I don't think people realize the tank is supposed to attack first in order to keep the enemy's attention. The other day, I tanked for the first time (level 17/18 Night Elf Druid). But, it wasn't going so well. So one guy is all, "What kind of tank are you?" and, "You're a bad tank, Mr. Bear." (I was in bear form) Now, you are probably thinking, "Man, this guy sucks at tanking." Well, it wasn't my fault. Everyone else kept attacking the enemies first, so THEY took all the damage! IDIOTS!

To be fair, at low levels, it usually doesn't matter if aggro is pulled off you; you usually have a healer who can handle it or hell, dps in mail can just tank a mob or two if they're smart.

Bear tank is also the hardest imo to master tanking with. Best bet is to go with the line; You pull it, You Tank it. Unless you are the healer.

@YamsRyu FYI, this video was made in '07. The lowbie dungeons (and tanking difficulty in general) were ASTRONOMICALLY more difficult than the Cataclysm revamped dungeons.

It was common to wipe over and over on WC or VC simply due to stupid shit. And DPS going AWOL with aggro doesn't help.

There's one person with a shield, and one with a 2H, the one with the shield is probably the tank. Plus, it was common in Vanilla to take a 10-man party into dungeons like Stratholme and Scholomance. In fact, any dungeon that could be 5-manned could also be 10-manned.

As a healer, I have long since learned to control my flight urge in instances. My first reaction is slamming heals has aggro macros and run for the tank

It does wonders for my survivability, plate or cloth toons both. Though when I used to accidentally pull off the tank in ret way back when I just held my ground and popped my herbalism cd if tthe heals was having trouble. my stupid = I deal with it or tank picks up when I die.

Read all the comment's about how tanks are under appreciated, but IMO us healer's have it way harder, even through random crappy HC's you hear it all the time, "nice tanking buddie" but us healers harly ever get comments like that, and iv even healed rotface solo from 60% to 12% and got nothing :'( so stop whinging, and thats was before the NOOBS got the buff up tto 25%

warrior tanks are ok but they take a little wile to get aggro but once thay have it it is very hard to pull them (single target). pallys are fine as long as they keep their aoe holy spell up and their 90% holy aggro. dk's are just all around gods at tanking if you spec right with frost pres and death and decay, icy touch, plauge strike and pest, blood boil. done and done. never realy did any thing on druid tank

Been playing since before WoW existed (warcraft 3) and I know that the game is based on the lore. Unfortunally (again) the gameplay still comes first, and it's been getting worse every patch; stupid "balances", crazy damage, faceroll classes. I do remember these from pre tbc and tbs as well, but back then it was way more balances. And it's not only nostalgia.

Ive been playing since Warcraft 2, the gameplay comes first, but is based on the lore, if you can overlook the minor annoyances in the game (that come with ANY MMO), and enjoy it for the lore and content, and not the mechanics, you will still find the game enjoyable. If the game didn't have the faceroll classes etc, it wouldn't be following the typical MMO strain, if you don't want this, keep playing the RTS's like HaloWars, and Warcraft, but even then, you can faceroll with cheats.
