(to) take the scenic route (verb): To perform a task with an eye toward enjoyment rather than efficiency. "Fun will take the longer way around," sayeth P-Funk. "Clinton takes the scenic route often."
just realized - that train sound he's making is TWO NOTES at the same time, meaning one vocal cord is vibrating at a different tension than the other. that's amazing.
this is real hip-hop people, this man used to rinse the stage in battles rockin airmax 95 and 59fifty hanging off his head, the lyrics are top draw somthing we can all relate to
There's a hell of a movie here but there is no actor around today who could begin to do Lord Buckley justice. (Which never stopped them before, of course.) Lord Buckley was so influential and yet remains so little-known. As for the beat-box connection mentioned in earlier comments, yes, you can say that again.
I too discovered him from a reference in that Tom Waits interview with Don Lane in Australia in '78. That thing is famous over here now, on account of Don just died :(
Still, what a treat. This dude is endlessly interesting.
My dad had this on a record and I remember listening to it with my brothers and sister. I gained a whole new appreciation for it after discovering weed.
