Well, in the director's cut, he calls her Francesca, but I don't much like that version anyway because I feel it doesn't really fit the story in the song. You made a nice vid though.
I love the Decemberists, but nearly as much as I love your backgrounds. I feel ashamed that it took me this long to actually watch this video, but it's fine in that I feel more than good enough, because you did such an awesome job on it! I can't wait till you see Spencer Hensel's and my newset stop motion project, it'll be 2D and we've been working on it for almost 2 months. But needless to say, this is great, flows right, feels right, edited right, just plain down right... right
Thanks. Now, by skipping do you mean the video itself skipping? For that'd be a youtube problem then. But if you mean skipping as in the shot of Valencia's legs sort of running/jumping to the guy...Well then I'd agree. That animation bit's fiddly...to say the least! Thanks for watching!
It was a little expositional, however, the animations worked. I liked the background parts: stars, buildings, the unrelated moving images that float along behind them while they sing. I thought it...pretty (?) I'm not sure that's the right word, but it was aesthetically appealing in any event. I also appreciated the muted colors with exception of fire and blood which seemed to be the most pronounced of the colors. Good job; also how are you doing? Sorry I stink at e-mail.
I can tell you put a lot of time into making this, and it must've been fun. Don't sweat it about the contest, you win some you lose some. Anyway, the animation was really cool and creative, and it was interesting how it combined with the live-action.
Thanks! As always, I appreciate your comments. And yeah, I'm not bummed over not winning or anything! I'm glad I did it, for well, it made me do a cool animation I never would have made otherwise.
Just to let you know, I just saw the "director's cut" of the "official" music video for this song, and yours totally kicked its ass. They shoulda hired you instead.

Her name isn't Valencia, that's the name of the street. It never really says her name in the song.

Wooooops, well then there goes my music video, huh? Ahaha. Yeah, ah well, artistic interpretation, ever heard of it? Joking.
