Hi hanh, could you please tell me the name of this song? And for Andrews workout. What was his warmup and what's the set&reps for each workout he did. Thank you very much. This will be very helpful to me (: - kelvin
Wassup Hanh, whats ur guys workout days, like what do you specifically do on monday and so on through the days? i need some help i might be training wrong
Question on looks. Im starting to work out myself and Im start low to get my body use to the movements without locking up. Besides all this I normally see most people who work on have amazing skin, and I was wondering if that is helped by the food change and the work out. Does this all help naturally the way you look and this is excluding all naturally cleansing rituals.
@MustBeFiend Did you not read what I said? Clearly you hadnt. I made clear that I was asking if it had benefits other then normal every day cleansing which is... yes, showering. Read into it a bit more.
@TylerGagne Skin is usually determined by mostly genetics if you're referring to acne and what not. However, eating lean since you're working out and trying to get fit will improve the overall skin. Plus, having muscles make your skin tight and has an appealing look as opposed to having flabby arms full of fat. Overall, just stay hydrated and eat clean.
whats andrew's cardio workout? does he do intervals? does he just use the stairmaster or does he use the treadmill/elliptical too? why the stairmaster above the treadmill/elliptical?
@phoreak Hey it looks like your first workout you were doing 21's (correct me if I'm wrong), just wondering but about how many sets of 21's did you do? Also wondering about the amount of sets for the preacher curls too. Thanks
Guy looks great and all but arm days are pretty stupid. Push/pull or whatever routine you have, just finish rows with some curlz and that'll be enough.
Damn this dude has cyborg legs. I wonder what his leg workout looks like.
But why so much emphasis on biceps and not triceps? He did 4 exercises of basically the exact same thing for bis: ez-barbell curls, preacher curls, dumbbell curls, then one arm dumbbell preacher curls. Isn't that overtraining?
Afterwards he only did like 3 exercises for tris: skullcrushers, pulldowns, and the one armed variation with cable at the end. No close grip presses or overhead tricep extensions. Why?
Yo Hahn, noticed in the vids Andrew is always doing step machine for cardio. Is there a specific reason for this compared to other cardio activity or does he switch it up? Also does he apply HIIT training when doing cardio, or does he just keep to a moderate intensity throughout the 30mins?
All, I'm doing, pullups, bench and squats in one day then I do it every M-W-F, I'm not sure if I should add one more day or reduce it. I wanna get lean. Any advice?
@Anima87 He's (I'm guessing) 14% at the moment. I'm about 11% year round (measured on a bmi machine so its pretty accurate). I'm guessing he should end up in the 7% range by the time he steps on stage so he'll definitely be a lot leaner than me. We have a lot of time to work with.
@HanhChampion Hi Hahn. What i mean by big is not fat. I'm just relating to myself. I just started doing weights again and i am 6" 3' and 270 lbs and a high bodyfat percentage of around 30. I want to use it as motivation to loose some weight, but it's hard changing some habits thats been with me for so long.
@Anima87 I think you should set some short term goals week by week. It'll help you get to where you want to be. By saying 'started doing weights again' meaning you quit before is usually because you didn't get the results you expected. Anyways just my advice. You can do it.
@HanhChampion Actually, i just have some time of the year when i am too stressed and busy with examinations (Finals you call them in USA?) and just don't have the mindset to get my ass down into the gym. I did the following today which i don't think is too bad:
Squats: 10 x 240 lbs (with three warm up sets of 40, 127 and 216)
Deadlifts: same as above
I just really need to work on my dumbell bench presses.. i fail at 8 x 60 lbs :(
@CheesecakeFarini no such thing as a bmi machine. the most accurate from what I could recollect is the bodpod and the dunk tank which is the hydrostatic in medical terms.
DEXA is now considered the gold standard amongst dieticians and exercise science communities.
Bodpod has too much from for error. Smallest margin of error would be dexascans. I think BMI machine is that bioelectrical impedence device you grab w/ both hands. Or at least that's what was meant.

Very cool video series Hanh, nice to see you back making videos. Its great to be able to see Andrew's progress week by week. Noticed he was doing skull crushers over the forehand versus behind the head. Do you have any recommendations for one over another? I've heard behind your head is less stress on the elbows.
have you ever encountered wrist pain after lifting? recently my right wrist has been hurting whenever i turn it (like turning a doorknob) i've stopped lifting for a week now hoping it'll heal up
@shummyshum use wrist wraps. maybe you were pushing more weight than your wrist is capable of handling at the moment. Working out has all sorts of pain.
Is it better to alternate exercises of biceps and triceps (like 1 exercise for biceps, then triceps, then biceps, etc)? I noticed Andrew did a bunch for biceps, then did triceps - is that the order for his workout or just the editing?
Hanh! I am going to put a lot of effort and dedication into my workouts due to Andrew inspiring me, but I am still very new to some aspect of it. Can you elaborate the difference between free weights and machine? I read a previous comments of yours saying all equipments works and it;s just how you use them. Thanks for upload videos and inspiring us to be healthy.
@Asiaxminor Free weights will always be harder since you use your balance muscles in the process. Generally you see people hit heavier sets on a machine than their free weight counter part.
Personally I say stick to free weights. If you want to go really heavy and have no spotter, a machine will fit your need. Otherwise, free weights builds the muscle faster from my personal experience.
@MinimeDrummerBoi haha, well.. thats what he does every workout but I don't think you want to watch him do cardio for 40 minutes. lol. Its almost like filming paint dry.
@HanhChampion hi, is is good to do a full workout every other day? My goal is to get lean and well defined muscle and also should i start my workout with cardio or end wid cardio?
hanh, when working on legs, do you worry if your butt gets too big? or does the body eventually even out in proportionally. cause ive been doing legs for a couple of months now and my butt is getting pretty big
It's the best environment to lift. There's no hot chicks wearing spandex shorts to distract you by doing stiff legged deadlifts with 5 lbs dumbbells, right in front of you, while you're doing Incline DB press. You know what I mean?
This is what I do and it works great for me (pushpull periodized heavy and light twice a week) but some people benefit better from more volume and less frequency.
If you google him and go to the bodybuilding website, it says he's 5ft 5inches tall. But that was when he first started so i'd imagine he'd be a little taller by now.
who's stronger: Andrew Vu, Han -aka- Goku, Frank -aka- Ice1Cube, or Mike Chang -aka- SixPackShortCuts?

NtrMssion 8 months ago
@NtrMssion cheers, i already do 2 of them, i guess ill just have to do more :D
thatsumoguy 8 months ago
@thatsumoguy Big arms =
-Workout arms once per week
-Concentrate on triceps more than biceps
-Do not overwork your arms, keep the weights high, and the reps low, the workout should be brief and intense.
-To get thicker arms, make sure to incorporate Deadlifts and Squats into your program (seperate days)
^ This is just a suggested format, not a "be-all, end-all" program that you should follow. Experiment and find what is right for you! Goodluck!
NtrMssion 8 months ago
@NtrMssion really? how do squats and deadlifts give you bigger arms? i do squats once a week
iscratchmybutt 8 months ago
@iscratchmybutt
If your squats increase, your benching will increase, which would put size on your triceps - arms.
Compound exercises are a must if you want to gain strength and size.
-Benching
-Deadlifts
-Squats
^ All three are essential.
Also, I'm not sure if pullups count as a compound exercise, but you should also incorporate that into your program as well.
Lastly, it's not about the workouts themselves, food plays an enormous factor in bodybuilding. Just checkout Hanh's blog.
NtrMssion 8 months ago

So. Much. Volume. Hahn have you ever experimented with hitting the same muscle 2x a week? BBers like Layne Norton encourage this.

@MajorMelon
This is what I do and it works great for me (pushpull periodized heavy and light twice a week) but some people benefit better from more volume and less frequency.
riddleman65 8 months ago
@riddleman65 Yeah i'm on a Push/Pull/Lower routine at the moment. Works great for me.

@seasonsxoxo OMG i know right? whatever gym hanh goes to is always relatively empty...How?
klokevinlo 8 months ago
@seasonsxoxo They opened it just for us to film. So it was only 3 of us :)
HanhChampion 8 months ago 17
@seasonsxoxo
it's not usually that empty. It's probably cause of summer.
I used to go to school there and it's for the most part really full most other days and in the afternoon too.
good gym, good equpiment, but too too congested at times. They even have a cool computer station downstairs.

If you google him and go to the bodybuilding website, it says he's 5ft 5inches tall. But that was when he first started so i'd imagine he'd be a little taller by now.
