@aarowsmith1 Bush fought for regulations against sub-prime lending. He warned Congress & the Senate 17 times throughout his presidency. Yet, the House Financial Services Committee chairman ignored Bush's warnings and instead did favors for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and other sub-prime lenders. The Committee chairman was Barney Frank. In 2003, Frank accused Bush of exaggerating the risks of sub-prime lending and in 2005 he denied there were any problems. As a result, the financial crisis hit.

It wasn't until the Democrats took control of Congress & Senate (who control the spending & budget) that everything started to go downhill. During his first term, Bush inherited a 5.6 unemployment rate and took it down to 4.4%. Obama inherited a 7.6 unemployment rate and took it to over 10%. When Bush left office, the poverty rate was 13.2%. Under Obama, poverty is up to 15.1%.

As president, Reagan created 20 million new jobs, family income rose 12%, inflation decreased to 4.3%. Under Carter, it climbed up to 13.5%. Under Carter the poverty rate got to 15.2%. Under Reagan it fell to 12.8%.
