Indy CARS were running speeds up to 236 mph ! during the turbo days of the early 80's at Indy ! Thats way to fast and Death waits at every corner.Watch Gordon Smiley and Paul Dana crashes, neither one had a chance!

Indy did not run the 236 speeds until 1996 or so. Smiley was killed in 1982, Dana in 2006, so that's 24 years in between. Lots of improvements in those 24 years. In '82, they were running qualifying laps around 200 MPH, but either way it was dangerous.
