According to the brief notes in the upper right corner of the page, this video was made at a place called 'Mission Coffees.' My guess is that it's an informal restaurant or coffee shop. So what we are hearing in the background is probably noise from the kitchen---dishwashers, cooks, waitresses, customers, etc.etc.

There are two or three other videos of the same boy at the same place, I'm almost sure it's a coffee shop/restaurant.

This is really great! I love how it has an added jazzy feel to it. Beautiful take! It really adds a lot of feeling to the song, especially the Green Day part of it. I have never heard the song played like this. 3:01-3:08 is just amazing! I also really enjoyed 3:34-4:11. Truly moving.
