This question is a little irrelevant to this vid, but umm lol. Where do u guyz find your HD content on the internet, is there a site that streams HD content or something? Cause if there is I'm dying to know!
You could just open a couple of tabs in safari and run some of the other pre-installed programs. The purpose was to see how responsive it is in os x with the amount of ram it has - something you can't see in the benchmarks. And maybe report the cpu/ram-usage to give a general idea of the performance.
Interesting, nicely done. Could you make a video where you run a couple of basic programs and maybe show boot. Just to see how it performs at normal use.
I just posted a new video showing that we can now boot from external USB Drive, so there's no need to open your aTV. I'm going to work on a video like you suggest next. Any particular applications you'd like to see?
So have you tried copying the AppleTV app to the work station drive so you don't lose functionality? I imagine the embedded OS it came with was OS X as well? Do you have any other documentation? I'd like to mess with this.
I'm having a lot of fun trying out apps on it....one guy asked "how long from boot 'til Skype running on desktop", answer: 1:30. 40 seconds of that is a long pause at power up with black screen (some kind of timeout thing). So it's not too shabby of a performer.
Wowzers! That's SO cool! I would love to see some benchmark data, how realistic it actually is as a workstation. I love it! So much cheaper than a mac mini too if all you're going to do with it is ultra-basic stuff. :) Very very nice video thank you.

M$ got jealous, they want to make something similar as AppleTV called Media Extender.
chrisfam7788 4 years ago
Media Extender predates this piece of shit.
LURK MOAR.

If they just predate but never made it for the market. that's equal to nothing. Nothing to compare with Apple TV ? That's loser.

What's with the dollar signs eh? Appl€ sounds good too. ;)

you cannot update ram of apple tv, there are only four Nanya ram chips on the back side of the board.
