Die sommermelodie, a great entry? Certainly not!!!
Gigliola Cinquetti, better than ABBA? Give me a break!!! Let's get things clear: Gigliola Cinquetti is a superb artist, but there's no use in comparing her with ABBA, totally different music styles!
Boring and overrated: Long live love, the song, NOT OLIVIA!!!
I was really digging the band Korni from Yugoslavia. Can anyone tell me more about them? Am I wrong to think they were easily the most innovative or experimental of the bands honored in Eurovision '74?
Not hard to see why ABBA won, a lot of boring songs were sung, but I see now why Great Britain gave ABBA zero votes. Olivia. But, they didn't need them, and they won without GB's votes. Yet, GB has been one of the countries that have loved ABBA the most since then. Thanks for posting, we get a chance to hear what the songs from that contest.
What was with the scoring that year? It seemed to revert back to the pre-1970 system. And didn't Gigliola Cinquetti blossom into a lovely woman from the girl who won ten years previuosly?
yes, apparently, the "new" system they had from 1971-1973 didnt do too well, so they went back to the old system. I liked the system where the judges held up their scores better. At least each country was guaranteed to get 2 points. It's not fair that certain countries didnt get any points in the past. And yes, Gigliola did blossom lovely. It's a shame she didnt win. She was better than Abba IMHO
hey, you're giving the points the wrong way!:D in 1974, you must distribute 10 pts among the entries. For example, my points would be: 6 to Italy, 2 to Yugoslavia, 1 to Greece and 1 to United Kingdom.
Here are my votes: 1 point to Germany 2 points to Yugoslavia 3 points to Italy 4 points to the Netherlands 5 points to Luxembourg 6 points to United Kingdom 7 points to Israel 8 points to Spain 10 points to Sweden and 12 points goes to...Greece !!!
12 points - Greece
10 points - Yugoslavia
8 points - Belgium
7 points - Israel
6 points - Netherlands
5 points - Spain
4 points - Ireland
3 points - United Kingdom
2 points - Luxembourg
1 point - Sweden
