Conrail ran an excursion train their first year? They borrowed coaches from Strasburg? It sounds like the excursion was from Columbia to Perryville and back. There was a Conrail Express excursion with Bennett Levin's Juniata Terminal PRR E8's over the Port Road from Philly this past October. It was sold out. It seems NS is becoming more receptive to host excursions, as long as the equipment meets their standards (no old friction bearing equipment like the Strasburg coaches).
Wasn't Cass Shay 7 an oil burner? Is that the engine that was retired because of a bad boiler course they couldn't repair? Had to be Cass in the 70s because they still had that old Climax sitting for junk along the tracks as you left town to head up the mountain. Might have been before the old shop burned down, too! Great video...we took several trips on the "Chessie Steam Special". That's all gone...insurance must have been prohibitive. Thanks for the memories!
Stewartstown RR finally made it to youtube! I have all the KCS RR vid's on VHS, the only thing I don't like is the music overlaying the awesome sounds of Mighty Mo(V8 gasoline, 4 speed transmission, not to mention air whistles) and the Hancock air whistle on # 11. Just because it's not steam doesn't mean people don't want to hear it. I hate to sound negative, just stating my opinion.
is that Floyd York in Shay 2?

Shay 7 was a coal burner. It's Radley-Hunter stack was replaced in early 1970 with a typical Lima Diamond Stack.
