@megafuze08- You have no right saying what any one can or can't say. You are being immature from censoring people for expressing their opinion. So they call Eric Clapton a god. BFD. They aren't calling him THE GOD, or saying bow down to Eric Clapton, he is our one and only God... It is not showing ANY disrespect for God because there is a difference between a god and God. God (capital G) refers to the Lord, and god (lower case) refers to any deity.
People, it is extremely inappropriate to refer to ANY human being as 'god', let alone Eric Clapton. Please refrain from doing that, even in figurative connotation. That's a huge dishonor to the Lord, and quite frankly, immature. Thank you for your understanding.
This song is the center of a sad story. Eric Clapton was born a bastard, and throughout most of his life knew nothing of his father. He said once that, after the birth of his son, looking into the child's eyes was the closest he'd ever been to looking into his father's. This song was the story of those feelings and, of course, the heartbreak of the loss of his son.
Wow. I've never heard clapton play like this. The version I usually listen to is from the One More Car, One More Rider album. He has a different cadence here, and his bends don't sound quite as smooth. But I think it's mostly a difference in his tone.
To the jerk who said to yall who lost a father but i still got mine. i lost my father november 27th 1997 and there is not a day i think about him. i miss him. this song reminds me of my father.
he's extending his condolences, meaning he is sorry, and that he is happy that he still has his own. and you should probably proofread what you post before you post it
eric fucvking clapton is commercial. first he stole his best friends eife and now he did cheated all the blues lovers.he is thinking about money and dont believe his tears! he is an imposter
Sounds to me like he is just "happy", meaning "Grateful" not disrespecting any of us who have lost our fathers. He just didnt word it correctly...guess we've all "put our foot in it" from time to time...but to me, his meaning was clear in that he is just fortunate to still have his father and he is happy about that fact.
yepp i heard this song prior to me going to see claptons blues concerts roughly in 96-97 so it was definitely prior to that... 92 is certainly feasable
this verison imo has more power than the acoustic version
I miss looking into my fathers eyes, i miss looking up to see his beautiful green eyes watching me with a little smile upon his face, i miss how those eyes could read me like a book, i miss the strength and the love i found in them. I miss my dad
Could it be you got the year wrong a bit? "My Father's Eyes" didn't come untl in 1998 on his "Pilgrim "album, not 1992! Something utterly smells fishy here....
Ah Hah! Gotcha! Yes, Clapton didn't release this officially until 1998 on Pilgrim. He had this song when unplugged came out. I liked this version better than the 1998 released version.
@traderfiles Hah, that's odd!! Thanks for the info. So he kept this thing under the veil for 6 years? Well, maybe because of the contents, since the song is *very* personal, let alone kinda private. I too would probably have needed several years to "recover" from that stroke of fate until I could sing this in public.
Who knows, maybe he would even have burst out into tears if after his dad passed, he had not kept the performances of this song to the smallest possible extent ...

jobluz06 2 years ago 3
@jobluz06 This because Eric used a Soldano during that period, that's why his sound was a bit different.
The One More Car CD and DVDs feature him using "Crash I" plugged into a blond VibroKing combo.
