  • JUST GIVE ME YOUR TALENT

  • @lathamdesigns It is not talent. It's practice and persistence. You want it bad enough, you will have it. It's true! ;-)

  • Can you plz make a video on how to probably shade a face with pencil?

  • @ApolloSol There are a few on my website and some vids on my channel.

  • Is this a one-layer painting? good work, btw :D

  • can u teach a tutorial on how to apply certain textures on the painting, i mean using the brush only!!! i wud love to see IT... :-D

  • @TheRipBOSS Did you watch all of my +240 video? That's right, a few should be in there.

  • @idrawgirls hmmm... u r rite, THANX!!! actually i didn't watched all of them.. :-D

  • I feel like I should know this already, but I don't: Do you do everything on the "background" layer, even the initial sketch?

  • Very nice Xia, I think the ear could stand just a little bit more definition.

  • @idrawfantasy He fixed it up a bit on the blog.

  • How much time did i't take fore you to draw this portrait ?

  • beautiful.

  • do you painting that from a photograph or are you drawing that from your head?

  • Pretty!

  • Hi Xia! i was just wondering.. im 17 and ive been practising drawing alot lately... on paper with just a normal B mechanical pencil.. practising anatomy like crazy.. and trying to get my lines down.. i was just wondering, when do you think someone young like me should move over to digital and do more serious, professional pieces? it feels stupid putting 10 hours down on a painting if i could practise drawing say, poses for 10 hours on paper. Awesome portrait btw! it looks so cartoony in thestart

  • @idrawgirls Hmm, I do usually move on if i can't get it the first few times. I'll work at it more, thanks.

  • I was just wondering yesterday where you've been. I was glad to see some new videos on my front page.

  • Great work as usual. I think my biggest mistake is trying to get every single detail as perfect as I can. It ends up slowing me down a lot. You seem to work quickly without spending too much time on small details and it still comes out looking amazing. Also, is there a tutorial on the coloring you do? Mine never looks right when I try going from grey to color. Maybe i'm using the wrong saturation levels or something.

  • When you started out with the gesture drawing, I was like, that looks horrible... But then I kept watching and it was like magic lol.

  • Great painting! From such simple beginnings, a masterpiece can form!

Just one thing I noticed was that it might be a little better if you rendered the ear in a bit more detail. But the face is the most important part, and it's exquisite.

  • @Rationalific thats exactly what i thaught !!

  • I can't help myself from dancing to this music!

  • you must have a really big screen to draw on. How comes you never zoom in for the details?

  • @rockandsalvation Can you zoom in on paper or canvas? Zoom in = thinking too much Keep it simple, it will turn out.

  • @idrawgirls Ok tks!

  • @idrawgirls :O Wise words. I think one of my biggest set backs is trying to focus on the little details...

  • should draw more azn women like this one, this is one of my fav.

  • Also, when I download the free videos and brushes on the blog, it only ever gives me the videos for some reason :\. It's not incredibly important, but I'd like to take a look at them anyway.

  • Xia, I seem to have problem with portraits where I always screw up the perspective. For instance if I'm doing a study of a skull I can get it to look like a skull, but I can never get it to face the same way as the reference.

Is there any tips or "hints" that you can give me for getting this correct?

  • @Lydomina If you don't succeed drawing it 10 times, then do it 100 times. If you don't succeed doing it 100 times, then do it 1000 times. I am being serious. peace!

  • @Lydomina Draw the negative space around the object first. Just lightly sketch it in. Then find out how your subject sits(which direction) in its environment and then you will be able to translate that onto your drawing.

  • @Gingerblaze I think I usually lose the direction in the details somehow, I always end up skewing the features, especially the eyes :P.

The negative space thing might help my proportions at least though, I might give it a shot.

  • WOW !!!!!!

  • how long does it usually take????

  • @DontAskJustListen2me A few hours

  • Outstanding brother
