  • does any one know whare i can get like a live cd of osx ???

like how ubuntu has the try feature i want that but with osx

i just want to be able to like run it and barely use it

i dont even want lik any apps on it maybe like BASIC stuff ,... i do need xtools ( iphone sdk ) being im a iphone developer lol but yeah LIVE CD

  • ha if anyone has a live cd or make a software for it that whould be great

  • Ask yourself the question, how can I have a Live CD of a commercial OS?

  • This question is a little irrelevant to this vid, but umm lol. Where do u guyz find your HD content on the internet, is there a site that streams HD content or something? Cause if there is I'm dying to know!

  • torrentz dot com, search for 720p or whatever.

  • M$ got jealous, they want to make something similar as AppleTV called Media Extender.

  • Media Extender predates this piece of shit.

    LURK MOAR.

  • If they just predate but never made it for the market. that's equal to nothing. Nothing to compare with Apple TV ? That's loser.

  • What's with the dollar signs eh? Appl€ sounds good too. ;)

  • right. but why bother? i dont want to fiddle with a slow osx-machine in my living room, but watch videos. i dont get it.

  • You could just open a couple of tabs in safari and run some of the other pre-installed programs. The purpose was to see how responsive it is in os x with the amount of ram it has - something you can't see in the benchmarks. And maybe report the cpu/ram-usage to give a general idea of the performance.

  • Interesting, nicely done. Could you make a video where you run a couple of basic programs and maybe show boot. Just to see how it performs at normal use.

  • I just posted a new video showing that we can now boot from external USB Drive, so there's no need to open your aTV. I'm going to work on a video like you suggest next. Any particular applications you'd like to see?

  • you cannot update ram of apple tv, there are only four Nanya ram chips on the back side of the board.

  • People are so gullible around April 1

  • It's real, and pretty easy to reproduce.

  • So have you tried copying the AppleTV app to the work station drive so you don't lose functionality? I imagine the embedded OS it came with was OS X as well? Do you have any other documentation? I'd like to mess with this.

  • The best documentation is on the AwkwardTV wiki...google that.

  • Deniers are so stupid, all year around.

  • nice job!

  • Just 256 RAM?

Is it possible to install more RAM?

  • I'm having a lot of fun trying out apps on it....one guy asked "how long from boot 'til Skype running on desktop", answer: 1:30. 40 seconds of that is a long pause at power up with black screen (some kind of timeout thing). So it's not too shabby of a performer.

  • so this makes the appletv the chepeast mac out there....

  • Wowzers! That's SO cool! I would love to see some benchmark data, how realistic it actually is as a workstation. I love it! So much cheaper than a mac mini too if all you're going to do with it is ultra-basic stuff. :) Very very nice video thank you.

  • cool

  • Nuce job. Just shows that we can make the Apple TV a full blown Mac.
