@cheater87 Agreed I'm aware that it's a parody as well but the Pinkie Pie version makes me cringe and makes me jump but this just gives me slight chills
too all, this is the 2005 revival featuring Manoel Felciano as Tobias (the one who starts the song), Patti Lupone as Mrs. Lovett, and Michael Cerveris as Sweeney Todd.
it is distinguishable by it's smaller orchestrations, use of accordions, and more british-sounding actors
@normalcyphobic Actually my bad, this is the 2005 Broadway Revival, I personally think that the Original is the best version though. It has a much more extensive orchestra and a larger ensemble which creates a wall of sound that blows this out of the water (in my opinion)
This could have been an actual trailer lol But yea... I think it's okay that the ballad wasn't in the actual movie. I like the instrumental version anyway. But I do like it anyway.
@Mrsweeneytodd11 Seriiously, did you miss the entire movie? He thought it was just some homeless woman. Mrs. Lovett made him think his wife died from poisoning herself (she had just gone crazy). When he realized she had lied to him and that he had killed his own wife that's when he turned on Mrs. Lovett. Seriously, did you sleep through most of the movie or something? It's not that complicated.
@TheBratKingJareth i didnt cuz remember at the ending where she cums saying beadle and then sweeney sees her face when she lifts up her face in the light
@Mrsweeneytodd11 He wasn't paying attention to her. He did NOT know it was his wife. That's why he freaks out when he sees the body, because THAT is when he realizes it's his wife. It's kind of important. You know what, until you grow an intellect you probably shouldn't be allowed to watch movies because your complete misunderstanding of such an important moment is causing me a severe headache and anyone else unfortunate enough to have read your post.
@Mrsweeneytodd11 Do you ignore lyrics? Half this story is told IN SONG! He confronts Mrs. Lovett about not telling him that his wife was still alive and that's why he kills Mrs. Lovett. I hate when people are too stupid to realize lyrics are important in a musical.
@Mrsweeneytodd11 it was an accident. he though it was just a beggar women but after lucy died her real face started to appear, and he got pissed at mrs. lovett for lieing to him, so he danced with her, and threw her into the fire place thing
from the sexy pirate jack... to the crazy mad hatter... to willy wonka... to sweeny todd... most of them are dark or funny in their own ways... LOVE JOHNNY!!!!!
I think it was right that the Ballad was not in the movie because it is very theatrical (the Chorus acting like the Greek Chorus) and would be hard to place in the "realism" of the movie. But it would have a been a kick ass trailer, lmao. Then the marketing wouldn't have been criticized for not presenting the movie as a musical adaptation...
i love the part at 1:00,it's so dark and sinister and those words make it that much more horrifying. those who gathered the ballad were truely geniuses. the story is truly dramatic.
This was a very good version of the ballad, I want to know who did it :P
my choir will be singing this song in our next concert, and this would be good for them to hear so that they could aspire to sound as good as the singers on this did
Haha, well I'll keep my identity secret, but I do go to EHS as well. I'll leave it for you to decide who I am, seeing as I love seeing people guess, and fail XD
@smbz1 i read up on your profile ive got the second demon barber of fleet street solo haha i love being a bass i wish i wouldve tried for the sherry solo
Maybe they should've played this over the opening with one person, and used it as background music with more singers after he kills more people, so it's like... his murderees singing... or something... and it builds up. dunno if that would play out well though.
I wish that this had been in the movie right at the beginning in the background or something--like, Sweeney would be passing by a group of people who were practicing choir, and this would be the song. This song rocks!
This was one of my favorite numbers from the show, and I was very disappointed that it was not in the movie. It would have made an excellent soundtrack for the opening credits. Great job on the video, btw. Thanks.
You most likely have the closing version. This is the opening version...
Is "He shaved the faces of gentlemen/ Who never thereafter were heard of again" sung by both a woman and a man? If so, then that's the closing version. Otherwise, I have no idea. It might be some sort of weird hybrid...
the original cast is a lot better at singing the song, cuz they actually make the crescendos and decrescendos in the song to make it sound more eerie. and they are better in tune
It would give away that Sweeney was a killer. According to another youtuber, Burton wanted this fact to be a surprise. Although, I must say that is was quite obvious that something with blood was going to happen, after that intro.
This is such a great song, and after reading the original movie script online (the one with this song in it), I am very sad it didn't go ahead. It would have been so cool, and would have fit in with the 'Epilogue as a Prologue' idea perfectly.

good video, though I wonder why you didn't wait until the DVD came out so you could include more clips without being redundent.

This is amazing, and it got better as it went on. Although there were a few repeated clips, which was kind of annoying.
