  • Tem uma folha de canabis ali na almofada gente *-* sóóóó

  • Timeless. My favorite version of this song.

  • @letybaumc Oh, yeah. Super vocals and the wah-wah guitar is just wicked. Dig it.

  • I remember when this version came out I absolutely loved it. I couldn't remember the name of the band though. I just read on wikipedia that when they were just getting started Led Zepplin opened for Frigid Pink at Detroit's Grande Ballroom.

  • and the first known recorded version was said to be in 1927 -= still a good version

  • Totally Cool! Thanks for the live show version!

  • green lantren sympole at start

  • @drew9931 what do you mean?

  • They also made 2 gold records but let the partying get to them. Who know what would have become if they had competed serious and cut throat, then again who wouldnt want to be in their shoes!

  • I work with the original road manager for this band. Great band for just being locals in the metro Detroit area, This is the original band to write and release this song. The animals somehow shmoozed their way on the copyright and they get credit for it as well. Frijid Pink didnt know any better because they were just a couple of hardcore party animals with no education. what a shame, they could have been rock n roll royalty. And there you have it the lavishness of the rock m' roll industry.

  • @lumbros2243 You know this song has been around for a very long time right? Everything you just said is bull shit. The first recorded was in the 20's. Frijid Pink covered it like everyone else, look things up you ignorant troll.

  • @michael12626 Yes michael12626 Your correct. I asked the road manager and he said that the song goes even as far back as the 1890s. They where probably one of the first bands to start covering and adding on to it, but Alan Price was the guy who slipped in and received writers rights to the song, Be easy* n ty on the observation, most dont pay attention,

  • @lumbros2243 Please stop perpetuating misinformation as you're clueless of what you're talking about. First, you claim that they wrote this song when that's absolutely false as the writer of the song is unknown and it was around long before the band members were even born. Then, you claim they released it before The Animals when Frijid Pink's version was released in 1969 and The Animals released their version in 1964 before FP was even a band. Either you're lying or their supposed manager is.

  • i still like the animals version better but this is damn good!!

  • this is fucking sweet!

  • Great !

  • Comment removed

  • Have always felt this was the best version of this song. Awesome rifts.

  • bad video quality and awesome audio quality? da fuck?

  • aaaaaaaaahhh!

  • That Tone...........That amazing Tone!

  • de beste vertolking van dit legendarische nummer

  • Fuzz guitar always seemed to resonate with a Detroit area crowd. The band turned their attention inward, and impressively churned out a fuzzed version of “House of The Rising Sun,” but with a dark, disturbingly apocalyptic sensibility. The guitars dripped with flesh and blood, with the heavy metal of fuzzy wah-wah pedals on maximum in this disturbingly refreshing, reverberant sound. By the time this acid-rock epic had ended, the kids were up again for more thunderous applause.

  • @retroplanet117

I take it you got beat up by one of the members at one point - or they fucked your girlfriend... gang bang style.

  • these vocals are haunting... <3

  • this rocks, pump it up!

  • bto's better

  • This was the first real heavy fuzztone and wawa pedal song on top 40 radio...it blew me away and sent me to Blue Cheer and MC 5 as an early teen

  • The begining of this track (before the vocals start) was on the movie Remember the Titans. The movie was to have taken place in 1971, the same year this video was recorded.

  • I love both The Animals' and this version in their won ways. Because it's possible, and everybody should.

  • psichedelik times =D

  • Prefer the version by the Animals, but that, of course, is just my personal opinion.

  • Just to clear it up, no one knows the true origins of this song. Its like Scarborough Fair in a way. Someone wrote it in time when copyrights didn't exist and people didn't have to slap their name across everything they do. People just played it to play it because its beautiful and there are hundreds of directions to take it in.

  • @ImadePoopcakes its an old folk song

  • @cybillify my point exactly...

  • @ImadePoopcakes Go to frijidpink site and check out the real story about House of the Rising Sun.

  • @3sterling that's awesome!

  • thx love it

  • This is by far my FAVORITE version of this song . It rocked me when I was 8 and it still freakin ROCKS---------- Just goes to show GOOD WILL ALWAYS BE GOOD ! Keep on Rockin

  • It's obvious the singer here is trying to sing it like Eric Burdon. Just like Robert Plant copied Steve Marriott when he did the vocals for Whole Lotta Love.

  • Had this 45 when I was 8 years old. Cool!

  • i clicked cause i just dislike this version of song. it's not to good:( (just as my english)

  • You can't cover a folk song. Because no one know who wrote it.

  • beautiful version of the house of rising sun i realy like it

  • An awesome version, totally in psychedelic style. The number of covers of this song are immeasurable. Frigid Pink are totally awesome!

  • I wonder what it feels like to smoke a bunch of dope and then lip synch/play your big hit in a local TV studio in front of no one but the camera crew?

  • I have this on a 45 single vinyl...So many memories.

  • parece que este sera el unico en castellano, esta version de F Pink realmente es extraordinaria, y hasta me atreveria a decir mejor que la de The Animals

  • wow i actually have a top comment...

  • @bennyshouse1

Just done my bit to keep it there :D

  • got the 45

  • woool psicodelia yeahhh \m/ .. \m/

  • There's ALWAYS an original, even if it's 400 years ago and has been handed down live all those years!

  • in my opinion frijid pink better than the animals <3

  • @turmana93 That is a mighty bold statement, but as much as I l like the Animals, I may have to agree with you.

  • Yes, The Animals did this song before Frigid Pink (I saw the Animals perform it in concert in 1966). I'm a BIG Animals fan, but I also love this cover of the song!

  • some of you people make me think that youtube should disable comments

    irony at its best

  • some of you people make me think that youtube should disable comments... irony, huh?

  • Anyone else notice the Green Lantern symbol on the wall?!

  • @MauGino Those are just music notes, thats a symbol for a whole note.

  • @MauGino not just the lantern, also the iTunes symbol is on the right :D

  • @fuckthefuckednick holy shit, these guys really were ahead of there time

  • my favorite genre is rock and some metal but i still think the original was better than this

  • @MaxisickProductions there is no orginal ... type in wikipedia the title. The Animals made the cover of the song.

  • @poiu009988 many mainstream commercial acts dont write their own songs but since they are the person that popularized the songs they play they are considered the original so i consider the animals the original

  • @MaxisickProductions The original is simply the first recorded version of a song not the most popular. The Animals recorded this song after plenty of people had already recorded it including legends like Lead Belly, Bob Dylan, and Woody Guthrie. The Beatles "Twist and Shout" is the most popular version but it's NOT the original. Jimi Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower" is the most popular version but it's NOT the original. Clearly you foolishly have no concept of the term 'original' at all.

  • @greatestxgift possibly the stupidest thing ever heard, it was not recorded by lead belly, bob dylan or woody guthrie before the animals, the beatles dont even have a rendition of it.

but your main point is right, the animals claimed they believed it was about a brothel in the 1600's in england and it was adapted to its current state in the early days of new orleans. but the animals made the song popular in 64'

  • @deadverse edit im sorry all, the beatles did cover it -.- but its still a cover of the animals, not vice versa, and is not called "twist and shout" to quote a famous anonymous quote

not sure if trolling, or just stupid.

  • @deadverse Everyone covered it you retard. No one even knows who wrote the song, it's just one of those things that has been around for a long time. The first recorded version of it was in like the '20s.

  • @deadverse You're possibly the stupidest person I've ever encountered on YouTube. Lead Belly recorded a version of this song in 1944. Bob Dylan recorded a version of this song in 1961. Woody Guthrie recorded a version of this song in 1941. The Animals recorded their version of this song in 1964 so it's an undeniable, inarguable fact that they recorded their version after the others I mentioned. Also, I never mentioned anything about the Beatles version so it seems you're too stupid to read.

  • @greatestxgift Dude, just saw this. Thank you SO much for your, well, clarity. I've argueed this topic for years to people and you pegged it. Never forget your music:)

  • @deadverse It certainly was recorded by Lead Belly, Dylan and Woody before The Animals. The Animals got it from Dylan, who got it from Dave Van Ronk, who got it from...and so on back to Ashley & Foster's 1933 recording. Originally it was a woman singing about being forced into a life of prostitution, but The Animals changed it to a john being forced to buy the services of prostitutes. Bad move Mr. Burden et al.

  • @greatestxgift kinda sux that no one knows who did make the original

  • @greatestxgift Not the first,though the best,bar none.

  • This is the best version

  • The song was originally a sixteenth-century English folk song about a Soho brothel, and that English emigrants took the song to America where it was adapted to its later New Orleans setting.

Nina Simone recorded her first version on Nina at the Village Gate in 1962.

  • @poiu009988 there is ALWAYS an original

  • hey, i just made an instrumental cover of this song. you guys should check it out. it would be greatly appreciated

  • Excelente.

  • I wish I could have been part of the 60's. It was a much simpler time. But, of course, since I'm a woman, things would have been a hell of a lot different for me back then. I think I would be too stubborn to do as told all the time, haha.

  • everything is great but the start of the vocals. the start of the vocals rub against me the wrong way but it fixed it fast

  • Il love this song!

  • Man, the first time I heard this I was about 14. Funny enough that's when I started playing guitar. It still sounds good to me.............

  • Hi guys, that version was a huge success 40 years ago...the lead guitarist brought a whole different approach to that song ...the first big hit was in the 60"s with the Animals and from what is known it probably was written by some old bluesman somewhere in the South in the 40"s or 50"s but no one is really sure..enjoy!

  • the House of Risig Sun, the best song ever!!! this song should have 120 years old!

and nobody knows who is the real autor!

  • @j1e9a9n0 you are right it goes back to the 1800s

  • fuzz!!

  • Awesome version of a classic, thanks for the post

  • Tried to do what Hendrix did to 'All Along the Watchtower', but fails in the verses.

  • was that song written by him?

  • @marcusrennie no its a lot older

  • TRES BONNE REPRISE ET TR2S BON GROUPE DES ANNEES 69

  • The song is by the Animals.

  • @LolGamma It's an old american folk song. No ones know who wrote it. The oldest recording date from the 1930s. Bob Dylan recorded a version in 1961 ,3 years before the Animals. The Animals versions is still the most popular one.

  • The singer can't hold a candle to Eric Burdon but they certainly show the Animals how they could've rocked up their trademark dirge if they'd wanted to. I always thought it was The Animals' most boring song and could never understand why it was so popular. The Animals had so many other great songs that really rocked out. This is definitely a far better version if you ask me.

  • the best early song to use ,fuzz & distortion to cover its mistakes, great song tho!!

  • just how many drugs is this singer on???

  • @ri0tgrrl71 lets just say he is hearing some colors and smelling sounds at this point

  • @ri0tgrrl71 four

  • I think its better than the Animals version. This was one of my 1st 45's back in the 70s. I was pleasantly surprised to find it. I can't believe I just said pleasant. Pass the hookah man.

  • GUYS! THE DISLIKE BUTTON ISN'T THE DOWNLOAD BUTTON!!!!!!!!!!

  • 52 Bieber fans???

  • Classic overdriven Les Paul tone...

  • Hi everyone, if you are interested in seeing another good cover of this song check Casimireffect2011 on Youtube. The singer's voice is stunning!

  • The real story about who wrote House of the Rising Sun, check it out at frijid pink dot com. This is the only known person who received a royalty for writing House!!!

  • First single I ever owned, on the brown and white Deram label. I was unaware that it was a cover version and played it till it was transparent. When I heard the Animals' original I thought it was unbelievably weedy and anaemic compared to this heavy metal beauty!

  • I seen Frijid Pink @ The Grande Ballroom in Detroit many years ago and still love this rendition.

  • Holy shit is this a find! My older brother turned me on to this song way back when. Thanks for posting this gem!

  • the singer acts like jack sparrow but its a good song though nevere heard of this band and i listen to music from this time period hmmm i wonder??

  • @jtfrost27 you got it the other way around, jack sparrow acts like Tom Beaudry :p.

  • Growing up in Detroit I saw this band many times.

  • personally I think this version is way better than the original!

  • @farQuhar85 What's the original??????

  • @Verfemdung

    the animals (1964)

  • @farQuhar85

My god, I was being facetious. I am well aware of Burdon's version. It was, however, recorded by Joan Baez in 1960, Dylan (using Dave Van Ronk's arrangement) in 1962, Leadbelly about 1944, and by countless others before that! The point I was actually making was that one can hardly define any version as "the original".

  • This isn't 60s. It's from 1970.

  • lol who? cool version but

  • good stuff

  • Derivative, but fun in a 60's kinda way...

  • whod win in a fight, close encounters of the 3rd kind....or fire in the sky??

  • iv heard..alot. felt even. but this song is a g'dam tingler

  • this is rock!

  • Could Frijid Pink be one of the first metal bands?

    Curious

  • Detroit Rock City gave us this wonderful band.

This is without a doubt the best "rock" version of this song and it electrified the world, it was playing on radio stations in Bulgaria, Israel, Europe all over the world.

  • nice sound

  • Wow, 47 people need to be choked until they turn pink.........

  • this is the shiz.

  • DOES ANY ONE REMEMBER QUAD STEREO? THIS RECORD WAS ONE OF THOE RECORED IN THAT FORMAT AS I RECALL. THIS IS A GREAT VERSION OF THE "ANIMALS" TOP 40 HIT. LETS ALL KEEP "ROCKIN"

    BEETEEKC

  • @beeteekc

Thumbed down for caps lock/shift if you use that.

  • personally i wouldn't like this kind of music but this one i did, don't ask why, thx for the post

  • exelente version de los sesentas pa los q les gusta el buen rock

  • This is without a doubt the best "rock" version of this song (and I love The Animals!!!). I would like to know where are all the Classic Rock DJ'S -- NO ONE PLAYS THIS SONG -- WHY??? These DJ'S must be hiding under a rock, or brain dead, or they need to get a job playing "pop-up video crap."

  • I love this song. This is a great version of this song. I have been trying to find out who originally did this song. If anyone can tell me it would be great.

  • @MegaHeavyD The Animals.

  • @TheKilljoy79 The Animals did a cover too. No one knows who wrote original, but The Animals version is most known, because of that simple fact, that they did it best. :D

  • @Lipek47 did not know that, thanks.

  • @MegaHeavyD The oldest known existing recording is by Appalachian artists Clarence Ashley and Gwen Foster and was made in 1933. However, Dave Van Ronk's and Bob Dylan's versions predates the most popular version by the Animals of 1964.

  • such a lovely guitar tone....damn

    les paul for life

  • @mauromalatesta Sounds like a Big Muff too. Early version.

  • Wow, Suzi Quatro let herself go for this one!! Lip wax love, painfull but needed here 4sure :)

  • I bought their P.A. system way back when.....they beat the hell out of it,still worked though....

  • It's so awesome that the dancers just sit this one out-not much else to do but just let the song pour over you.

  • too bad for that bad image and sound sync!!! other than that cool song....

  • Dude, that is the most killer porno-stache I have ever seen.

  • cool!

  • waaay better than the animals, amazing!

  • Yes, this is the most amazing version of this song, dig it !!!!

  • ...the best version ever...the animals have nothing over these guys...this is great!!

  • Goooooooooooood sound man

  • This is still the definitive version of a classic song . . . nothing frijid about this . . .

  • I havn't heard that version in years...cool!

  • It's been along time..thanks guys!

  • I bought this album solely on the strength of its cover in ~'72. Great decision, huh?

  • why do people think this is floyd? the first time i heard this version is was a limewire download on a friend's mp3 player and it said it was floyd. so for a while i believed it....now i know better.....this should be completely cleared up by now! and to think i call myself a floyd fan :( shaaaame

  • @ImadePoopcakes I think it's possible that many people have only heard this spectacular cover is because it was labeled as Floyd. So it might not be such a bad thing

  • @eirikwegga um when you let someone think you're something else, thats called fraud. and that shits illegal for a good reason. Not like weed.

  • @ImadePoopcakes just because Floyd didn't cover a good song does not mean they aren't still one of the top 5 bands ever. so shut your fucking mouth idiot.

  • @st4nd4us wtf are you calling me an idiot for? i never said anything bad about floyd so why dont you shut YOUR fucking mouth, sir and re-read shit?!!!!!

  • @st4nd4us and good job not letting anyone on yer page, sissy.

  • @ImadePoopcakes ...wait what?

  • @st4nd4us stop confusing frijid Pink with Pink floyd..they're two different ban

  • I didn't lol.

  • @st4nd4us I know that you didn't,st4

  • @ImadePoopcakes anybody with half a brain could tell this is not a damn pink floyd song!

  • @inthisriver362 I know right? It was titled as that for so long on this download I had. I knew it wasn't right but I mean, that's what it said. Sorry if yer like offended by that, but you needn't be so snippy with me.......

  • @inthisriver362 Yeah. I thought it was Jethro Tull!

  • @ImadePoopcakes dont worry i had the same thing with ac dc and nazareth,

because of limewire i tought hair of the dog was from ac dc.

  • @ImadePoopcakes no worries mate...people do mistakes.the thing is to have the guts to admit them ;)

  • @ImadePoopcakes

I downloaded this song from allofmp3 when it was active because they said it was pink floyd and though i doubted it, i kind of believed it. i'm just glad i know who it really is now!

  • @ImadePoopcakes

i do not care even if its titled to say.. busta rhymes, its stil an EPIC song whoever made it.

BTW, world is full of f****'d up peeps, if they see PINK the automatic reflex is that is must be PINK FLOYD.

  • @goglesux not really what happened but, okay.

  • @goglesux Id have to disagree on that. The Everly Brothers did the best cover of this song. I don't think that's how it happened. I'm pretty sure the person genuinely thought it was Pink Floyd.

  • 3.38, there is something, which has used since then over and over again

    delfoioracle 2 viikkoa sitten

  • my fav version , pure man

  • Wow man, I'm the 1957 person that likes this and thats also the year I was born. Grooooooooovy!!

  • I prefer this to the Animals version, however I think Dylan's is my favorite that I've heard so far.
