  • Thanks for this tribute to the late great Eugene Record!!! The Chi-Lites and the Intruders are my 2 favorite soul groups. This song is an incredible master piece.

  • Eugene Record was one of the best songwriters ever in the recording industry. He studied classical music and you can hear it on the Chi-Lites songs.

  • One of the greatest sounds ever. I mean ever. I bought an entire system (stereo) just to here these guys. Memories...

  • Oh my goodness I did not even know Eugene Record had died. This man was so fine,so beautiful, such a master of singing love song. I greww up listening to his sweet voice in the Chi-lites, my very first boyfriend used to play his songs on our college Juke box just for me - Ooh I felt so special when he sang.

I often speak of the Chi-lites to my children saying to them that they should listen to you as this is soul music at its best.May u rest in peace my love. Music has lost a legend. RIP

  • What a great time i had when this was first out,

  • ....many years ago as a kid..i had the pleasure of meeting the late Credel Jones & Eugene Record of "The Chilites"...they were some great gentlemen.... This particular song, "Coldest day of my life" it reminds me of July 12, 1992...the COLDEST day of my life...when my dear mother went to Heaven.... I mustta' played this song over 100 times that day alone.

  • @glynnrh what a great song, Credel one of the best bass singers of all-time, Eugene one of the great lyrist, this song is my favorite of theirs. what a production. This song touches something deep within. I didn't realize the depth of this song until I lost my dear mother, December 18 1999 and then my Dad November 12 2004 But I soldier on. Peace!

  • RIP Eugene

  • i am so sorry i never got to see the chilites in person maybe in the next life i'll get to hear all the greats. i was in junior high when they came out and we had some good times with this music you could always find a song to decribe what you were feeling so unilike today maybe that's why people are so mean they have no concept of love and that good feeling you get when you hear songs like this and write another letter oh man i am glad i came through that era.

  • Very nice, only filling ...

  • Thank you for the nice tribute to Eugene. I think I am the biggest Chi Lites fan ever and I am still saddened when I think of his death over 2 years ago.
