Releasing your hand obviously makes it impossible to fire your weapon, but releasing it for such a short period of time isn't going to be a big deal. Also realize that when signaling, you're signaling to SOMEONE - that someone will be LOOKING where you are signaling and covering that sector of fire while you replace your hand - even if it's just for a millisecond.

@midnightlover3 There are more jobs than infantry, and last time I checked women weren't allowed to go into combat directly, but sometimes shit happens and they end up fighting during ambushes ect. But there are other jobs where you stay far away from the fight. Check out all of the jobs that the army has for you, medic, technician, engineer, ect.

Depends totally on the situation. During the iranian embassy siege, airplanes were ordered to fly low enough to make background noise so that the SAS could breach without the enemy knowing that they're coming. I don't know how much psychological value it has that you scream or shout before you breach but I know that I wouldn't shout or give any kind of signal that I'm coming even if they'd already know about me. I think it's more scarier when all you can hear is their footsteps.
