  • Impressive style...

  • i have the same bass.. bought on muscistore.de ? :p

  • I don't see why people dislike this video soo much. Because of fret buzz? Pussy-ears! This bass line sound like Tool, and im thinking how cool it wold be played in a fretless. Keep rocking!

  • @AdlerMow people got to hate

Thanks man check out some of my other videos if you want to hear less fret buzz. I'd love to get a fretless this would be a great song for a fretless.

  • that was sick man, on another level

  • @dfactor317

Thank you very much. I'm working on setting up a solo bass and drum project right now so keep in touch and I'll fill you in when I've got it going also check out the response video to this one, it's a much better recording of the same kind of idea.

  • @dourcynicbass sorry just realized it's not a response video because youtube wouldn't let me respond to my own video but if you click on the one in my channel called "Drop #C Jamming with a little added fret buzz for my friends" It sounds much cleaner.

  • why did you upload this?

  • @andredidiergijon to annoy you

  • tool ?

  • @knoturale They are the shit

Not a cover if thats what your asking, but definitely influenced

  • I am in love with that shirt!!!

  • IT RATTLES TOO MUCH

  • @lollogaglia yeah for real huh, check out my video response to this one. A neck tune up and a better mic, problem solved. Let me know what you think.

  • omg!! i should report you for hutring that acoustic bass giutar!!

  • @IamKIDBUU1

I'm not hurting her, she likes it rough

  • awesome dude im subbing to this, btw do you play any grunge i liek grunge music i hear progressive rock and postgrunge and classic rock stuff in this. It sounds epic im givign you thumbs up

  • @dragonhed123

Thanks man. You hit the nail on the head, thats the stuff I live off of. Check out Porifera, the songs we have recorded now are more grunge classic rock, but we're about to go record some new stuff thats crazy and progressive.

  • which bass guitar brand is it ???

  • @MSAAFER

    It's an Ibanez

and like I said, it actually sounds much nicer in real life then it does in this video

  • Esta Caliente

  • nice is that a jay turser bass ?

  • nice tshirt :P

  • I think the buzz adds much character. I wouldn't take it away.

  • Groovy, too bad you cant get good strings to cut that nasty buzz!

  • Fuck yeah!! :D

  • that sucks

  • ohhhh

  • ¡¡Vaya mierda!!

Que mal suena ese Violonchelo... Afínalo chaval

  • dude...........i got a boner, and reminds me of breaking benjamin

  • All i can say now is ....freakin awesome t-shirt man!!!!!!!!

  • you shouldnt down tune

  • @MrHarleydog39

I do, this is in drop D

I also do a lot of half step down with and without drop D

I've been meaning to post some new videos, these are so old, and everyone has to comment on the fret buzz I had at the time I recorded them.

  • @dourcynicbass You probably know this, and I'm just a guitarist but a higher gauge string would get rid of the buzz when you drop down.

  • @SeanieBlahBlah

I've had a hard time finding much variety on acoustic bass strings. A lot of the stores I go too only have a set or two to choose from

  • @dourcynicbass Awh man, I can only imagine how difficult if is for you. I went looking for an acoustic bass at the weekend, looks like I'm gonna have to order it, 5 shops had about 6 between them.

  • @SeanieBlahBlah

Yeah us bassist are kinda discriminated against at most music shops.

Oh well I usually play electric, and have no problem finding anything for that.

  • @MrHarleydog39

You don't know me, I do what I want

  • @dourcynicbass

Hi, I don't know you nor do I know Mr Hartleydog, but I am inclined to agree with him. Got to get rid of that buzz - it distracts from the stellar work your doing on the higher strings.

Would work well on electric, but with acoustic, just ..... naaah. Also avoids the problem of being a little out of tune after your number. Downtuning makes the string want to be even flatter....

  • @dourcynicbass lmao that was hilarious, wanna come over tonight?

  • @frankwhite432

    Um do I know you?

  • @dourcynicbass always good to meet new people :)

  • @dourcynicbass

True that, don't think I'm in the right part of the country to make it out tonigh. So what would you want to do if I did come over?

  • The sound isn't like it has to be do not hit with a lot of strenght the strips jajaja i do not rememer how to say cuerdas jajaja i speak english jajaja but a little ok jaja lol jaja

  • lol fret buzz much? sounds like shit.

  • @ChubbyBackTV

It's really more the shitty camera mic, but thanks anyways

  • @ChubbyBackTV your a tool bag

  • @ChubbyBackTV

He's getting the E way too hard. I like how everyone things that just because it's a bass it means they can pound the shit out of the strings.

  • @magicmark1292

You can pussy pluck you strings all you like and I won't give you shit. I play hard sometimes, it's like acoustic distortion.

  • @dourcynicbass

Well go ahead and fuck your guitar up, it's like your like dumb shit that has no respect for musical Instruments. And I can't " Pussy Pluck" in a Hardcore Punk band. I just treat my guitar with respect. I have an electric that can take abuse for things like that. The acoustic bass is honestly meant for folk or jam band type music. It's meant to be a replacement for the up right bass.

  • @magicmark1292

First of all I thought that being "Hardcore Punk" was all about disrespect. My bass was made by a huge capitalist corporation in Japan, if I wanted to be a "Hardcore Punk" I would have smashed it, or never learned how to play it and just banged on it. What is Punk rock but a bunch of posers who think they stand for something.

  • @magicmark1292 What so an electric bass can take more abuse, how so? I've had this bass for years and it's in perfect condition. Why should I use my bass for what it is "meant for" it doesn't sound anything like an upright. I make art, you don't like it fine. I don't like punk, but I love and respect my instrument.

  • @dourcynicbass

An electric bass can take more abuse than an acoustic. I never said that I didn't like your music. I simply made a comment on how every one pounds the shit out of an acoustic bass since they are most likely doing what they know from electric where to get a decent enough sound with out an amp you have to pluck the strings hard. That's not what hardcore punk is about, your telling me that bands like Black Flag and Bad Brains are a bunch of posers that ruin their shit?

  • @magicmark1292

Well yeah if you straight up smash it. Personally I find it to be the complete opposite, well maybe not complete it depends on what your trying to do. An acoustic bass doesn't have the volume of an acoustic guitar and if you want an sort of aggression in your sound you got to hit it. An electric with the volume cranked and distortion on doesn't need much to get it to boom, unless you just really want it to sound ruthless, which I do.

  • @dourcynicbass

No, they weren't about disrespect or anything of that sort, they sing about the truth in what they see and doing what you want when you want. Also I think it's funny how you claim to make "art" and then bash people who view themselves as making art with your comment about punks. You are just as bad as me with the accusations your making and the ignorant views on different people. I will be a bigger man and apologize for my comments about your playing.

  • @dourcynicbass

You too are punk for standing up for your belief to play how you want and what you want. I will also add that you need to be a little bit open minded as I have failed to do so. I'm not claiming to be a hardcore punk rocker I simply stated that playing hardcore punk demands more from your instruments. If you've ever seen or been to a real punk show you know what I mean. When people smash electrics they don't break very easily, mainly they just snap at the neck.

  • @magicmark1292

I am not punk, people have been defending there beliefs long before the term "punk" was ever coined. If your not a hardcore punk rocker why are you playing it, play what you are. That being said I do accept your apology, but don't think that makes you the bigger man, you started this. I'm sorry for generalizing all punks into the same group, but they are the ones who put themselves in a group.

    Peace and Love

Don't let me catch you making any fret buzz

  • will continue in pms.

  • @magicmark1292

    hehe you said pms hehehehe

  • @dourcynicbass

    hahaha! I did!

  • This melody would suck if it wasn't played this hard.

  • @mijonja what are you saying, that it's cool when I play it like this and BassyBrandon is wrong about saying to play it softer. Or that it's a bad melody and it only sounds ok because of how hard I play it.

  • @dourcynicbass I'm saying that this melody is ment to be played hard, just like slap melodies. It's simply better.

  • @mijonja Alright cool thanks, just checking

  • can a acoustic bass, (not plugged in) play along with an acoustic guitar? because i love to play outside in summer just chillin with friends who play guitar also. i would like to jam with them outsides with my acoustic bass, but if i will need an amp, i wont buy it. because then i rather stick to electric bass

  • @doomernik

Yeah totally. Try a few out though and make sure you get a loud enough one. Some of them are really quiet, so you've just got to shop around for the right one. This one is an ibenez and it totally stands up to an acoustic guitar.

  • again, the E string, and I'd advise playing a little softer if not cleaner.

  • is that a greg bennett ab-2?

  • No it's an ibanez

  • NIce groove...I like it...but the E string buzzing kinda mess it up...

  • yeah but its hard to get that not to happen

  • Look up how to adjust a truss rod...

    thats the problem.

  • My acoustic bass is just like that with E string it annoys the hell out of me!

  • Very cool but the buzzing from the E string is almost completely covers up the sound. Someone said nice cover... this may be a silly question but it doesn't sound familiar, what song is that?

  • Yeah it's a combo of a bass that needed some neck work and a crapy mic on my camera really picked up that buzz. I was a little puzzled by that comment, this is an original, I'm not sure what song he thinks it is.

  • It's bass :) nice cover man, love this bass

  • awesome!

  • NOW!!! thats a jam;)

  • E is buzzing awfully, maybe either try to play more softly or try with bigger action.

  • It was in need of a neck job, It sounds much better now, I'll post a new video soon.

  • I have a question. I play bass but only have a 3/4. Short arse! Can u get an acoustic in 3/4 size the same as electric??

I love the sound of the acoustic and wouldn't mind getting one. ???????

  • I'm really not sure, I would think so. We don't have very great music stores around here. I had a hard time finding this one. But I've seen all different kinds online

  • It´s a J&D?

  • I love the overall sound of acoustic bass guitars but the only problem I have with them is that since there is no pickups you have nothing to rest your thumb on. Unless you put on one of those thumb rests but lets be honest they look stupid.

    5/5 Awesome playing.

  • Hey thanks

Yeah that is a problem with them, I usualy just rest my arm on the top, which works on acoustic because of how big they are. But the problem with this is that if you play for a while the edge starts to dig into your arm and gets kinda uncofortable, or makes your hand fall asleep. It's a hard life being a bassist.

  • this is very nice, i am very interested in acoustic basses just because you could play them unpluged so its also posible to play them around a bonfire :)

  • Yeah acoustic bass are great , I really like this one, it's an ibenez and it was a lot nicer and the sound projected a lot better then some of the much more expensive ones I've played

  • I love acoustic basses. I play electric bass guitar and i picked up a dean elec/acoustic bass yesterday, but cant play it till my bday since its a bday gift haha. Good video tho man

  • well i have a fender squire jazz bass, but haven't gotten into it much yet because i've been playing a lot of double

  • the bass guitar must be really easy to play after playing double once u get the hang of holding it differently.

As far as getting into it, i would try some songs with bass guitar parts that u like and play along, and try out some different genres.

For coming from a double bass, a fretless bass guitar would be a lot of fun, so maybe you could try that, too.

  • 5/5 because you're wearing a pink floyd T-shirt :D.

  • nice sound , nothing like new strings

  • hey i'm a double bass player but really want to learn to play acoustic or electric bass, what do you suggest, this iis gnarly though p.s.

  • Thanks

You mean like what brands do I suggest? This bass is an ibenez, I really like it. It wasn't to expensive and I think it plays better then some of the ones I've seen for much more. With electric, I really like warwicks, music man, fenders. You just have to go play some and see what you like, I suggest buying a used one, they just don't seem to make em like they used to.

  • I never knew an acoustic bass could sound so metal !

    great playing !

  • I know, who would have thought, thanks man

  • this reminds me a perfect circle =D

  • Thanks, perfect circle kicks ass

  • Thank you and your welcome

  • great playing

  • omg you are playing so good....... thank you abaut your video!!!!!!!
