These are DIALECTS, meaning while two have different words for different things, you can pretty much understand what the other is saying. So no, Americans are not wrong for spelling 'mum' 'mom' and the British aren't wrong for spelling 'program' 'programme.' Learn to take an interest in other cultures and not be so rude.
