arm, and hand. The pain is unbearable. Someone, do you think I should change professions?

  • i hit my elbow really hard and couldnt move it or feel it for about 5-10 minuets and now everytime i slightly hit it i lose feeling and i cant move it for a short period of time

  • i have that! i just got surgery for it. i had this injury since april and just got it fixed.

  • Thanks for sharing your experience. I have been experiencing numbness & tingling for about 2 weeks now. Planning on calling my dr. in the morning. I'm currently studying to become a massage therapist & have been learning about nerve entrapment & impingments. I'm on a break from school at the moment & the numbness started on my break. Might be a bit hard to massage when I go back. I am also a percussionist. Glad to see a fellow female drummer! :) Thanks again!

  • I have been dealing with numbness is my ring finger and pinky finger for a couple of years now. My doc just refered me to a nero doc. he said that I might need surgery. My question is how long was the hospital stay and recovery time.

    Thanks

  • hi all

im NINETEEN and hurt it from working out far to often and too long, i would lift 6 days a week...stoned..lol.. i had a nerve conduction velocity of 42 over the elbow, ulnar nerve, cubital tunnel...anyone have the surgery young? anyone be able to lift weights after ANY type of ulnar nerve surgery?!?!? thanks!

  • @mikerobinsonn

    yo dude same here

i lifted way too much.. everday...

now im pretty sure i have ulnar nerve and im not sure if i should keep working out

it fucking sucks cuz all the harde work is to waste

  • @coldsummersky69 ya it SUCKS. and i feel like shit about it, i was so used to lifting daily, and all the sudden it's like, will i ever be able to lift like that again?

i mean, im only 19, and idk if im getting surgery yet, i can lift like 4 days in a row, then quit for TWELVE, and it heals, it sucks.

what really blows is that i originally had tendonitis in both elbows for 8 months b4 my nerves acted up, in march it will be a year, i was 6'6 220 7% BF, and now im 6'6 185...its depressing

  • @mikerobinsonn

did you go see the doctor yet?

ima go see doctor today or tomrow and settle this piece of crap

  • @coldsummersky69 ya i already got an emg done in october when i just had 'tendonitis' and it revealed moderate slowing of the ulnar nerve at the elbow on both sides, i think i've developed radial tunnel in both arms too, no emg yet, but im almost positive i started getting it in december. i have heard it's and 'anatomy' problem and that ppl like u and me have smaller nerves grooves at the elbow, i'm getting the transposition no doubt soon, in both arms so i can hit the weights im depressed hbu?

  • Just found out i had this today, my pinky, ring finger and side of my palm have been numb for about a week now, on and off though. I'm sure i got it from leaning on my elbow. Will be going to doctor soon, hope it's not too serious at the moment and won't need an operation. Thanks for the video though.

  • hi phyllis, had your operation 3 days ago, still got the numb pinkie finger, but the cold sweats have gone from the whole arm, thank you for your video and i hope you and i eventually get the feeling back in those fingers.heres a laugh for you, guess how i got my nerve damage? i rode a motorbike 7,800 miles in 12 days non stop.if only i knew then what i know now.ah well we're all clever in retrospect, best of luck to you phyllis

  • had the same problem years ago, you tell people they say you mean Carpal Tunnel and you tell them NO it's cubital tunnel. You have to do the surgery or the feelings will not return ever.

  • @WillBackbone -how is your ulner nerve and elbow now? How long until it fully recovered, did it fully recover?

  • i was having the same symptoms finally went to the doctor cause i was scared found out i have the ulnar nerve entrapment i was told i may have to go see a specialist & you are right it is agrivating have your two fingers numb now my hand is starting to get weak.. thank you for the information it was very helpful i now know what to expect

  • I feel your pain, I went to the doctors today (one hand typing, sigh...) I got some anti-inflammatory cream, and some intense vitamin b6 pills... it sucks, my hand is also weaker, the numbness doesn't go away. It happened a week ago, I pinched the nerve on the edge of something, arm rest or table cant remember. How is your condition?

  • I just had this surgery this past Thursday. My surgeon was going to do the Cubital Tunnel Release (as you had done), but he ended up doing the release and repositioning of the nerve. I hope this is the answer for me...God Bless You

  • @mom2ahandsome3yrold0 -hi, how is your repositon of your ulner nerve workling out, how long until the surgery healed and you become 100%

  • God be with you I'm going through that right now. I'm 21 and a CNA it gets to be very aggravating. i go through work just fine do not notice it until i rest then it gets very painful. my doctor did not give me splint just 800mg of ibuprofen.

  • when you close your arm up ever (like your going to touch your shoulder with your hand) do you ever feel a shock of nerve come from your elbow to your hand?

  • Hi Phyllis,

Thank you for making the video - it has been really helpful. I am having the same surgery in 3 weeks time and am a little nervous. Just hoping to get some feeling back in my fingers/hand. Many thanks - wishing you well,

  • I am terrified that my hand will never be the same. I'm a mother of 3 young children. I am an artist. I worked in Hospitality and did secretarial work. I am devastated. I came to youtube and found your video...it helped me understand what I will be facing. Please keep us updated on your healing. Peace to you and your family. (hugs)

  • HI Phyllis,

Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to share with us your experience. I'm in tears at the moment. I just returned from seeing the Neurologist. Extensive nerve testing was done. I have been trying to get into the doctor's and specialist for months now...it has been nearly a year since my first tingling feeling started. The Dr. explained that I have severe muscle loss and will need to have corrective surgery.

  • @xxLabrat407xx How was your surgery on ur elbow, how long until fully recovered, did u fully recover/

  • Just wanted to say thank you so much. I started to have these symptoms a weeks ago, and it drove me crazy not knowing what it was. I did the same test you showed on your video and that was all the confirmation I needed. I will try to stay off my elbow and be careful how i sleep. But I know eventually I might just have to go see my doctor. But thank you again, and i pray that u recover well

  • Aloha Phyllis,

I`m Getting the surgery done Jan 29,

Thanks for the Information. GOD BLESS TAKE CARE...

  • Hi,

I was diagnosticated with Ulnar Nerve Entrapment in april 2008 but I will not get the surgery until august 2009.

The problem is that until a couple of weeks I had "sleeping fingers", but now I feeel I lose every day more and more of the strenght on my left hand.

I also read on the web that muscle strenght is irreversible. That is really scaring.

Did I mention that I am a musician and music teacher?:(

    Any advice?

  • I've got the exact same injury, I'm a guitarist and also did landscaping. All the symptoms, the surgery (did it one month ago) are the same.

But they didn't tell me that it's gonna take that long to heal. I was already worried that the surgery was unseccesful when the numbness didn't go away.

Hope you will be able to keep on drumming.

I know how frustrating it is as I can't play any guitar now.

    Thanks for the vid!

  • great stuff

    many thanks

  • Phyllis, I remember watching this some time ago, but had totally forgotten about it until your message. My family doctor did a nerve test, & diagnosed it, then I went on medications & the splint - but none of that made the numbness go away. I hope my numbness goes away with the carpal tunnel surgery!! My doctor said it might take a couple of months since they had been numb for a few months.

  • I'm thinking I have a minor version of this - real minor numbness in left pinky/ring fingeer, but severe pain at the elbow. Helps to research this all before I see my Doctor. Thanks for the good info!

  • Turns out I've got the same problem...I play the guitar...a lot. Its terrible... How long AFTER the surgery did you make this movoe?

    Warm regards,

    Pascal

  • Hello,

Ulnar nerve gliding exercises have been demonstrated to have good outcomes in conservative management of cubital tunnel syndrome. Perhaps they may help in this instance? Go easy on them though, initially less is more (to avoid a flare up and exacerbation of symptoms).

Hope it settles down and starts to behave itself soon.

  • Hi Phylis, my 16 year old son just had this surgery but his was due to the nerve rolling back and forth over the bone. They said this was something genetic which I know all too well is. I coached baseball for both of my older boys, every time came home from practice, I would ache severely for days.

My 16 year old is having the exact same symptoms that he had before the surgery too, we are worried it didnt work! UGH!!!

  • Hi Phyllis,

I'm dealing with the same thing! Thank you for sharing your experience - my heart goes out to you. I think you will just get better over time. Happy healing.

  • Hi Phyllis, Yr video is VERY useful, coz' I have just the same Pb, caused by my arm squeezed in bad sleeping position. Operated July 22 but 6 wks later, exactly the same awful numbness. And now muscle atrophy between thumb & index finger. I worry less now, knowing it will take months to recover. One surgeon said it will take 1 mm/day to restore. Let's see in a couple of months what the progress is. Hoping for the best, while being prepared for the worst and taking whatever comes (Confucius).

  • i have that in left and carpal in right

  • Hey, I hope your hand will recover completely, but I'm glad you can still play your drums, hope to see a lot of vids from you :D

Thank you for the kind comments on my vids^^

  • Hi Phyllis

  • Im not the only one!! So, I am scheduled to have this surgery next Tues, July 1st, 2008. i was wondering what kind of cast or wrap you had after your surgery?

  • Ohh Nooo! Thats Messed Up! Ouch!! :(

Take It Easy Phyllis And Dont Play The Drums

For Awhile So It Can Heal Properly,Cause If You Play You Might Make It Worse From Stressing The Elbow Nerve.Take It Easy For Awhile.

  • Hi Phyllis, hope you are completely well now. I just got the exact same surgery on June 05 in Toronto. Fiber glass cast replaced the plaster cast a week after surgery which feel much more comfortable. Please tell me how the improvement goes after the surgery. I am a crazy golfer just can't wait to go back on golf course before summer ends.
