  • You can tell he isn't really into the song. Its because of the crowd! They need to get up and move! They r just sitting down!!!! I would be jumping off the walls if i got to see Steve Perry in concert!!

  • Journey's greatest hit's two was released today and once again who's singing on lead???????????????

  • Incredible vocals. Is there anyone that can reproduce those notes?

  • Thanks Steve for giving us the most beautiful voice of all time.

  • wow. cool to see steve cut loose like that.. way cool. didnt know about this song

  • Journey even in 81 with the loss of Rollie put out for the Japanese audience.

NEWCOMERS CHECK out the year before the PEAK of MT EVEREST.

Of a lifetime, ..... steve smith out pounding dunbar and a ususally reserved culture

going nuts over the FIRST ALBUM.........

  • OMG! Neal Schone is the best!!!!

  • I would pay a lot of money just to see this live again. :-)

  • Randy Jackson pushed his way into touring with them....lets remember he and Schon developed The Schon Model Guitar. Yes it was a Jackson Guitar with Neals name on it.....Also lets not forget they fired probably the best drummer ever before they finished Raised on Radio....Steve Smith? Why? Ask Perry...

  • Who are the 5 people that dislike this performance? Maybe Lady Gaga fans?

  • I was lucky enough to see them two times live - once in 1983 and once n 1985 (with Randy Jackson sitting in for Ross Valery). Steve Perry's performance was absolutely jaw dropping also very good with the crowd - great show - hands down the best concert I ever attended. Everyone in the band are real musicians who could deliver live and of course they were fronted by that guy with the golden voice. None better!

  • Yeaaah, hit those notes Stevie!

  • I don't think Arnel would ever sing this one live ;)

  • @zyglok Neither would Perry now, unfortunately

  • @zyglok Or in a studio. Let me hear Arnel get those damn screams down ahha.

  • I Love...Love.. Love. this Song. ♥♥♥♥

  • I saw them live...it was magical...the quitar work...the keyboards...the drums..."The Voice"...together they were Journey...anything else is just an imitation! To know the range Perry was capable of you have to have heard him live.

  • @sirpat54 I WISH I could have seen them LIVE but for some reason Steve didn't want to come to UK - SAD SAD FAN. I agree with you that anything else is imitation. Steve Perry was Journey and always will be.

  • @2006juneanne June they played London on the 22nd September 1980 on the Departure tour.

  • @missbitch67 . Oh i didnt know that missbitch, damn i missed them, i would have only been 14 ,and was just getting into rock music then, omg i wish i could go back in time and see them with Steve Perry.

  • @VeryStevePerry I missed them as well,i was 13 & had been 'into' Journey since the year before,i begged my mum to take me.Her response was 'No way am i going to spend money on those long haired Yanks,it will be someone else next year',how wrong she was!!

  • HOLY HELL!!! i just bought the recorded version of this on itunes and listened to it and when i heard those ridiculously high vocals i was like "ok, no way even steve perry hit those notes" i thought it was like some backup instrument or something. so i looked it up on youtube and oh my god, its actually his voice! steve impresses me time and time again!

  • What a beast. lolz ^_^

  • they went down hill since perry left, and no hits in 15 yrs, what does that tell you.journey 78-96

  • Still waitin to see an AP live version of this..........Perry RULES!!!!!

  • Too right ,fitmama. No one even comes close to the vocal talent of Steve Perry, his voice is one in a billion! Together, these guys were one sensational band. Lynda

  • Sounds like something left over (in a good way) from Evolution or Departure.

  • it is from Escape

  • AMAZING = JOURNEY

  • Scat Stevie Scat....oh baby :-)

  • Ah, the days of real vocalists and true harmonies!

  • Ya know, Steve Perry, Jon, Neal, Ross and Steve Smith were just magical. It didn't matter what they did, it was GREAT! I wish I knew how many yellow shirts Steve Perry had lol,

  • Great show by Ophra, Steve Perry is still and always will be the lead vocalist for Journey case closed. Nothing against Arnel.

    Sy-

  • @Sybenett dont apologize that sucker cant even compare, he cant do this song even on his best night, Steve Perry is the man

  • @Metalstryke Maybe if Neal and the boys could pull away from the cruise ships and supermarket openings a bit, maybe we could reconsile and get the band a hit album since Trail by Fire and start playing in 100,000 seat arenas again. Sheeeseeeeeeeeeeesh.

  • @Sybenett I know , Steve cant be replaced

  • love it

  • cool song, rarely played live, by the way, enough with these singers that SOUND JUST LIKE PERRY. NO STEVE PERRY, THE JOURNEYS OVER

  • steve augerie-$ 30.000

    jeff scott soto -$ 10.000

    arnel pineda- $ 70.000

    STEVE PERRY - PRICELESS....

  • I think it's more like...

    Steve Augeri- $50.00

    Jeff Scott Soto $0.25

    Arnel Pineda- $50.00

    Steve Perry - Priceless

    Yes. That's better.

  • Please. Steve Augeri is worth way more than the newest newbie. Other than that your exactly right ;0)

  • Perry was simply on fire at this time.

  • Journey was always a Peavey band. On the back of their albums it said "Journey is powered by Peavey".

  • I luv this classic Steve vocal! And of course neils guitar simply the best.

  • Steve Perry is the co-writer/writer of over 90 Journey songs during his time with the band!! Bring Steve and his talents back to the music scene in 2009 by signing the Steve Perry Sing Again petition. Go to petitiononlinecom and enter Steve Perry in the search.

Let Steve know how many people are eager to hear THE VOICE again!!!!

  • Dont forget that Steve Smith was the drummer on most of their big hits too. He made these songs flow so well because of his drumming abilities

  • Steve Perry is the definition of the word "incredible". Those high notes! WOW. Oh, how I miss him - just like everybody else here does, of course!

    Oh, and since it's 22nd January - Happy 60th, Steve! :D

  • Neal always had the most insane sounds coming out of that P90 Humbuckers config...his new guitar sounds amazing tho.

  • Great vocal range! He's not a wailer!

  • i love this song. i listen to it before i go to school and it acutally helps me get through the day.

  • haha same here i listen to journey all day at school, it helps me through boring times. i love the ending of mother father so sweet

  • "Whiskey, wine, and women to get me through the night"

    love that line

  • AMAZING VOICE!!!

  • wow. thoes high notes are really amazing! how does one person do that?

  • You have to be born with the ability like Steve

  • I crank this song (and several others by Journey w/ Steve Perry) when I'm doing my workouts. . . really keeps me going.

  • We, the fans, dont want to see such a talent wasted!! Bring Steve back by signing the Steve Perry Sing Again petition. Go to petitiononlinecom and sign (enter this /srperry1/petition.html in the address line).

Let Steve know how many people are eager to hear THE VOICE again!!!!

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT! Unbelievable control and tone. If you don't agree that he is one of the best vocalists EVER then you're insane.

  • @ItalianIrishDude Correction...THE BEST VOCALIST EVER!

  • Simply awesome!

  • One the best songs from Journey !!! Ahh, hell, I love them all.

  • I agree with perryzgal. Steve Perry set the bar too high. Journey will never sound this great again. I LOVE this sound!

  • SP is PERFECT. Unmatched perfection! Nobody cant touch him. Nobody comes close to the standard he has set for the music industry! Music was good back then!! Today........well, not so good! Just listen to that voice! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

  • wow... just wow...

  • SP is awesome!

  • Anybody know why Steve always went back to the drums when ever Neal had a solo? He does it on nearly every video. Just curious.

  • I think it's because he wants Schon to have the lime light.

  • i think its for concentration, i do it live to when the guitarist is doing a solo.. and ofcourse to give him the front

  • This is a guess but I believe it could have something to do with Steve Perry's first instrument having been drums, though perhaps it's unconscious for him to gravitate that way.

  • I still have this album its jamming!!!

  • We should just let Mariet2 run YouTube! Always seems to find the best videos!!

  • sure does

  • I've never heard this song on the radio never mind a live video thanks much!!

  • Holy crap!! Where did you find this?? The only thing I've seen from the escape tour was the Houston show. This even has Steve Smith's old drum kit. This must be early in the tour.

  • phantastic! (it's "ph" to me, instead of an "f", after all it's from Greek)

  • First time hearing this song live.

  • Mariet....I agree with Debbie...You are the greatest!!! Thanks for all the great videos!

  • You are the greatest, Mariet !!! Thanks again !! Peace/Love

  • FRicken awesome. i love this song.

  • I never knew they even played this live. Awesome video. Thank you Mariet2.

  • If my memory servers me correctly, They did this live at a show in Portland OR too.

Very VERY rare piece to hear live. Defenatly one that put his range to the test.

And you can tell steve was being very very conservitive with his voice in this live perfomance :)
