The 1705 was hauled by a 201 from Heuston to Limerick & a pair was assembled in LImerick to haul the train out of the station (dead end) & on to Ennis.
The train made a lovely video departing Ennis, probably carried more gricers than any service trainat the time! All railcars now, verrrry boring.
is it justs fridays that it runs straight through without changing at limerick. i never knew that they had planned to replace the inter city service with railcar services.when is that coming about?
Yea, just that one service, 1705 ex Heuston. Train arrives inLimerick and a pair of bo-bos backs on and taked it to Ennis. The railcars to replace this service are 22000 class intercity railcars (rather dull but thats whats happening!).
i suppose it makes sense economically buts those railcars are a shambles. it doesnt make sense to change trains enough people get the train frm ennis to limerick/cork/dublin anyway often leaving some people standing up and are often dirty on the inside long live the push pull service hey!
Totally agree with you. To the best of my knowledge the new ones are a good deal better & will run through to Ennis still on Fridays. I prefer the loco haulage myself I have to admit!!
the 22000 class railcar isnt great either though they are fairly rocky.best of a bad situation though. apparently they will be used on the western rail corridor once it opens in april of nxt yr instead of the locos unfortunately.
a lad i know in iarnrod eireann has told me that by christmas all the mk4 stock wil be withdrawn and replaced by the 27000 railcar. on all the routes too including the western rail corridor once it reopens
when was this video taken do you know coz im from ennis and havent seen a push pull service frm heuston to ennis in few yrs its usually railcar frm limerick to ennis.
it would be a sin if they put commuters on all the lines its bad enough there taking the 071s out soon i think i love them older tarins they have a big history plus they can haul just about any thing just put 2 toghther and away we go lol sweet vid also 5stars from me.

It seems rare to me to see 141s double-heading a rake of mark 3s. But I'm up north so I wouldn't really know, haha.
Great shot you took there.

Every Friday the 1705 Heuston-Limerick runs through to Ennis. This will change from loco & coaches to railcar shortly.
