On disobeying Spiers for the second time, Spiers shot him between the eyes. Reported to his C.O who was killed the next day. Spiers, one of a kind. Lived to 86yrs old. Who would have thought.

The only 3 company's that get most focus in this film are Easy(E), Dog(D), and Fox(F). and Grant happened to be an officer from E company who gets shot. the only thing we know about the guy shot him was that he was a drunk replacement from I company.

@youse12132 sort of. the bullet didn't kill him and the german surgeon was able to remove the bullet from his brain, but he couldn't fully function (obviously), but he died a few years after the war.

I don't remember in which book I read it, but I'm pretty sure Spiers said that he pulled the trigger on that replacement, but for one reason or another the weapon didn't fire. Obviously he could have tried again, but Spiers just left it at that.
