My nickname is Mairzy(but I use the spelling,Marzy). My uncles gave me the name when I was a baby, nearly 67 years ago! This being the case, I LOVE the video. Also, I have a pair of wooden shoes exactly like one of the pairs in the video. I bought the shoes at a factory in Holland in the 70's. Thanks for such an enjoyable video!
My mother also taught me this song. She called Mairzy Doats, because my name was Marilyn. Yet, my dad who named me, called me Skeezix after the Gasoline Alley Garage since I was always tagging along with him to the hardware, lumber store, etc.
Wandering down memory lane......My sweet mama used to sing this to me. I sing it my kids as well. I hope they sing it when they have kids of their own.
Love it!

Thanks for posting this.
The only place I heard this before was on an album of children's songs that I've got. I'm so glad that I know what it means now
