guitar playing is to underrated these days. When you say your a guitar player people take it like a normal fact, nothing special.
But only a few people really know how to play....these days a guy plays a chord and he thinks he´s god .... Learning this instrument takes a lot of work.....
I have a confession to make: I ignored Julian Bream for about five years because of his recording of the Alard arpeggio study (from 1988, I felt the individual notes were not clear and distinct). Forgive me Lord, for Julian Bream is one of the greatest --of all time!!
1:45 someone should make a giant wall-sized photo out of it and plaster it over their walls. then invite their friends over to play some guitar and take a photo right in front it.
Anyone who plays this piece: Could you please tell me what right hand fingerings you use for the run on measure 7? While you're at it, could you also include the left hand fingerings for that measure? Thank you!!!
@dugrey91 I don't think so. It seems as though the 3rd string is a little thicker than the rest of the strings. That is normal for a nylon G string, but on the other hand, there doesn't seem to be a distinct visual difference between the bass and treble strings, which probably means they aren't nylon
Hey guys, please check out my interpretation of Capricho Arabe. It's DEFINITELY not as good as Bream's, but I still hope you guys still enjoy it. Please rate and comment. :)
i really enjoy playing this piece, very melodic so you can learn it all by ear from this clip (I learned it from an old vinyl LP though so the sound quality was much better than YT making it easier) not a difficult piece but give yourself an hour to memorize it and your in business.
@newislandguitar your right thats how i memorized paco de lucia concierto de aranjuez and i play it with out knowing the notes just from ear and practice! :)
@yozmosis I can't tell you all the names. But I can tell you it's a picture of Tarrega playing for some friends and disciples. I found it in a book of Tarrega's work called: The Music of Francisco Tarrega. It also contains a picture of Andres Segovia with Tarrega's son and Miguel Llobet :)
@JogurtBelinea You're wrong because his name doesn't write like that, his name is Francisco Tarrega and in the video you did put the name of the piece "capriccio arabe" and that's not like the music calls, because this piece calls capricho arabe. The rest is very good and the sound is perfect.
absolutely right ! Music speaks what cannot be expressed , soothes the mind and gives it the rest, heals the heart and make it whole , flows from heaven to the soul.
I have always admired Julian Bream and I like this version very much, but it really isn't my favourite. That honour goes to Ana Vidović whose version I have on a CD, recorded in 1999. For me as well as being technically perfect Ms Vidović gives this so much more emotional depth than Julian Bream does.
Respond to this video... Thank you Tarrega, for the deeply touching music you left us. You stand amongst the greatest composers ever. And Julian, you are truly the master of masters on the guitar.
OMG! This was the first piece I learned that made me say, "I'm a guitarist." It is so much fun to play, and not really that difficult, but is a must for any guitarist, it was one of my show pieces!
Bream is a master, I grew up with his music in the late 1960s but I was a Sevovia copy-cat!
Thanks for posting, it brought tears to my eyes! :-))
@thejugglenaut91 It's because of the intimacy required to generate the sounds. The musician TOUCHES every note w/o any mechanical interface. :D imho of course...
amazing... the only think I don't like is the rapid descending passages after the harmonics at the very beginning... it seems like they could be a bit lighter and more legato. Otherwise, it's perhaps the best interpretation I've ever heard
Julian Bream is just fantastic. I love this piece by Tarrega. I've performed it several times, but I kow I'll never be able to play it as perfect as Bream plays it.
