This video totally makes the entire series come back to light in my mind. The entirety of emotions I felt from a vividly told story line. The likable evil guys (Greed) to the people that sparkle way too much (Armstrong) this song embodies all of that so perfectly. I thought the anime version was fantastic, but I didn't listen to Kyle's version. Better hands down.
i can play parts of Greensleeves by ear. my grandmother thought it was amazing that i didn't need music to play it. all i needed was the tune, and my voice to know what to play. i can also play little tunes from Legend of Zelda. I plan to get my own ocarina one day. a 12 hole blue ocarina with a metal band around the mouth piece, with a triforce on it.
I listen to this almost every day. Fullmetal Alchemist is my favourite anime and has inspired so much in my life. And you bring its most beautiful piece of music to life in a way I never thought possible. Thank you, Kyle.
Everyone of those 5 dislikes are of people who doesn't know the REALLY good music... You are amazing! This song is one of my bests... more with the piano :D
Ah! Wow! If you could do an improvisation on Lapis Philosophorum from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, I would love your skills even more than I do now...if that's even possible.
Kyyyyleeee PLEASE please please get someone to transcribe this piece pretty please I want to play it so bad but I can't improvise like that, it's a real masterpiece.
I am not sure if this should cause me to give up on piano or try harder. Damn, this made me cry because it is so good. And I am a guy, and I am not afraid to admit my tears. It is my favorite song from any anime and to see it done by you just made my entire month.
Who cares if it is braja or whatever ... this guy is pure genius, discovered u when i was looking for arival to earth (piano version) U dude has angel's finger. Your music brings peace to me. Thx u
Dont listen to that guy. He clearly doesn't know anything about the show. You could of called this song Cock Slap and I wouldn't of complained one bit.
@RattingUP :D:D Bratja is also in Bulgarian! And I find it interesting because I wouldn't have viewed the video if if the word wasn't written. :D Peace man!
My piano's out of tune so I don't play it often >:(
I would get a keyboard, but I hate how light the keys are. I wonder if there are any with wodden keys, or if you can mod it so that the keys are heavier.
@GmasterRED Many digital pianos and keyboards have weighted keys. My Yamaha DGX-630 actually has heavier keys than my upright acoustic piano. They're not as heavy as some grand pianos I've played, but the best thing is to try some out at a retailer and see for yourself.
@GmasterRED well, I have a P-95 and a P-155 and a Yamaha baby grand. It may be just me, but to me, These P series keyboards have just a little difference in weight. the GH is wonderous and When I play on concert grands, it feels almost (just a slight weight change) the same. Overall, get the Kyle edition keyboard. =D the cheapest in the P series is the P-95, around 800 dollars. I recommend buying this one if you're low on money. It sounds great and feels great.
Bratja! GO Kyle! I love your playing Mr. Landry. I try to imitate you, and I fail. I begin to cover the basics again, Learn more techniques, or just to up my level, only to realise you're THIS amazing XD.
This may seem like a stupid question but, when you improvise off a piece like this, what is going through your mind as you play? I ask this because when i improvise (i'm not that good, no piano lessons - just learnt by ear lol) I kinda just pick a pattern or structure and keep to it. What about you?
@KHmaxX Actually, there's quite a few aspects to this, and they are quite similar to composition. 1) Harmony 2) Melody 3) Rhythm 4) Form 5) Articulation 6) Register 7) Voicing 8) Impact points 9) Rubato certain sections 10) Character Hope this helps open your mind a bit. Now it's all up to you to discover.
You know, i am from Mexico and this is one of the reasons that makes me really appreciate my acces to the "Internet" , because i get to meet talented people like yourself.
The first 6 seconds of this piece are really awesome (n_n), i consider your music an inspiration. Keep up this amazing work and "May God Bless You"
simply amazing... i mean, i've heard nearly all of ur songs, and can see that you use some kinda scale playing with your left hand. can you tell me how u usually play the different cords? I've been playing piano myself for nearly 11 years, but I still usually play all the cords with a 4 finger slide. kinda have some problems fitting them into different kinds of songs. any advices on what to practice on?
I don't know much about piano... but i remember a lot of the songs in the past you played have have had this one major 'climax' towards the middle or the end.
I mean, at the start it was like simple and modest, then towards the middle/end your fingers would go crazy and start playing hardcore and then the hairs on my back would spike up n shit. e.g. Canon no7.
But yeah, now it seems the climax is a bit here or there....man i know this sounds really stupid because i can't explain it well LOL
I've noticed that you want to go into video game music composition. Have you considered perhaps going into composition for movies at all? I mean, there's no reason why we can't do some of both (Hans Zimmer has done some video game scores) but most composers specialize in one of the other. Also, have you considered being a studio recording artist as well? You're definitely good enough to do all of these if you want to.
Wow, such perfect timing... I'm currently completely obsessed with FMA, and this is my favourite piece of all time. And here I visit your profile - and here it is. "Brothers", played by kylelandry... Thanks for your beautiful playing, I really enjoyed it!
Kyle Landry... I would like to inform you that after listening to this I realized I was dealt three scoops of YOU SUCK from your tub of GREATNESS... so thank you Kyle Landry... for once again sticking your greatness where it hurts the most... in our MOUTHS lol
The amount of songs you learned and how perfect you play them is kinda insane to me. You played 213 pieces so perfectly and you don't stop to amaze me. I say this cuz, it took like 4 month for me to learn moonlight sonata...I'm not even finished yet gosh how can you learn so much kickass pieces in such a short time?! I guess that's what they call talent ^^
@poirepoire22 Well 1/3 of those pieces are improvisations and compositions, and the rest are nearly all improvised arrangements, so it's not that impressive, I think.
How does that make it less impressive? Improvising requires a lot more knowledge of music and music theory than just sight reading some scores...the talent you have is literally unbelievable.
Best pianist on YouTube, no doubt. Better than David Sides and the rest, any day.
@kylelandry I have my doubts about that. Improvisation has many certain levels, and your uncanny ability to simply take any piece and, well, revolutionize it (for lack of a better word for "MAKING IT FUCKING AWESOME") is beyond me.
I'll keep struggling with Sadness and Sorrow, thanks you very much (:
@kylelandry By checking all the replies you got about your reply on my comment, I think I'm not alone to think that you have a lot of talent, so take it as a compliment and have a nice day!
@gyronium It's not that I'm modest, I just work hard for my youtube projects, and some pieces just don't work out as well as others. Compare this arrangement to one of my more popular arrangements from 2008. do you think this video will have as many views as that come two or three years from now? I don't. And that is how I know this isn't to my standard. lol *end* rant
@poirepoire22 No. It's called perseverance. If you really want to play as good as he is, you need to spend a lot of time practicing piano. My friends spends 5-8 hours a day practicing the piano and she's really good.
@bobosierap I know quite well what is perseverance and that playing an instrument require a lot of it. I started playing guitar 4 years ago and I played that 5-8 hours a day and now I can play really awesome stuff but anyway, I think you didn't understand that my comment to Kyle was just a compliment saying that his work on piano is awesome and I got thumbs up for it, I didn't need any explanation about how to be good on piano.
I'm certain you get comments like these all the time, but I absolutely love your improvisations. They give life to the song and puts it in a new light. Agree a bit with RCycleRide4Eva, a bit too much sometimes. But it was still "Bratja" to me, so ;)
Oh my gosh. I love Fma. ... So much. And this is one of my favourite songs! I simply adore it. Thank you for not destroying it! ^^ Amazing cover, as always! :] <3
A lot of people seem to want it more gentle. Less is more etc. But the original is already that way. The whole point here, and to all your amazing vids, is that you've brought something original to the table. I mean you didn't write the song, but you put a whole new spin on it and not only is it an incredibly advanced piece that you play, it's also a nice twist on the original.
Point is, I love it. I always enjoy your arrangements. Each to their own though of course.
I loved the original, but I actually think I like your version even better. There's just so much to it, and I think this actually captures the range of emotions throughout the series better than the simpler one does. Maybe that's just me *shrugs*. Either way, I say brilliant job, and thank you very much for posting! :)
Definitely impressive, and I don't know the original so it was good to me. Are you standing at the end for any particular reason? It looked like you were about to walk away for a second...
I don't know what to say.. brilliance :(

Brothers is the official name of the soundtrack/song. It's often called Bratja, because the text is russian.
Tsuisou is the official name of the orchestral version.
Since he played it on the piano you can't tell if it's Brothers (without vocals) or Tsuisou.

Compare this arrangement to one of my more popular arrangements from 2008. do you think this video will have as many views as that come two or three years from now? I don't. And that is how I know this isn't to my standard. lol *end* rant

@kylelandry
It could be that the others were just more popular songs.

@kylelandry it is when the improvisations are pretty damn awesome.

Love the chord at 0:06, don't know why.

Perfomance is awesome, without any doubt.
Still, this song shouldn't be called Bratja... It's way to different from the original imho.
kahlandcs 1 year ago
@kahlandcs Aside from the intro, how can you say this isn't bratja?
kylelandry 1 year ago
@kylelandry Intonation, rythm, feelings are too different for me to be called Bratja.
But it's just my point of view, of course :)

I'm certain you get comments like these all the time, but I absolutely love your improvisations. They give life to the song and puts it in a new light. Agree a bit with RCycleRide4Eva, a bit too much sometimes. But it was still "Bratja" to me, so ;)

Kyle Landry, you have no idea how good I wish to be like you.

Intro is fab but the rest kind of destroyed the original feel of the song, sorry.
Beautiful interpretation but yeah...at least you noticed it yourself :)
