The early Church Fathers say that God became man in order for man to become what God is by grace. We must "clothe ourselves with Christ" (Gal 3:27) Who came in order so that we can renew our fallen nature, and put on the "New Man" (Col 3:10). Being made partakers of the Divine Nature (2 Pet 1:4). The Scriptures speak not only that the soul must become a "new creation in Christ"(2 Cor 5:17) (we are not dualists) but also of the body as well. The body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit. (1 Cor 6:19)
I did my research today & learned all of the real historical facts on this bogus letter made on purpose to confuse people on what true Christianity is. It is more like some person back 1000 years ago decided he would produce a fake letter for what ever evil purpose he had in his heart. He wrote this to some other people. Perhaps they were his followers. He was obviously make statements about things he had no real knowledge of. We fine now & make all kinds of Stupid choices to believe a lie.
@MPPFLIPP Sir, with all due respect, this is the Epistle of Barnabas, not the Gospel of Barnabas. The Epistle of Barnabas is well attested to in the early Church, and even exists at the end of the New Testament in the Codex Siniaticus.
@Apocryphile1970 Why don't you go and visit an Eastern Orthodox Church sometime? God is spirit and He is a mystery. He is not known so much in letters as He is in the heart of man. So for you to think that there is some kind of undiscovered secret that was held from Christians, you are not correct. The key to the "secret" is in the purification of the heart. "Blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see God"
Don't dirty your heart by thinking evil of the Christian Churches.
@Apocryphile1970 I have not had time to go back & recheck what I read but I did use the words in my search of (Epistle of Barnabas) and did not see anything with the words 'Gospel' I am going to look further to see what the difference is in what is said about these 2 letters. of Barnabas So either what I have pasted was about the ' Epistle' or the sites I saw use that term also for the ' Gospel' version.
> It has wine stored in wooden casks--a common practice in later 600 AD Western Europe, but unknown in the Middle East in the first century. The Old Testament quotes in this manuscript come from the Latin Vulgate, which was not produced until about AD 400. The examples can continue for a very long time. Bottom line, there is no chance whatsoever that this book was produced any time before AD 1000, and there is no evidence here whatsoever for Jesus mentioning Muhammad. It was a made up letter
an error that the real Barnabus certainly would not make. It calls Jesus "Jesus Christ" (ie Jesus Messiah) yet has him saying he is not the Messiah (ch 42). It has a jubilee being held every 100 years, when any Jew, including Barnabus, would know that these come every fifty years. It has Adam and Eve eating an apple, a common mistake in the late Middle Ages, but not one a Jew in the first century would make. CONT>
Here are some FATS ON EPISTLE OF BARNABAS THE The fact is that this teaching is contradicted by all for of the canonical Christian gospels. Other obvious historical errors in this "Gospel of Barnabas" includes the claim that Jesus sailed across the Sea of Galilee to Nazareth (Ch 20-12) when this city is not near the lake. It has Jesus born during the rule of Pontius Pilate!!! The writer of this book seems to not realize that Christ and Messiah are the same word in Hebrew, CONT>
I believe these non-conical REJECTED books can be read for historical enlightenment & to get a feel for what was being spread at the same time the GOSPEL was but not for knowing GOD better. Knowing the circumstances of life in that time & understanding the Apostate teachings of that day, but only once U have memorized the Bible1st 2 guide & guard your thoughts & protect U from bad teachings as some of these lost books contain much of. As is today there was much Apostate teaching then. GUARD U
@MPPFLIPP We should follow the apostolic tradition preserved in the one, holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. It is the "pillar and foundation of truth"; 1 Peter 3:15.
@evo55 Please explain to me in a short a message as you can without cutting anything out what these letters have in them that is not found in the Bible. Thank you, flipp
@MPPFLIPP The Epistle of Barnabas denies that the Jews ever had a covenant with God. This is contradictory to what is taught in the Bible. The Bibles teaches that the Israelites (Jews) were given the Torah which was sealed by the rite of circumsion.
Seems to me the Bible alone should have done that for U, alone. I can not imagine the Bible not getting anyone excited if they are truly seeking to know HIM & HIS Thoughts & are walking in the Light of the Lord. If it took one of the rejected books to do this to U, then something is wrong in either U'r motives or what U wanted from GOD to begin with. I can only pray the U will not be one of those who hears Jesus say, DEPART, I NEVER KNEW YOU. GODs WORD IS COMPLETE AS IS. Nothing else is needed
Just because certain books were not included in the Bible does not mean that they are not holy.
You are deceived if you think that the Bible is all that God has Revealed to us humans. Protestants have always idolized the Bible and treated it even higher than God Himself.
That's the huge error of the Protestants and non-Eastern Orthodox Christians...they make the Bible into what it was never meant to be... A KORAN.
THE BIBLE IS NOT A KORAN.... It did not just fall from the sky for us to read.
@mishakol129 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:Romans 16:26
But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: THESE & THE NEXT COPY OF SCRIPTURE MAKE IT CLEAR THE SCRIPTURE THEY HAD WHEN THESE WERE WRITTEN WAS ALL BELIEVERS NEEDED TO KNOW SALVATION
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction Acts 17:11-12
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
@MPPFLIPP But who gave us the Bible? It didn't just fall out of the sky. The New Testament canon came from the Eastern Church Fathers. It you don't follow the Holy Eastern Orthodox Church, then you do not have salvation because they were the one's who put together the whole 27 books of the New Testament. If you deny the Eastern Orthodox Church then you deny the authority of the New Testament.
@mishakol129 The Bible was spread thru-out the world at that time by pastors who took copies of the Epistles they had N their home Churchs. As these Godly men went from town 2 town, they would meet other evangelist who had copies of other Epistles from other Apostles who had written letters. As time passed, eventually many of the Churches had full copies of all the Epistles of all the Apostiles mixed in with some of the letters that were not accepted by those who knew the Scriptures very well.
@mishakol129 This spread of the Letters & Epistles ended up in most of the Large Churches by the time Constantine arrived. Because of the Apostate heresies of that day they had a number of BIG meetings 2 figure out which letters were not N agreement with the known accepted books/letters of the Disciples & Apostles. I like the Waldenses churches in northern Italy/France, who were not catholic or Eastern Orthodox being hidden from both as they got their Epistles direct from Paul, Mark & Luke.
@mishakol129 The Waldenses had the True Gospel until the Catholics killed over 82,000 of them by 1200AD 4 not converting. They had the Truths long before the Reformation. The Eastern Orthodox has it's problems also as they view Scripture equal 2 Traditions which Jesus said that the Traditions of Men make VOID the WORD OF GOD. So, I stay away from Traditions & go only by the WORD OF GOD since I can trust it has not changed with time. There is more proof of the accuracy of the Bible than U imagine
@MPPFLIPP The Orthodox Traditions are not the "traditions of men". St Paul himself told the Thessalonians to "stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. 2Th 2:15
The EO Church does NOT have the traditions of men, they were inspired by God. All of the authors of the books of the Bible were men, they were not God, so why do you have to put down the Church Fathers who were holy men like the prophets? The Bible itself was written by men not God
@mishakol129 SORRY but I disagree the men who wrote the Bible did not write what they made up in their own minds but scripture says 2 Peter 1:20-21 20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.\ And U have no manner of proving how U'r traditions actually came about. Since Jesus told us that Scripture is more reliable thanTraditin
@MPPFLIPP "So not all “tradition” is good, but when Orthodox Christians speak of “Holy Tradition” they mean the handing on of the good news of the kingdom to those who are willing to receive it. Evangelism is thus tradition, because it is passing on the good news. The Holy Tradition is what is believed always, everywhere and by all. It is the apostles’ teaching that was “continued” in the Christian community from the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:42)."
@MPPFLIPP Sola Scriptura is a heresy. It is a false teaching that "Only the Bible has Authority". It is a heresy begun ever since the Protestant Reformation which was in 1517. That was when Martin Luther broke away from Traditional Christianity. Ever since then, people have been trying to interpret the Bible in anyway that they wanted to, and that is why we now have over 25,000 denominations in America... What happened is that Christian leaders have made themselves infallible in interpretation.
This is the tragedy of Christendom. Protestant Christianity has created widespread confusion in the Christian world today. And the non-denominationalists are only adding to the confusion because they have also made themselves into infallible interpreters of scriptures, not understanding the spirit of the words but only the letter.
They have made the Bible into a Holy Koran, thinking that it was made to be followed like the Koran, but it is not. This is Western Christianity and it is a heresy.
Western Christianity started in 1054 AD, when the Roman Catholic Church was created. During that time and afterwards, Christians had been looking more into scholastic thinking. What happened was that the Western Christians (Roman Catholics), started to think about God in a more scholastic way, thinking that God could be understood rationally. But the East (Eastern Orthodox), said that God is a mystery and that he is only known through the heart, not the mind.
@mishakol129 There is where U disagree with GOD as He had Jeremiah write Jeremiah 17:9
“ The heart is deceitful above all things,And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I follow the beliefs of the Waldenses who received their scriptures directly from PAUL, MARK, LUKE. So, I am waiting for U to explain what U'r beliefs need to go to heaven & be forgiven. What must I do to make it into heaven. Please explain that one thing. Pretend I have only a few minutes to live, what Must I do 2 be saved?
@MPPFLIPP We say that believing Jesus Christ gives Salvation BUT, having Grace in one's body is what constitutes Salvation in this earthly life. St Paul makes it very clear that WE ALL SHALL BE RAISED, and that some will be raised to corruption while other to incorruption. So Salvation really has to do with the Resurrection of our bodies. A person becomes "Saved" when he has within his body the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, thus making his body incorruptible.
Western Christianity is exactly what caused Sola Scriptura. Sola Scriptura came through the idea that God and the eternal energies of God could be rationally known. But the Eastern Orthodox Church, maintained that God can only be known in the heart, in a mysterious way, not by rationalization.
The whole problem with Sola Scriptura is that is relies way too much on rationalization of the Holy Scriptures.
You think you can figure everything out in your head because you have The Book.
@MPPFLIPP So tell me NOW what it takes according to U'r traditions & beliefs what a person must do in order to get into heaven & live near GOD. I want all of the facts U believe we must to do be forgiven & B accepted into Heaven. I wait.
@MPPFLIPP In the Eastern Orthodox Church we have the ability to receive this Divine Nature in ourselves through the Holy Mystery of the Eucharist, where we receive Jesus Christ's Holy Body and Blood. This is a Mystery of Salvation. Jesus Christ is the Bread of Life and He gave us the institution of Holy Communion at the Last Supper. This is the way in which we receive the Grace of God into our bodies. But Holy Eucharist cannot be received unless you are Baptised and Christmated with Holy Spirit
@mishakol129 For U to say that the Holy Bible is deceiving Believers is an Apostate opinion & If U hold that until death, U will never see GOD as a friend or savor, but only HIS WRATH will be upon U an all who follow such vain, apostate beliefs & teachings. U presume to know more than those who were alive with these writings were rejected for apostate teachings in them. The reason is not because the Church Fathers were making their own religion, they were protecting the FAITH of JESUS in US
@mishakol129 THIS IS YOU THAT HE IS DESCRIBING = 2 Peter 3:16 which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
It sounds more like you are the one who is being deceived & you wish 2 take other with you N2 perdition because you try to destroy the weak faith of others away from the Bible that Is HOLY. I do not worship the Bible, only JESUS, but HE told us 2 follow the Scriptures to build our Faith. Faith comes from the Bible
This is another of my favorite books brother Robert! I am making myself a copy...I know with your blessing! Thank you very much for your diligence to provide these sacred scriptures for us all!
@InHISWord2 1 Corinthians 15:2-4. 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, know that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;< Epistle of Barnabas is a Gnostic writing & IS NEITHER GOSPEL OR HOLY BUT CONTAINS APOSTATE TEACHINGS THAT ARE NOT HOLY OR SCRIPTURE 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
@InHISWord2 There is no proof that the Epistle of Barnabas was written by Barnabas, but it is dated after the years of 200+ AD. It is a Gnostic forgery & is not worthy of being held as HOLY. Before U accept any lost or hidden books U need to listen to the Holy Bible 4 - 6 times over a period of 2 years to learn it & know it backwards & forwards so that when U read other materials U will know if they agree with Scripture or not. Listening is the best way to memorize it. 2hrs a day 4 1yr
@MPPFLIPP I have read this book: The General Epistle of Barnabas several times. I believe it is true Holy Scripture. Plus, I have read the Entire Holy Bible so many times that I have lost count. This book that you are coming against, almost made it into our Holy Bibles. You really should do a little more research before you waste your time bashing this book. It seems you have this book confused with another of a similar title...ie: The Gospel of Barnabas. God Bless you.
nHISWord It is true that the supposed "Gospel of Barnabas" mentions Allah and Muhammad. The problem with this fact is that the nearly universal conclusion of scholars who have looked at this document is that it was written about 1500 years after Jesus lived and nearly 1000 years after Muhammad lived. There is zero chance that this supposed gospel was written by Barnabas or anyone else who lived in the first century AD. The signs of a late date are numerous and devastatingly convincing.
@InHISWord2 First of all, there is literally no evidence of the existence of this "gospel" before the late sixteenth century. The oldest known manuscript was found in 1713. The manuscript is in Italian, not Greek or even Latin. It has evidence of having been translated from Turkish into Italian or at least influenced by Turks. No serious scholar has yet dated the original earlier than the 14th century.
Funny how the Dead Sea Scroll Community venerated these books as Scripture, in their own day separated themselves from the Scribes and Pharisees, etc. The NT writers quoted from MANY books outside the 24. People act like the canon of the 24 was the only game in town, but that is in no way the case. Sad that people base their whole belief system on something that the NT writers did not themselves believe.
@Apocryphile1970, The epistle of Paul wasn't found among the DSS Community library. There was no New Testament canon during the time of the so called character Paul. That is a later invention.
LOL! I just posted a REPLY as aCOMMENT by accident. The original questions was:
Minotaurus2 (2 weeks ago) I believe that the Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha should be included in every Holy Bible as canonical. Like the Ethiopian Orthodox bible or the Dead Sea scrolls.
@Apocryphile1970, The Ethiopians have a unique canon. They should translate a copy in English. So U.S. citizens will no longer have to buy the non canonical works individually.
However I do consider 1 Enoch, Jasher and Jubilees from the Ge`ez authentic. The Slavonic copies which are being passed around are frauds. The Ethiopians are the only ones who saved these works in its original context. In the Slavonic at least with 1 Enoch it added words which contradicts the Ge`ez Enoch.
@beholdtheageofold To which I answered: "Funny how the Dead Sea Scroll Community venerated these books as Scripture, in their own day separated themselves from the Scribes and Pharisees, etc. The NT writers quoted from MANY books outside the 24. Wow!!!! I've been compelled by the Holy Spirit to investigate the Catholic Church and it's practices regarding their abominations. It's not by chance that I came across your video! Incense and sacrifices - the Lord hates this stuff. Three days ago, I attended a funeral for my uncle and it took place at a Catholic church. Three priests were present and they had this container with a rope attached that poured out smoke from incense. I asked God to forgive me for being around such deceit. Good vid
All I can tell you is that the translator was Maxwell Staniforth and the book I read it from was Early Christian Writings, Published by Penguin Classics.
Hi Thanks for the video, I just bought the lost books of the Bible and before Barnabus begins it says: Barnabus was a companion and fellow preacher with Paul. This epistol lays a greater claim to canonical authority than most others. it has been sighted by Clemins Alexandrinus, origon, eusebius, jerome, and many ancient fatehrs. Cotelerius afferms that origon and Jerome esteemed it genuin and canonical; but Cotelerius himself did not believe it to be either one or the other: on the contrary
he suposes it was written for the benifits of the Ebionites (the christienized jews) who were tanacies of rights and cerimonies. Bishop fel feared to own with the same respect as several of the books of the present canon. Dct. Bernard cevilien, prof. at Oxford, not only believed it to be genuin, but it was read throughout in t he churches of Alexandria as the Cononical scriptures were. Dodwell supposed it to have been published before the epistle of Jude and the writtings of both the Johns.
Vossius, Dupuis, Dct.Cane, Dct.Mill, Doc.S Clark, Whiston, and Arch Bishop Wake, also esteemed it genuin: Minartus, Arxch Bishop Lawed, Spanheim, and others, deemed it apocryphal.

Haven't you ever seen the relics?

MPPFLIPP 5 months ago

MPPFLIPP 5 months ago
@InHISWord2 First of all, there is literally no evidence of the existence of this "gospel" before the late sixteenth century. The oldest known manuscript was found in 1713. The manuscript is in Italian, not Greek or even Latin. It has evidence of having been translated from Turkish into Italian or at least influenced by Turks. No serious scholar has yet dated the original earlier than the 14th century.

@LifeIsAnicca This was the first extra Biblical book I ever read. It literally changed the way I looked at the Scriptures. VERY interesting book!

Apocryphile1970 1 year ago
@Apocryphile1970, The epistle of Paul wasn't found among the DSS Community library. There was no New Testament canon during the time of the so called character Paul. That is a later invention.

LOL! I just posted a REPLY as aCOMMENT by accident. The original questions was:
Minotaurus2 (2 weeks ago) I believe that the Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha should be included in every Holy Bible as canonical. Like the Ethiopian Orthodox bible or the Dead Sea scrolls.
Apocryphile1970 1 year ago
@Apocryphile1970, The Ethiopians have a unique canon. They should translate a copy in English. So U.S. citizens will no longer have to buy the non canonical works individually.
However I do consider 1 Enoch, Jasher and Jubilees from the Ge`ez authentic. The Slavonic copies which are being passed around are frauds. The Ethiopians are the only ones who saved these works in its original context. In the Slavonic at least with 1 Enoch it added words which contradicts the Ge`ez Enoch.

@beholdtheageofold By "these books," I only meant "Apocryphal Books" and not the NT Apocrypha by any means. ;)

Good vid

@john832thetruth Roman Catholic Church is the false Catholic Church.
They are not the true or original Catholic Church.
Go and do some research on the "EASTERN ORTHODOX CATHOLIC CHURCH" and you will find the original Church.
The Eastern Orthodox Church is the 2nd largest Church in the world. 2nd only to the Roman Catholic.
What you must realize in that Protestantism and Non-denominationalism is a super-mega heresy.
The former are deluded, and the latter make themselves in a new-Pope.

All I can tell you is that the translator was Maxwell Staniforth and the book I read it from was Early Christian Writings, Published by Penguin Classics.

Anybody know the reasons why this epistle was not included in the New Testament?
NatSci 3 years ago
I think its authorship was in question and its usage was regional.

Cotelerius afferms that origon and Jerome esteemed it genuin and canonical; but Cotelerius himself did not believe it to be either one or the other: on the contrary
bobhawkins1966 2 years ago
he suposes it was written for the benifits of the Ebionites (the christienized jews) who were tanacies of rights and cerimonies. Bishop fel feared to own with the same respect as several of the books of the present canon. Dct. Bernard cevilien, prof. at Oxford, not only believed it to be genuin, but it was read throughout in t he churches of Alexandria as the Cononical scriptures were. Dodwell supposed it to have been published before the epistle of Jude and the writtings of both the Johns.
bobhawkins1966 2 years ago
Vossius, Dupuis, Dct.Cane, Dct.Mill, Doc.S Clark, Whiston, and Arch Bishop Wake, also esteemed it genuin: Minartus, Arxch Bishop Lawed, Spanheim, and others, deemed it apocryphal.
