With Captain Treece, it was never hard to get a hardy salute from her. Even with a pilot on board while doing the welland canal runs, she would often sound her horns. Most vocal boat around when sailing, thats for sure!
Hey now lets save some steam for the propeller! I am sad during my time working the boats I never sailed a steamer. The best whistles on any ship I worked on was probably the Roger Blough. The Burns Harbor had some loud Kahlenbergs but not very melodic.

The Ryerson has been sitting at Fraser Shipyards for a long time. Just down the road here in Superior Wisconsin USA.

I really like the Blough's whistles too. Although not steam, they have a great, powerful sound.
