  • 1:57-210 is a bitch to sing

  • I wonder why Tim Burton decided not to add this song in his version? Saves time I guess.

  • 0:55 Severus Snape

  • @Enfyulfur No duh.

  • This should have been the acual trailer for the movie!

  • singng this sooo hard

  • I can't watch this without thinking about Pinkie Pie anymore... xD

  • great

  • could someone point me to some moar haunting music such as this?

  • Can't stop listening to this beautiful song.

  • Pinky Pie version is better haha

  • @cheater87 You do know that the pinkie pie version was a parody of this one, right?

  • @MrTonywuzhere1 Umm duh XD

  • @cheater87 Then in that case, i agree with you

  • @cheater87 Agreed I'm aware that it's a parody as well but the Pinkie Pie version makes me cringe and makes me jump but this just gives me slight chills

  • why cant i get this out of my head? D:

  • 4 ppl need a shave.

    this is awsome :3

  • gaaaah. i really want the song. i searched everywhere, and i didnt find i . can you put download link? : |

  • @NinjaNaruto81 Well, you can download the video and extract the audio. Any Video Converter will do the trick.

  • too all, this is the 2005 revival featuring Manoel Felciano as Tobias (the one who starts the song), Patti Lupone as Mrs. Lovett, and Michael Cerveris as Sweeney Todd.

it is distinguishable by it's smaller orchestrations, use of accordions, and more british-sounding actors

  • Well,very well..

I very like watch this film

  • I've heard many versions of this song but most of them suck. Do you know who does this one?

  • @normalcyphobic This is the Original Broadway Cast Recording

  • @normalcyphobic Actually my bad, this is the 2005 Broadway Revival, I personally think that the Original is the best version though. It has a much more extensive orchestra and a larger ensemble which creates a wall of sound that blows this out of the water (in my opinion)

  • well that's the difference between stage performance and filmaking

  • Who sang this?

    Beautiful voice

  • @golden24680 I believe it was Michael Cerveris,

  • @mewzakuro240 Thanks!

  • i wish this was in the Tim Berton Sweeney Todd.

  • Comment removed

  • sweeny todd is a great musical :D

and i love this ballad ^^

  • This could have been an actual trailer lol But yea... I think it's okay that the ballad wasn't in the actual movie. I like the instrumental version anyway. But I do like it anyway.

  • creepy, yet exceptional movie!

  • EXTREMELY LIKE!

  • WHY DID HE KILL HIS WIFE????????

  • @Mrsweeneytodd11 he didnt know it was her. he thought it was some crazy person but lovett knew and thats y he killed her

  • @Mrsweeneytodd11 Seriiously, did you miss the entire movie? He thought it was just some homeless woman. Mrs. Lovett made him think his wife died from poisoning herself (she had just gone crazy). When he realized she had lied to him and that he had killed his own wife that's when he turned on Mrs. Lovett. Seriously, did you sleep through most of the movie or something? It's not that complicated.

  • @TheBratKingJareth i didnt cuz remember at the ending where she cums saying beadle and then sweeney sees her face when she lifts up her face in the light

  • @Mrsweeneytodd11 He wasn't paying attention to her. He did NOT know it was his wife. That's why he freaks out when he sees the body, because THAT is when he realizes it's his wife. It's kind of important. You know what, until you grow an intellect you probably shouldn't be allowed to watch movies because your complete misunderstanding of such an important moment is causing me a severe headache and anyone else unfortunate enough to have read your post.

  • @Mrsweeneytodd11 Do you ignore lyrics? Half this story is told IN SONG! He confronts Mrs. Lovett about not telling him that his wife was still alive and that's why he kills Mrs. Lovett. I hate when people are too stupid to realize lyrics are important in a musical.

  • @Mrsweeneytodd11 it was an accident. he though it was just a beggar women but after lucy died her real face started to appear, and he got pissed at mrs. lovett for lieing to him, so he danced with her, and threw her into the fire place thing

  • from the sexy pirate jack... to the crazy mad hatter... to willy wonka... to sweeny todd... most of them are dark or funny in their own ways... LOVE JOHNNY!!!!!

  • @Gaaralvr16

    don't forget Edward Scissorhands!

  • does it look like the wife is smiling when sweeney (benjamin) is dragged away????

  • @Gaaralvr16 She's crying and freaked out...

  • "That's all very well, now what're we gonna do about him?" i love this movie

  • I can't watch this without thinking about The Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts together anymore.

    Darnit.

  • @xXxPaperBulletsxXx Don't forget about Jack the Ripper ;D

Honestly, though, that is a less relevant person. Still similar.

  • i love this song... its so dark and makes me feel... i cant explain it. its so brilliant

  • im in love with the piano part

  • "Swing your razor wiiiiide, Sweeney!!! Hold it to the skyyyyyys!!!! Freely flows the blood of those who moraliiiiize!"

    Favorite part :)

  • awesome editing!

  • You guys like Johnny? well my channels all about him! My computers stupid and wont load but still check it out!

  • I think it was right that the Ballad was not in the movie because it is very theatrical (the Chorus acting like the Greek Chorus) and would be hard to place in the "realism" of the movie. But it would have a been a kick ass trailer, lmao. Then the marketing wouldn't have been criticized for not presenting the movie as a musical adaptation...

  • That's the person who plays Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter...

  • This is one of the best fanmade Sweeney videos I have ever seen. I love the way you put the clips together. It looks amazing!

  • Johnny Depp, the most talented actor to cross the silver screen. Excellent work, 1:54-2:15 truly captures Sweeney's insanity.

  • Yes, it looks alot like a trailer...I love this!

    -Andi

  • AMAZING~

  • Bravo well done god i love this movie!

  • i love the part at 1:00,it's so dark and sinister and those words make it that much more horrifying. those who gathered the ballad were truely geniuses. the story is truly dramatic.

  • the ballad was kind of in the movie. no words but it did the chanting thing every now and then.

  • this is phenominal!!!!

    5 stars.

    favorited.

and i like the profile pic.

i <3 sleepy hallow and sweeney todd

  • This was a very good version of the ballad, I want to know who did it :P

my choir will be singing this song in our next concert, and this would be good for them to hear so that they could aspire to sound as good as the singers on this did

  • @Achee1616

Funny, our choir is singing this in our next concert too. What's the name of your school? XD

  • so is ours haha im at a high school in ohio

  • @natethemonkeyninja

Haha, that High School wouldn't happen to be Elyria High School, would it?

  • @smbz1 yea it is i didnt want to say it just in case we got stalked who is this?

  • @natethemonkeyninja

Haha, well I'll keep my identity secret, but I do go to EHS as well. I'll leave it for you to decide who I am, seeing as I love seeing people guess, and fail XD

  • @smbz1 im guessing youre one of the 3 nathans im nate t but idk if youre nate g or nate d

  • @natethemonkeyninja

Haha, You're correct on that one. And I'm Nate D. XD

  • @smbz1 i read up on your profile ive got the second demon barber of fleet street solo haha i love being a bass i wish i wouldve tried for the sherry solo

  • who's this version by?

  • wait, so Tim burton made a movie on this balled?

  • I loved the movie until my theatre teacher showed me the Broadway version. Then the movie seemed lacking emotional depth.

  • it sounded like a Christmas carol from 1:42 to 1:52. hehe =)

  • This is the best version on youtube<3

  • agreed

  • yeah, i agree also, at first i didn't like it. but when i memorized the lyrics, i realized it's not bad at all.. great song.. =)

  • Maybe they should've played this over the opening with one person, and used it as background music with more singers after he kills more people, so it's like... his murderees singing... or something... and it builds up. dunno if that would play out well though.

  • i loved it!! well done =)

  • Great song ;) but It doest fit to this film

I love this movie! Johnny is realy amaizing!! He is the best !!! ;* ;*

  • i think the tune of this song is in the movie (just the tune, not the lyrics) . the tune is very familiar...

  • They could have had it as the first song in the end credits... The finale version, at least.

  • I wish that this had been in the movie right at the beginning in the background or something--like, Sweeney would be passing by a group of people who were practicing choir, and this would be the song. This song rocks!

  • i personally think this song wouldve ruined the movie so im glad it wasnt in it =)

  • yay

  • This was one of my favorite numbers from the show, and I was very disappointed that it was not in the movie. It would have made an excellent soundtrack for the opening credits. Great job on the video, btw. Thanks.

  • I love this song ... I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't in the movie but I think it doesn't fit in ... But great song :)

  • Perect!:=D

  • we're singing this in choir for a concert.

  • Where do you go cause so are we

  • a school in texas.

  • any way i can get the original without the lyrics :/

  • this is a ok version

    origanal broadcast is better

and the ariel drama production is the best

  • this is the best version!! by sweeney by sweeney todd..the demon barber of fleet street

  • is one is ok but i heard a better one

  • I've got a different version to this on my ipod...

  • You most likely have the closing version. This is the opening version...

Is "He shaved the faces of gentlemen/ Who never thereafter were heard of again" sung by both a woman and a man? If so, then that's the closing version. Otherwise, I have no idea. It might be some sort of weird hybrid...

  • I love this song. it's so eery and soo beautiful and dark. I love it

  • the original cast is a lot better at singing the song, cuz they actually make the crescendos and decrescendos in the song to make it sound more eerie. and they are better in tune

  • right:)

  • love the video. can you put the lyrics in the discription? that would be awesome!

  • awsome video man. love sweeney todd

  • Uh...that was a horrible rendition of the ballad. Try FYP's version. They're pretty good.

  • Agreed, this version sucks. D:

  • you suck

  • No, this version does.

Go listen to the 1982 version. The youtube user Erekrose has it. It is much better than this crap version.

  • the cast for the tour(2009) did the most amazing version of this song, they play was fabulous which version did u use? great vid!

  • i loveeee this song :) :)

  • aww its cute how everyone is singing this in choir :]

    uuusss tooooo!!!

    :p

    hah yeah fun stuff

  • I love this song!

I saw it in theater and it was so good, my mouth was agape.

    ^_^

  • I'm glad this wasn't in the movie. It would have ruined it. :)

  • How would it ruin it???

  • It would give away that Sweeney was a killer. According to another youtuber, Burton wanted this fact to be a surprise. Although, I must say that is was quite obvious that something with blood was going to happen, after that intro.

  • What a cocinidence, we're doing this too

  • why is everyone singing this in choir, we're singing it too, only in the version we're singing its a little different and with absolutely no solos

  • Same here. Personally, I like the choir version better.

  • We're singing this in choir! :D We're singing broadway stuff for our upcoming concert in May.

  • we're singing it in chior too :) that high part at the end is a killer though not gonna lie!

  • we're singing a medley of sweeny todd songs in choir at my school, it rocks

  • wow this is a good video!!! A+

  • wow. nice vid.

  • This is AWESOME. GREAT work. LOVE it.

  • I wished they used this song in the beginning. It would have been so awesome.

  • This is such a great song, and after reading the original movie script online (the one with this song in it), I am very sad it didn't go ahead. It would have been so cool, and would have fit in with the 'Epilogue as a Prologue' idea perfectly.

  • Love this song. I can play it on piano and we sang it in chorus. Depp is such a freat actor to play Sweeney.

  • =( I wish they used this for the movie, such an amazing song.

  • Very Good. Really. Love the song, it's on my iPod.

  • Is this sang by the cast of the movie?

  • No, it's one of the Broadway versions, the Revival, I believe.

  • @Evilagenia

it is in the movie.its the intro music.its the instrumental.

  • @VampireLilith99 yes, this is the broadway version.

  • Oh I don't like the words on the screen because it blocks the wonderful actors. :)

  • Love this song, but the movie was incredible and wasn't missing anything.

Love love Helena. She was magnificent.

    *sigh*

    xoxoxoo

    Wonderful video as well.

  • it was missing the words to this song

  • I see you've gone with the revival one. It probably fits the tone of the Burton movie more, so I think it was well chosen.

  • yes i know they put in the beginning. it would still be cool if they had it

  • they should have put this song in the movie

  • They did, in a certain way... the opening credits... They've done it beautifully, and it would not've been if they had done it Broadway-wise. 'Cause you can't have the actors to get on stage in advantage and sing it, can you. Because there ísn't any stage. Geddit?

No offence, though, it's just me being extremely annoyed with people who can't seem to understand though. You're not my only victim. Lawl :')

  • @Evilagenia not nessisarraly.. it could be a song in the End Credits or even have the cast Sing it but with the Blood and rain background the opening has.

there is more than one way to skin a cat.

  • @Evilagenia I completely agree with you. The ballad of Sweeney Todd wouldn't have worked in the movie. It

  • @Evilagenia I agree on both terms. It would've been great if they could have included the words, but it was best the way they did for the movie.

  • @bratangel40 I'm inclined to disagree. This song explains who Todd is but the film was great because it just explained on its own by the character's past.

In all honesty I think that, although this is a good song, it would've ruined the beginning of the film if they had it. That's why they had it in an instrumental version.

  • @bratangel40

Yeah I wish it would have had singing in the instrumental in the opening. Cuz I can't just watch the DVD and learn my part for the play. D< 'Course, I wanted Lovett, and would have gotten it I think, so I'm also going to ask if I can't be Hailey's understudy. :)

  • I know that helana bonham carter isn't singing in this, but didn't she do good in the movie!

  • This would have made the movie not ruined it.

  • Well, I must really disagree with you =] It's rather difficult to make a film out of a musical. The movie made a beautiful entrance, and if they had forced the ballad (with lyrics, seeing as they did play a fragment in the beginning) in it, it would've been rather bad.

  • @Evilagenia I totally agree with u. This ballad was meant for a musical on stage, it would have been like and introduction or a preview to the play, cuz people woudn't have known it when it premiered. But if ur gonna make it into a movie, u don't really need an intoduction cuz ur telling the story already. I think the movie turned out just fine. 'Sides, ur right, there was a part of it at the start.

  • Is this the original broadway song or a special features: deleted song from the DVD? I haven't seen much of the movie yet, but I've seen the stage version being played at my school

  • It's not from the Tim Burton version (if I'm right) I, eh, actually don't quite know from which production it is '^^ Figure not THE original one, but I do find it a pretty one :')

Oh, by the way: your school is made of awesome. We're doing Hairspray =[

  • oh, okay, lol.

    huh? uhh do you live in Las Vegas, or did you look at my profile? xD;

    lol but thanks though. =]

some of the theatre kids at my school went to watch Hairspray in one of the hotels/casino here. never seen Hairspray myself, but I will soon once final exams are over!

  • xD No, I don't live in Vegas :') You said your school does/did Sweeney Todd, and that's just sweet x'D Hairspray isn't really my taste, maybe you'll like it :')

  • I said that? xD;

    *doesn't remember*

OHH I see it now. xD; I was reading to fast on my previous comments to catch it, lol

  • That was Sweeny Todd revival team and it was not in movie

  • nice done! I don't understand why they didn't have this song in the movie :( it's amazing

  • good video, though I wonder why you didn't wait until the DVD came out so you could include more clips without being redundent.

  • Becuz I was impatient =] Thanks for the comment x'D

  • You posted it just a day before the DVD release! Surely you have waited one more day!

  • Maybe she made it a while before she posted it ;)

    Great vid, Dzjee!

  • That, and the fact that in Holland the DVD came out later. Thanks Jess *glomp* : D

  • Amazing.

  • that was amazing! i absoloutley loved the never forgive never forget part!

  • This is amazing, and it got better as it went on. Although there were a few repeated clips, which was kind of annoying.

  • OMG! Gen je hebt jezelf overtroffen! Go you!

  • I love this song, good job with the video =] tis great =D

  • Thanks, both =]

  • Very, very, nicely done.
