He needed 37% to call and he had 41%. it was a pretty straight forward call, and Duke and Hellmuth are spastics.

You are missing one point here: he didn't know his chance, Duke could have tons of hands that had him beat, and don't forget she was putting all her chips in. in that case, 41% would seem not big different from 10%. The reason he called, i think, is the thought that that one hand might be able to kill her was just too attempting, besides he was probably doing an adverting there that no one can bluff him easily, he would call even with an 89.

I think Alex Kravchenkos call against Annie Duke with 89s was ok. If Anie Dukes allin range there

was 77+, AJ+, KQ.. Alex has about 34% equity.

So the math goes almost even money, but if he folds he loses 20k every time, so its like about +15k in the long run.. These top live pros do not really now math of poker very well, if they saying that this was a horrible call..
