I've introduced a couple of people to the basic Radian and they get on really well with it as a first plane .. it's so predictable; I've added some lights and now fly it more after dark than I did during the days ! See Deacs55 for a SEASONAL night flight video !
Better than the radian Pro. i have two R-pros but they took many mods to be at their best. Whereas the original Radian (for example wing shape and insertion method)is better all around. R-pro demands you be much more exact with the stick but then they did not make the plane itself stable enough to fly truly precision. I have one aupped to 48 oz and one at 60 oz to fly in all conditions. with many mods they are good. The Radian was a better plane out of the box than the pro. I still fly mine.
How much do you like this plane? I am thinking on buying me one. Should I get it? I would buy the RTF version. Since I have no electric planes or batteries & chargers in my fleet.
@UtRadioGuy I just got the radian last week. I mainly fly the ultra micro airplanes and let me tell you, this plane is absolutely awesome! It just floats and floats and floats. I found a few thermals about and had it climb really easily and this was just a week after we had a bunch of snow here. I highly suggest getting at least 1 or 2 more batteries for it if you get it. It can take a long time to charge just that one battery. If you like to lazily fly around, you cant beat this plane.
@UtRadioGuy - I finally got to fly my Radian today for the first time after sitting for 3 weeks. (Due to the cold weather in Utah) I flew it 2 times, and each flight was 45 minutes long! That's a personal record for longest single flight for me. I'm use to 10-15 minutes of flight before I run out of fuel. My neck and back started hurting looking up in the ski for that long, but it was so much fun. Next time out I'll be taking a chair. What a GREAT relaxing plane to fly. It was a ton of fun.
@UtRadioGuy Grats on the maiden! I love this plane to. So easy and relaxing to fly. My longest flight with it is 38 minutes but that was because I was passing it around letting others try it at the same time. My longest flights ever are around 1hr with the pico tiger moth but that is including lots of touch and goes. Not gliding. I agree a bigger battery isn't really needed. Plenty of flight time out of the 1300mah. So glad I got this one instead of the Pro!
@Estara - I just found a used Radian Pro with 3 flights on it for $125.00. It's a PNP. I hate it when I find deals like this, because I think I need to get it. I also found a micro Sukoi BNF for $80.00. I think that's my next buy is something I can put in the car and fly anywhere.
@UtRadioGuy I have the sukhoi XP BNF and it is an awesome plane. Very agile. The dx5e probably wont be a good choice for it though. You would want something with expo as it can be very twitchy! I can't believe someone would give up their radian that quickly. I looked for months and never found a used one on sale. Thats just how good this plane is!
